LOL finals are the like the 10-14th... Most student do not start studying till the week of the ones who study before they don't start till "dead-week"...
-
I think teams have found a way to man up with him, but also the OL inability at times to stop the blitz has hurt him because he runs mostly deeper routes I believe. Hope he can get his mojo back vs UTEP/Rice and have a field day vs Army LT left him 1 on 1 vs a True FR CB, and it did not look like they rolled a safety over.. FAU i want to say he had some man to man with some help as well. UTSA, I think they rolled a safety that way and I believe Ashton said on the Podcast that Guyton even admitted he now needs to focus/improve on beating double coverage

Uh, don't we clinch the West with a win next week?
BTG_Fan1 replied to meanrob's topic in Mean Green Football
We should blow them out by 30-40 and I hope we do and it brings out fans in force for Army after they beat us in our bowl game last year -
Would be huge if we got to hold the Championship game, not just in terms of sparking interest in DFW, but just another additional game of revenue for the AD Office as well, and the interest it would spark with students on campus as well that thought UNT was only just barely getting by.
-
I think they do one later in the year, but I may have them confused with beIN?
-
Have to agree, and i would assume teams wouldn't like that bowl because of practice team and classes.. Also, I really doubt New Mexico is an option for us. I don't like the FL options, New Mexico likely wouldn't be a sexy match up either, and Frisco is to small.. Give me Armed Forces or HoD, and dreams of the Alamo bowl as my pie-in the sky choice.
-
I think the biggest problem with the Alamo bowl maybe that UNT has not traveled well to SA to play UTSA. But I would think a solid number of UNT fans would go down for the game for a bowl game vs a P5 regional team like K-State compared to playing UTSA
-
Torn between the Armed Forces and HoD.. Armed Forces because I think it would be 1-nice to play at TCU and turn it green along with downtown FTW, 2- we have not played in FTW and would be interesting to see how many fans come out to the game, but the biggest strike is playing someone like Army again for possibly the 4th time in 2 years.. HoD would be my #2 in terms of if it being in Dallas (but I just don't like Dallas in General).. But the HoD would likely be a better opponent and possibly a bigger crowd because of just being played in the Cotton Bowl. ------------------------------------------------- Honestly would rather see UTSA play Memphis at Frisco, but I just have a feeling (have not watched a Memphis game) that they would run it up on us.. Also they have DD who may have some ill-feelings to UNT still? Also, I know Oregon has been down and I would be okay playing them, but how is Oregon doing? I'm just fearing a FAU like game and that could/would turn away alot of potential fans to come back next year.
-
Correct on the Davis, had FAU on the mind for whatever reason... I have no idea about if point difference is even included in the possible formula for them to determine home field but UNT needs to beat down UTEP/Rice and hope to god that we can get the ball to Guyton vs Army DBs.. Sorry to UTEP/Rice but this is when UNT needs to be going for the FAU like scores. Recruits with there season finishing up are looking to commit, and laying the beatdowns at the end of the season would likely impress them, get fans attention as well leading up to a championship game/bowl game as well.

Yes this offense has carried this team at times and it has been out-standing at times... But again, these long droughts of 0 offensive is not good.. Yes this offense came out flat, and that is on the staff because of the lack of energy or maybe it was from the terrible field position to start the game on the UNT like 1 or 2 yardline.. But again, the problem is that this was a game UNT could have turned into a statement game, and we missed that chance. Yes the we should be excited by what the defense did, and they did what they were supposed to but when they allowed plays it was the same plays over and over.. The duck passes, guys missing tackles, the QB run into the endzone on a flood play.. The defense was good 75-80% of the game with LT having, I believe 5 scoring drives and 1 missed 53-yrd FG that would have put them up. Yes the ST seemed good compared to the week before but us just hoping for us to not blow out a wheel or shoot our-self in the foot is bad, basically we are happy just being 50/50 on ST. I agree, we have not seen a full game of everything clicking, and yes it was encouraging the defensive and ST output compared to what they have done in other games this year.. This defense has had 2 solid games and can still improve. The offense needs to get back in the rhythm and they SHOULD vs UTEP/Rice and Army.. But again, this LT game was a game that UNT could have made a huge statement just like we did vs USM... USM we showed we could dish out the punishment vs a normal power teams of CUSA with a double digit win on the road, and LT we should have done that again. Everyone is happy with the W, the only difference between fans is the idea that a 1 point win vs a very injured LT team (majority of fans) and that we should have won by more (minority of fans).. This was a game that UNT if it had put up a USM performance could/would have washed away alot of the bad memories of FAU and impressed A LOT people from recruits to HS coaches.. -
I know SL had a Senior at QB and had 1 or 2 OL that we’re getting looks in the NFL (I believe). No idea who is at QB for UNC now but they are on their 3rd QB in 3 years. The kid from last years who started was the #2 or #3 overall pick last year. They are likely going through the trial by fire stage like we did last year, I would assume?

