  1. I can appreciate your optimism. For me, Caponi has got to go. That guy will not grow. Last year against LaTech, we come out in a four man front, hold LaTech down and we score offensively and get a sizable lead. He inexplicably switches back to the 3-3-5 and let them back in the game and we have to win on a last minute FG. That tells me he is hard headed, cannot adjust his defense to what is thrown at him, and will not grow.
  2. And North Texas will have the worst defense that Wyoming has seen as stated by us the fans. I expect a smaller spread. We have allowed 124 points. That's 41.33 points a game. See how easily that statement can be changed to fit us? This defense is bad. We were dead last a year ago.. Now we are 126th. Not much difference.
  3. I personally bought 8 tickets for my brothers and their families, but there are still several left. Peterbilt buying 2000 is good for revenue, but I highly doubt that 2000 people at Peterbilt will show up. I am predicting close to 24,500 in seats. I do hope I am wrong by 5600.
  4. Not gonna happen. I clicked on buy tickets this morning and there are still several tickets available on the home side mostly in the upper deck. I highly doubt that many people will walk up and buy tickets or that many will purchase that many online before the 6 PM kick off.
  5. The 3-3-5 is probably only best run when it is an obvious passing down like 3rd and very long. It should not be used as a base defense.
  6. I can agree with that. We did the same to USA. We dominated the 3rd quarter because things went bad for them and snowballed in a hurry.
  7. Maybe start by giving the DC his walking papers.
  8. I agree with this. The most successful coaches at the highest levels of football have come from the defensive side of the ball. Sure, you will find the occasional offensive guy who wins, but you are most likely to find that winner from the defensive side. I just looked at Super Bowl history and the teams who have won most are teams led by a guy who came from defense. Examples: Don Shula, Tom Landry, Chuck Knoll, John Madden, Bill Parcells, Bill Belichick, Tony Dungy, Bill Cowher, Jimmy Johnson, George Seifert etc. Sure you will find a Joe Gibbs, Vince Lombardi, or Bill Walsh, but your more successful teams have had defensive leaders. Nick Saban is the most successful college coach and he came from the defensive side of the ball. Defensive guys seem to be able to find great OCs, but offensive guys are hit and miss on finding great DCs. Defense has and always will win championships. We keep hiring up and comers. How about next time we hire an up and coming DC.
  9. Caponi needs to go. He had the worst defense in the country last year. He gives up position coaching so that he can concentrate on being the DC and we are still bad. Yes, we beat USA, but it wasn't because the defense stopped them. They had more yards on offense than we did. We beat them because of their special teams mistake and our offense. This defense has not improved. We beat SFA only because the offense was more methodical and didn't put our defense out there as much. We have seen enough after 15 games and he is not it.
  10. This is the last that I will say on this topic. After that, I will remain quiet and if the moderators want to move it to a different area, I understand. For the three people who did not like my comment and want to be victims or encourage other Black people to be victims, go ahead. I refuse to be a victim and believe that all white people are bad when I know better. When I was in combat, white people watched my back like I watched theirs because we were American and color had nothing to do with it. This country is not as racist as you think it is. I don't like to go off on a tangent, but I have yet to meet a racist Mean Green fan in all of my 40 plus years of rooting for the Mean Green.
  11. Okay I am Black and I did not take this as racist. I took this as what's in the news cycle. Stop trying to find racism where there is none.
  12. I have a question that I do not know the answer to and I am hoping old heads, and when I say old head, I am meaning people over 55 because that's my age or UNT historians can tell me; have we ever had a head coach that was a UNT alumni?
  13. I guess I am hoping we are just not this bad. I am hoping we roll the rest of the season.
  14. Maybe I am a conspiracy theorist, but we have like 5 coaches on our coaching staff that are Tech alumni, could it be that they didn't want to win this game so as not to embarrass their alma mater or are we really just this bad?
  15. Time for me to watch something on Lifetime like my wife likes to watch and get drunk in the process.
  16. Being military, this is worse than "Shock and Awe" that we did in Iraq. At least they tried to fight. We have rolled over and quit.
  17. Glad I stopped at the liquor store today to get the good stuff. At least I will be so blasted by the end of this that I hope I will not remember.
  18. If you actually go to the YT channel for this video and read the comments, there are several TTU fans predicting UNT to win. They have no confidence in Tech, unless those are Mean Green fans commenting.
  19. I talked to one of the paramedics in the stands who was on his radio with the guys on the field. He said it was a compound fracture of the lower leg.
  20. For what it's worth, I was at the Walmart on University tonight as they were closing, and all the store employees were basically at the cash registers. I would say 95% of them were college students and they were all talking about going to the game. I heard one girl ask what time was the game and another said 6:30 and they all said oh I will be there. Hopefully, there are multiple students across campus saying the same thing.
  21. That is a great reason to leave. Can't blame him for that.
  22. The defense did not play well in the first half, but they did play better in the second. As far as USA shooting themselves in the foot, one could say maybe the defense influenced those mistakes. A lot of times when O linemen false start, they are doing so trying to beat a defensive linemen that has been pressuring them. Sometimes offenses hold because if they don't, the defender makes the stop. I would have to analyze the game which I am not because I am not the coach, but could it be that our defense influenced some of their offensive mistakes? I just ask the question. I am sure there are guys much smarter than me who can answer that or maybe I am just looking for hope that this defense has improved.
  23. I went to the game so I am not sure how it looked on TV or online. If you are referring to design, the sideline brick is a lot like DATCU. However, if you are referring to color, not so much. Theirs is a much more red brick. Another thing I noted was that it emptied out at halftime like DATCU when the band parents leave. So, maybe their fan base is as jaded as ours. I was surprised because they had the lead. There were so many students leaving during halftime that I thought maybe they could go out during the halftime and come back in when halftime was over. I had to ask one of the security personnel if that was the case and they said "No. Once they leave, there is no return."
