I’m going to say it. I think the biggest reason we aren’t as good is Jalen Guyton is gone. He had a stud sophomore season and a good jr season. Defenses focused on him and it opened up Rico in 2018. 2017, we had 3 NFL caliber players on the field in Wilson, Guyton, and Bussey (4 if Fine makes it). Rico is the only one remaining and he’s hurt so who does Fine have? All the support staff but not the NFL talent. I think Mason Fine is a very good QB, but I never thought he was an exceptional talent. He has had playmakers around him in the two seasons his career took off. Now that he doesn’t have that, it’s like it was in 2016. He is a fearless QB and will try and make something out of nothing. He has the heart of a lion and the work ethic to be great. He wouldn’t be here if he didn’t have all that, but a lot of credit needs to go to the weapons he had at his arsenal. look at Carlos Harris. He was a really good slot receiver when he was the 3rd option behind Darnell Smith and Breelan Chancellor. But he couldn’t carry the team himself in 2014 and 2015. Same thing is happening now with Lawrence and Darden. Jalen Guyton took a selfish decision to go early to the NFL. He wasn’t ready, and he wasn’t on anyone’s board to get drafted. Now he isn’t playing football for any team. He doesn’t have a QB to throw to him right now and might be done playing football for good. He could have came back one more year and refined his craft. We could have had 2 1000 yard receivers this year and Fine breaking records his own broken records some more. But now we are seeing what happens when the talent leaves and gets hurt. I hope Rico comes back next year to finish his career at UNT. The next QB will really need his deep threat talent.

Where are the quotes from Khari, his teammates, and/or the coaches explaining how he was chosen as captain and reflecting his side of the story. This is all one sided. For UNT that has such a good School of Journalism, this guy really needs to take some more classes on how to get both sides of the story. YOU ARE NOT SKIP BAYLESS....

I am on the same notion as above. I would have loved to see an all conference season from him before he jumps. Maybe he needs the money and will take whatever he can get. Sure hope he can finish his degree.

3 of their losses have been to non ranked teams from the mid majors and well Providence is Big East. Their credible loss was to Michigan State. Our lone loss was to a now ranked OU team. Just no love for NT

He didn't want have to come to Denton again. I don't think he will make it. Had one good season at UTSA. Won Freshman DPoY. That's it. Was barely honorable mention in All CUSA this year. If I was an NFL team, I would much rather have EJ Ejiya on my team than this guy.
