Give the LS a break.. He has been on the team for 3 weeks, and 3 wins vs UAB, USM, and UTSA.. Yes he struggled, but it was his 3rd game (he can have an off game).. He did fine vs UAB on the game winning snap (and throughout that game) and got no praise, but yet criticism for 2 PATs.. Yes it could have cost us the game, but so could have many other plays like the blown coverage leading to the RB 40 something receiving TD, which gave UTSA the lead.. Again he wasn't on the team and SL even said the kid was fishing the weekend before the UAB game. We are using our 3rd string LS for PATs, so lets chill out and realize that if biggest issues is PAT or Kick Coverage we are doing some things good... You can say that ST is a basic system but we have no idea.. They have guys likely who have always been so good (to their HS teams), that they haven't done it before.. Connor Means is on Kickoff coverage, how many times did he do that in HS or before this season? Evan Johnson another example likely never did it in HS.. Yes those are 2 examples compared to someone like McClain who is on the unit as well but having guys in positions/spots they haven't been in makes them think and react slower.. SL has talked about it why the offense makes the jump from year 1 to 2.. Its because guys about to react without thinking allowing them to play faster.

The comment about having Carr at QB likely lead to Adams getting a few more looks (at first) because of the QB.. Guyton likely doesn't have someone else that is drawing scouts to UNT, then scouts notice Guyton.. Maybe Wilson is, but no idea.. I agree that Guyton could and should pass those numbers in terms of yardage and hopefully TDs as well. If he does, it only opens up the offense hopefully even more and allows for others to get open. I was only bringing up the round/pick for individuals that were not aware of where Adams went with the stats that he had put up. Also, UNT just needs to get a couple of kids drafted.. Our streak of going like 14/15 years without a draft pick, we can not and should not be picky of where they go in the draft. To compare it, Carlos Henderson the LAT WR went in the 3rd round.

I think its close/possible to go 6-2 and win it.. USM plays LAT (this weekend) and UAB, LAT plays UNT, USM, and UTSA UAB has USM and UTSA UTSA has LAT and UAB left.. It will be a challenge, but UNT has been through most of the tough west competition and came out ahead, I think most of us would have taken 3-1 out of USM, UTSA, UAB, and LAT. The challenge is that we maintain this streak. LAT is the last West challenger and that is another big game for us because if they have only 1 loss, and we have 0 at the time of the game.. IF LAT wins that game, they move ahead of us in the standings.

When would the championship game be IF we did make it? Because finals week at UNT is the 11-14th, so depending on when it would be you could potentially be having something similar to another parents weekend if it matches up, but I'm assuming the Championship game would be around the 2nd or 9th?

While I agree it was a crap situation, the difference is its likely if he did go to a place like Ole Miss (again just a random thought from a friend) he would have multiple years to deal with sanctions (likely).. At UNT he was able to just blue-shirt and bring in more recruits to go from the 60 to 80 mark in 1 year I would think pass on a job like Ole Miss and then in a year if UNT is doing the same thing, he could/should have more offers similar to Ole Miss, but i could be wrong

See I thought the same, but the more I thought about it.. Would it be a smart choice with the possible/likely sanctions that are going to be coming?

Someone I work with brought the possibly of someone like SL getting a look at P5 jobs (to me it’s still a bit early) and wanted to get others input since we have talked about possible coaches moving on. Ole Miss has a opening and IF they did call SL.. Do you think he jumps at it? I would think yea he is interested, but this is something that I’ve wondered.. They may end up getting sanctioned.. with that being a possibly does that make someone like SL pass on it knowing he could damage his resume with the sanctions or wait it out another year and have success at UNT the very move on someplace else? Also, how is that the LAT after his years of success and big offenses hasn’t moved on? Has he gotten looks?

Khari may have something to say about that as a kid who played Little last year and has been possibly the best safety on the team so far this year

Adams also put up 102/1312/14 his RS-FR year, then 131/1719/24 his RS-SO year.. it also didn’t hurt him having Derek Carr at QB if Guyton can do that, it would be amazing.. on top of him going early, Adams was #53 overall in the 2nd round

True we do not have an unlimited amount of scholarships.. But most programs usually carry 5 scholarship QBs.. Quinn will be a Sr. next year, Fine will be a Jr, Pearson should be a RS-FR with 2 true FR in Martin and Bean.. By the time Holgerson would get here Fine will be a Sr. Pearson a RS-SO, Martin/Bean will be RS-FR.. Right now we only have 3 QBs.. Carson left because of shoulder injuries, Izzy left because of playing time, O'hara left before fall camp.. The scholarship issue is likely at OL because of the # of guys we have brought in between the 2017 and should bring in with the 2018 class.. As of now the OL has/should potentially get 11 guys under SL. Parish, Newman, Weatherspoon, Brammer, Anthony, both Moses, plus the 4 from the upcoming class.. SL and the staff are aware of the scholarship issues and they will be addressed but Bean is a TALENTED kid.. He is no-where near the finished product today that he will be when he leaves UNT.

He won't leave after this year.. Maybe next year if he produces but not after this year

Brugler is a great in how he evaluates and ranks kids, similar in my opinion to Mike Mayock of NFLN.. Really wish UNT could find a way to get him to give a few guys some love like Wilson, Moore..

Where is this rumor about Filani being the OC? This is the first I have heard of that, and would be shocked if that happened.. He just beat the #5 team in the Nation...

Thats why the put it out on the UNT athletics page, and coaches can retweet it

I don''t think they end up at UTEP.. But i do think its possible that GH leaves for a bigger OC gig possibly.. WB and NS have already said they will do what they can to keep SL and I would assume that would apply to the staff as well. GH has only been calling plays for 18 games now, and while the offense has been great this year, it was nearly bottom of the barrel (believe we ranked 117 last year)..

None of us have any idea as to why... Worrying about why his production is down does nothing, outside of us sound like a crazy and clog up these threads.. Get the kid to campus and then ALLOW the staff to develop the kid.. Bean isn't going to come in here and likely start Day 1 or Day 365.. We have multiple kids that are talented.. Fine, Pearson, Quinn already on the team, Martin and Bean in the 2018 class, and the Holgerson kid for 2019... We have a needs at QB because of the lack of depth and yes he (Bean) is having a down year in terms of stats, but again NO ONE has any idea as to why outside of the HS Coach, HS OC, and Bean (possibly)...

Why are we worrying about Bean again... The kid has talent from his multiple offers... Bean is likely to RS next year any way.. Let the kid get to campus and develop under SL and GH... Mason has developed A LOT under them, and Bean will develop as well.

We really need the W vs FAU, Marshall looks good so far but look at the rest of the Marshall schedule.. Their last 5 games are tough with the easiest opponent being by schedule being MTSU, if they can survive that then it will be a really challenging game (if we play them).. Big game as well between USM and LAT.. one of them will have 2 loses

I think they kept going back because of the up field pass-rush UTSA was getting.. going East-West was an attempt to try and make the DL/LBs pause of r a second watching whoever was coming across.. I would agree having Darden or someone being that type of guy, but I would think the thought process is just get the ball into Guyton's hand anyway possible and let him go. Also, Guyton has done a world of good for this offense.. Him coming and taking over that #1 WR spot has allowed for guys like Rico/Smiley/Darden/Lawerence to slot in where they should be. Last year after Goree,Robinson left, it made some guys move up multiple spots.. Also, it helps us having a #1 that can catch everything
