  1. Its easy to say they didn't want it because you could see it.. Missed tackles, Wilson getting tackled by 4-5-6 FAU players, and the OL are just looking around, LBs repeatly getting trucked and pushed back by RBs.. EJ made it sound like (and I believe said) that the team got full of themselves.. Again, how can you be full of yourself when you won 2 games in the last seconds.. and beat down a Lamar team who was only there to get paid (which by the way Lamar put up a bigger effort than we did).. USM is the best win and they only won because the defense grew a spine and held its own for a half.. You can tweet out fun stuff if you know how to prepare, heck they were tweeting out fun stuff this about GH being the OC of the week.. LK and his staff had FAU ready to play and it wasn't even close.. If they got beat down and they had no desire to play, they shouldn't be allowed to play, I'm sure we can find plenty of kids in this state that would love for the chance to play another game.. Wilson, McClain, and all the seniors this is one game closer to them being done with there careers (possibly) and anyone who had "no desire" just hurt themselves of tape for the next level but also their teammates.. What do they need to be desired, Wilson burfing up breakfast at the HoD again (then go on to block after Morris Fumbled the snap)? Hell, Fine got DESTROYED on the last pass of the UTSA game and don't have desire? Yes, it could be there staff was better, but I'm sorry its not the coaches playing the game between the lines.. They call the plays and get the players out on the field, but its on the players.. I did not see one player out there pushing, urging, demanding the group man up and get a stop or get the next first down. I saw a group of man turn into a bunch of kids who hoped they could hit restart or just turn off the game and act like it never happened...
  2. I don't think anyone is calling for checks to be canceled, but i may have missed someone saying they would do that.. Yes teams lose and have off weeks, but I don't recall Bama getting moonwalked down the field on defense and then putting in nearly 0 effort.. Yes, Bama may not be a good example to compare the beatdown UNT got yesterday but the effort UNT gave last night was something I would expect from UTEP or Rice, or after the Portland State game.. They need to bounce back with the big time effort in all phases of the game..
  3. This is not just on SL... this is on the OC/DC and all the coaches, this is on all the guys on the "Leadership Group" or whatever it is called.. If you can not be motivated, then that group needs to be looked into. Yes they have done some really nice things in terms pulling out games like UTSA and UAB, but this games destroyed every bit of positive energy and vibe they had on campus.. This was a major game, and it wasn't all of a sudden right before kick off it became important, it was important since the bye week and only increased after the UTSA game..
  4. Yep they were posting up pics of them on social media... _________________________________________________________________________________________ I'm sorry but this whole they got full of themselves at 3-0 is so dumb, admit you didn't wanna play and you got your asses handed to you because you didn't care to show up/ put in the work... I don't hear teams that win all the time say "we got full of ourselves", if they don't how the hell should a team that 5-8 last year can be "full of themselves" after they have 2 of the last 3 games on luck vs UAB and UTSA.. I hope this is a wake up call, and a reminder after the beat down they took from SMU as well. How many beat downs do they need to take before they remember, they are not owed anything? UNT has no reason to be "full of themselves".. How many of these guys have a winning record at UNT?
  5. Special Teams were the best thing for UNT vs FAU...
  6. To bad we lost out on Lee, the kid from OK that committed to Nevada. Smith and Johnson to me seem like similar backs and Siggers seemed to be more physical but he was still under 200 lbs... Totally agree we need a power back
  7. Crosby is a Safety, from what we first thought... The RB commit possibility could be the kid from Killeen (Tills, I believe)
  8. Anthony Johnson has decommited
  9. After the FAU game, atleast the coaches can say “no position” is locked down.. So we have that going for us, right?
  10. It’s not a cop out.. it shows that this team wasn’t focused. Who knows do they normally have pool parties before the game, maybe but they aren’t posting those up on social media bragging saying “NewDenton” or you don’t believe in us you get the L then go out and sh*t the bed, which is an understatement about last night. The preach Family and this the family trip but yet they will be away from their families over Thanksgiving, and hopefully the Christmas holidays but they pick a mid-oct date? Again, I don’t think anyone is directly blaming the Wives.. but shows and give the appearance of the distraction, and if we had won no one would have said anything. The pool party again likely isn’t directly to blame but that team did not want to play vs FAU nor did try to even convince us they wanted to play.. They had more enjoy going to the pool than they did in maybe the 2nd biggest game of the season.. The problem is the defense is not getting any better.. it’s actually getting worse as the season continues.. Anyone at this point is better than Reff most likely... Reff gave up 69 to FAU, 50+ to SMU, and 40+ to UAB... that’s around 55 points given up alone in those games.. The point is the defense has not progressed, it has REGRESSED not by a little bit by a ALOT.. Again Brooks and McClain went from Preseason All conference picks to no one is on the bench, and the other is playing in quicksand.. I can understand if they did this last year and they did it ALOT last year.. UTSA, WKU, UTEP took us out to the woodshed but that was year 1 and it was all new.. This year the defense has nosedived and been bailed out by the offense to much.. This L to FAU isn’t just embarrassing, it’s down right disgraceful.. The opening BTG last year had Perry talking about how he had a job still because his guys kept fighting, last night that defense crawled and was running to find a safe-space after the first play.. I haven’t seen anyone directly blame the wives..,The point about the wives/player pool party is that they Team was more excited to take some social media selfies than they were to play.. Guyton said after UTSA he had work the next guy.. this was a business trip and UNT came to that business trip, one of the 2 most important of the year, and was not ready.. If you go on a business trip and you get handled like that, you think your job is going to give you a pat on the back and say hey next week? Hell no they arent
  11. It’s very much a real quote, at the end of the interview
  12. Again, it’s on the coaches and the team leadership.. Quinn talked about how he and the other team leaders have players report to them and not the coaches.. It wasn’t the 18-19 year olds calling the defense.. Yes the coaches families may have plans for Thanksgiving but This wasn’t just set up last week.. this likely has been picked out months ahead.. We can say the families may have plans for thanksgiving, but again the coaches and team have a game!
