Plus let's be real here. You don't think WB is going to talk to Seth in private and say "hey I know it was your first year and it was rough, but you really need to pull in a better class next year". It's all AD politics. WB and SL both seem like guys who want to get stuff done and do it right. SL will look at this year as a learning experience for what to do differently next year and he has started building bridges now. Maybe it's because I'm a millennial, maybe it's because I just have more patience, maybe I haven't heard what seems to some like the same thing for 10+ years, but I truly believe SL and WB can get us turned around. Will it happen in only 1-2 years of them being here? Can you lose 40 pounds in 1-2 months? No it takes time just like getting a good perception takes time. Most of SL's offenses have taken off in his second year coaching there, so let's see what he does this year before some go off the deep end. Does anyone really doubt that WB is going to fire TB, like, at all? It's so certain that it is going to happen that at this point it's just a formality. It would seem that WB is going the Teddy Roosevelt route and "speaking quietly, while carrying a big stick". In the words of Aaron Rodgers "R-E-L-A-X".

Almost no details were released about the parting of ways. SL and co could have made an agreement with him that he could stick around for a year to help acclimate the new staff. Another situation is Perry said he would help them for a year and then he wanted to leave after that. We'll likely never know.

You'll get lots of dislikes for this, but you are 100% right.

Well with NSD now in the books we know where we stand at the QB position. Our three main front runners for the starting job are true freshman Cade Pearson, Sophomore and incumbent Mason Fine, & 3 star PWO JUCO Transfer Devlin Isadore (Izzy). Who do you have as your pre-season favorite to get the starting job come September 2 and why?

We brought in Isadore who is a 3 star QB. He's a walkon, but he is a 3 star QB none-the-less -
I mean it's not really that hard to argue when you look at what happened today. We brought in 5 guys they didn't count. Yes, they are BS, yes, I know they don't count BS guys. But if you look at everything we were ranked 9th without Isadore being counted. There is no NCAA rule that says "Oh well if 247 doesn't count them in your class then they can't play" the whole argument for recruiting is about getting good players, we did, just 6 of them don't count for this rating method.

I'm so glad that the outcome of our season is based on how a third party service rates us after removing 5 of our recruits rather than, ya know, actually playing 12 games this upcoming season. *very obvious sarcasm* I'm also glad that half of our fan base are better recruiters than a group of guys who have been doing it for most of their adult life. NFL teams pick the players for the positions they need most in the draft, SL is doing something similar. Take what you need not what is shiniest. Can we do better in recruiting? Sure! Should we? Sure! Will that change happen over night? No! Why not? Because FW already has relationships and great players to his name, SL starts from behind in that area. Give him time and see what he can do.

He must have broken like 5 or 6 tackles there at least. -

Yeah I had never even heard this guy's named mentioned though on the board. Glad to see staff got some last minute deals. -
'17 K/P Austin McGehee (Fullerton JC) [Verbal:NT}

247 had him as a commit to us but change him to favorite when all of the other BS were changed. Perhaps he is a PWO. -

Maybe it's a PWO/BS? Not really sure maybe Vito can get us some more details. Nice catch, i couldn't find a 247 for him so I replaced it with his Hudl. -

And they won 10 games last season. Not making excuses, just saying that most kids would rather play for a 10 win team than not -

For note: we're only behind ODU by .34 points Adding a mid range 2 star would push us over ahead of them. -

AustinFromUNT replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Rankings wise yes, but if you take out who didn't show up last year we were close to 11 or 12 last year compared to solid 9 this year. Improvement year by year is the best way of sustained success. -

Honestly not too bad when you consider it doesn't take into account Isadore who is a 3 star, or anyone else we will sign. We finished 9th last year as well which included some JUCO guys who never made it, looks as though all of these will make it to campus, so I will say we improved recruiting this year and hopefully with a winning season will increase even more next season #GMG -
'17 ATH Tre'von Bradley (Cleburne) [LOI: UH]
AustinFromUNT replied to UNT90's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Knew it was only a matter of time until the negativity came in this morning. We should be happy for those guys signing with us today. Tomorrow once the dust has settled then we can discuss the merits of this class, but today we should celebrate these young men taking their next step into their adult life. -
'17 ATH Jaelon Darden ( Aldine Eisenhower) [LOI: NT]
AustinFromUNT replied to B225's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Any idea of SL and Co. can come up with an extra 3 star to replace him? I know we got White but I would like to be able to replace Bradley with a 3 star and then tag on Darden with him -

Don't give me a heart attack like that. I instantly went to check his twitter. I trust JayD's source, because well I don't really have any other choice and he has been proven reliable, but I think even with all of the UH shills and Major AppleFailure and that his bio still says UNT commit, he'll come to us. Literally nothing more than a gut feeling at this point, but we'll sign in about 3.5 hours. Edit: Totally disregard everything I just said -
THIS. Thank you. We should be happy for this young man not arguing about another young man.

A very low rated 3 star (.8000) would be worth 10 points. It's only out of our top 20 so we drop the 2 lowest to add 2 higher ones. After Darden and White take a lowest spot over the next 2 lowest are worth a combined 2.23 points. So 2 more low 3 stars would net us about 18 points. This would put us in 3rd or 4th place
-
If we get both him and Darden then that would move us into solid 8th. 7 points ahead of Charlotte and 10 behind LA Tech
-
I said I wanted 1 more 3 star after Siggers and now it looks like we may get 2. SL giving 90 the old 2 for 1 haha
