Choice is such a good coach. I remember being so sad when he left and then I saw we got Cobbs and I was really excited. So glad Morris kept Cobbs.
-
We hired Cobbs for the 2019 season...right after Harrell left after the 2018 season.

Herman's offenses were so predictable even I knew what play was coming watching them. That might be Tim Beck's fault. Either way, not only was he sold as god's gift to football to UT, acted like it and when the results didn't pan out, he blamed others. Is he a serviceable football coach? Obviously. Do I love seeing him knocked down a peg? Every damn time.

Herman was terrible for Texas and I thought it was a bad hire at the time and vindication is sweet.
-
He's one of the most overrated coaches in the history of coaches and as a split UNT UT family I will never forgive him for what he did to Texas.

How could they lose?

Pavia will be an interesting NFL pick depending on how the season goes. He's a senior. Obviously late round pick or UDFA. But he's got the gumption.

A name to keep in the back pocket

Cross that road when we get there. We're 5 games into the season. Table that convo.

His fall from grace is odd imo. I credit him with our offensive success in the early Littrell era. I think he got a raw deal at WV. Neal Brown is still HC and I think he threw Harrell under the bus. Brown is 29-29 as HC at WV. Looking at the scores for 2023 and 2024, it doesn't look bad on offense for most games (not including Ohio State or other power houses). Score doesn't always show offensive prowess but they gave up 38 points to Oregon State this year. I think this is another thrown under the bus situation. And I wouldn't be surprised if Harrell thought that might be the case with SL and moved on.

Is it tho?

Good Game for Caponi and the Defense
peanuts104 replied to Mean Green 93-98's topic in Mean Green Football
If you're going to only use 3 down linemen, it makes sense that a defense that uses 4 linebackers is more effective than one that uses 3. I get that the star position is supposed to be a hybrid safety/LB but it just hasn't worked here for whatever reason. We stopped the run because we had four linebackers in position to fill run gaps past the line of scrimmage. And, unfortunately, I think having a really complex backfield with a mix of 5 safeties and corners only works if you have the best personnel AT OTHER POSITIONS NOT IN THE BACKFIELD. For a 3-3-5 to work, the front 3 and linebackers have to be perfect and that is asking a lot. Happy with the 3-4 and multiple D change. -

Mean Green should be on the uniform, an eagle or something should be on the helmet. Do not like the script on the helmet. Otherwise I like the unis.

Green: 44+(their pass defense is atrocious) Not Green: 20ish -
Mestemaker listed as only backup qb
-
Our backup walk on QB needs some beach time. In all seriousness, after going back and looking at Mestemaker and how he's handled his on field reps, he is really consistent and calm which is what you want for a backup. Glad we got to see the depth at qb the last couple weeks. I was hoping to see Cash though.

This is a good sign

Edit: Tulsa looks worse than Wyoming on defense. Their offense may be more potent but I wouldn't say by a wide margin. If we stick with a 3-4 scheme, I think that might fix a lot of our defensive woes, mainly the run.

It should be much higher, Tulsa looks like