  13. They aren’t that much better than us? Did we watch the same game? They had a WR playing QB at the end of the game lol
  14. I don’t think anyone is single handedly blaming the wives.. The point is they are not kids.. You’re an adult at 18.. SL doesn’t say he has great kids, he says he has great Man.. The point is, yes this team was likely full of themselves after that UTSA game. With that being said, the staff should have been aware of this. The pool party, the wives, whatever else happened it did not allow for the staff to manage/stop this from happening. Yes, they likely overlooked FAU as well but again this stuff is on the staff. If having their wives there meant they had less prep time then it was a distraction.. if they were at the pool and not in team meetings, then it’s a distraction.. Again, you aren’t going to sale me and others that this was a “family trip” when they have an away game on one of the biggest holidays of the year (@Rice for Thanksgiving day weekend). Let’s hope WB allows for SL to drop some $ and bring in a good DC.. SL talked about wanting Reff because of the troubles he had in the past vs the 3-3-5 but that has not came true here
  15. Agreed at time they don’t but they do need to keep the carries monitored.. he has a history of injuries and cramps, also with him leaving it’s likely smart to get smith action on top of his performance in practice is worth of PT as well. I would rather them sit Wilson vs ODU and get him close to 100% for LAT/Army/UTEP, but he won’t let that happen. I’m just glad he was able to not suffer anything major like a pulled calf/hammy in that humidity on top of the turf conditions with players losing their footing. I wish Vito had asked this, but it needs to be asked and I hope @Matthew Brune asks or can find out why Fine was left in
  16. I would have fired Reff and many others on this board.. Who has he shut down this year? SMU ran all over him, FAU made SMU look like nothing... UAB put up 40+.. Yes shut down Lamar, he made a 2nd half adjustment vs USM, and got lucky vs UTSA (just like he did vs UAB as Well).. He has taken one of the better recent players in McClain and seen him decline along with Brooks and All-CUSA pick now become a 3rd CB because of scheme and aggressive play calls with no turnovers to show for it in the most part.. PS- UNT got lucky the UTSA ran it in for a TD as well.. they were pounding away eating clock, more than willing to settle for a last second FG
  17. He took a big hit before half and landed on his shoulder (plus 1 or 2 FAU players) but the crew said he got hit in the elbow.. he came in later and ran once and left not moving/gingerly moving that arm.. he also laid a pretty big blow to a UTSA player in the 4th (I believe) and was in pain (both times he favored the same shoulder/arm his left).. wilson runs like a 220-225 lb RB and is dinged up most likely. This game was not going to be a running game because of FAUs ability to dominate our Defense... them running and scoring made it so we had to pass
  18. I don’t know to laugh or be sad 😞
  19. I think him saying he was going a new way on defense would have been nice to hear.. our strength before the year is our biggest weakness.. our 2 best players and pre-season all conference players are playing terrible or on the bench.. I’m going to say it’s not on WB in terms of picking when the wives go on this trip. I’m guessing it’s the wives pick and then it’s set up that way.. Honestly if you wanna present/sale me or anyone on the “family first” organization why go to FAU in mid-oct over doing this trip during Thanksgiving weekend? Yes someone in the AD department should have likely brought it up saying this is a big game and it should be rescheduled because at worst it’s a distraction possibly..
  20. Congrats to UTSA on the teams first conference win of 2017.. we got that a month ago, and u only beat rice by 17.. congrats! 2 more Ws till you catch us! 3 to pass us! Hopefully you can manage that!
  21. Yea cool and calm worked out great tonite, just like at UTSA/WKU/UTEP last year.. oh and add in SMU this year
  22. If the wife’s went on the trip and It was billed as them joining the coaches, why wouldn’t they go out to dinner and that with the coaches? If the wife’s don’t see the coaches, then why go to FAU of all places (and on the same weekend) and not go to Miami or Hawai’i or some place else?
  23. Agreed he has likely been the best LB (him or Wheeler) if I had to pick but tonite he got trucked/ran over multiple times..
  24. I brought this up to @Venson but I’ll put it out there for everyone.. We all can agree if that FAU was likely the best spot on the schedule in terms of road trips.. with that being said if they do this to be around their families, or whatever reason. why not do this over Thanksgiving weekend? This game was important and it’s not like all of a sudden it was important in the past week. It was know 3 weeks ago on the bye.. UTSA and FAU were critical games for UNT.. Yes, I understand family is important but there are times you don’t change it up and they changed it up for a VERY important game.. We just have to hope the team can adjust and fix the many problems from tonite
  25. Hey Reffs the DC not me.. The MLB hasn’t been great.. Finney and Scott has experience last year, but Garner played a lot during Scott’s injury.. EJ and Garner need to step it up