Of the 80 scholarships over half are SLs recruits.. I have Defended the recruiting in the past but his first clas was more than 25 but some did not make it and his most recent class was 20 that’s 45 total scholarships.. Depth was not a problem for UNT like it was for LT.. LT a number of guys during the game and had 25+ on the injury report. They had to move a safety to LB mid game. Yes the talent they have at roster spot 80 maybe better than our 80th man but our 80th man was not on the field yesterday and there’s was.. -
Maybe opponents winning %, opened winning % or maybe even points/allowed? Also, no idea if LK gets a vote but SL does, SL could case a vote for UNT potentially and win it that way? This is when UNT needs to run UTEP/Army/Rice out of the house.. Sorry to them but it maybe needed...

That is understandable but we should expect more out of the #16 offense... -

Its easy to pick out guys who performed that had 0 offers, and others that have had offers... Its also very easy to find guys with offers that have under performed as well... I think you mean exceptions? But, carry on.. -
When did I say that?

The funny thing is I have followed UNT since the NO Bowl run, going to the bowl game vs Memphis... Yes we can be proud and should be following a W, and never said I was not proud... The difference between the fans on my side and the other fans is that people are happy about a 1-point win... We had the #16 offense going up vs backups and only manage 24 points, among other things... Yes it was a big W and solid in terms of the name of the program, but this is not a W that we will look back and be like wow, nor was it a W that will likely have much of an affect on recruiting like the UTSA game did (but I have no information on that)... I'm not only happy with a 20+ win but damn give me a touchdown, give me more than 1 point.. Heck the ODU game was even to close for a team of ODU record alot of us felt.. This team has ALOT to prove to fans after the beatdown at FAU, and the ODU/LT games are improvements but it not going performances to write home about.. Give us a USM performance that we play shutdown defense and move the damn ball. Who cares if they only have an offer from UNT.. They have a damn offer.. We have people on here critical of Bean and he had multiple D1 offers.. We have guys with 0 offers that are some of the best players at their spots.. Lawrence has out performed Guyton in most games, Fine out performed Morris and he has beaten Quinn and his OSU offer... Dilliman multiple offers and he hasn't touched the field but Khari has... Carry on! -
Again, you asked a question in general... I gave you examples.. Hell we have done the Wildcat vs SMU and UAB and it took us 2 or 3 tries to get 2/3 yards! Again, this came up from how to limit the hits and exposure to Fine running... Quinn is better built to take a pounding than Fine... The idea that fans don't understand playing is funny too... How many times does a defense have to see that inside the 10 that one side of the field will be flooded before they stop it? UAB did this, UTSA did this, LT did this for TDs... It has happened vs UNT multiple times and yet they still have NO IDEA how to stop it and these guys are COLLEGE COACHES..... Reff gave up a conference RECORD, but yet he knows how to coach... This defense has regressed not progressed... This ST has regressed and made MULTIPLE bonehead plays... LT is not a really good team right now.. They could be a really good team but they have been snakebitten by injuries and they are in a reboot just like we were last year.. If i had told we would beat a team and it had 25+ on the injury report, 4 or 5 more go down during the game (including their best defensive player), you would think we would win by more than 1 point... Hell the LT QB is a better Centerfielder than he is a passer! Its a solid win just because of the prestige of LT and its history.. You walk around and 85-90% of UNT students they would have no idea about LT being a G5 power.. No one here bashed or was upset at this W.. The point is game was TO CLOSE and should have been a bigger margin of victory... UNT needs to go out and win by 20-30 over UTEP if they reall want to get people pumped up. Who said the sky was falling at UNT?

The team and players have tweeted about the lack of support and fans in the stands... You know why? Because we have been trash for years, and we are happy with a 1-point win over a LT playing with nearly 25 guys on the injury report and countless more going down during the game.. But yet after the UAB game everyone was saying it should have been by more... Fans are already posting here they are happy with a 1 point win over UTEP and Rice... You want to get students and fans attention, go lay a damn beatdown on someone our size, not a lamar...- 163 replies

Anyone can coach... It's pretty easy.. LOL UNT even helps students finding spots to coach PeeWee teams.. You asked how I would do and gave you multiple examples of what could be done... Quinn has looked solid when he has come in.. Also, SL has talked about using multiple QBs but then never does it... Hilarious that we okay with a 1 point win vs a LT team that has had 70+ players miss a game, and countless more go down during the game.. But yet vs UAB we should have won by more...
-
You asked a question and I gave you an example, you did not limit it to UNT.. My bad at your inability to clearly state what you are expecting... Multiple teams have had success with bringing in a running QB, and UF started it when they would bring in Tebow.. OU would bring in Bell.. UT would bring in Swoops last year.. The funny thing is, Quinn is likely a better passer than all of them.. Bring him in and give him the flexibility... Players talk about the leadership of Quinn, bring him in and let him spark this offense... Also, talk about numbers... How many times have we done the "wildcat" and then run away from Fine so the numbers are even and not get anything or it take us multiple downs to get 2/3 yards...
-
If UNT wants to run a QB Draw bring in Quinn and let him run/pass.. Limit the pounding Fine takes, he is already taking enough behind this OL... But you can keep exposing Fine, just like how people were questioning why Fine was in for 2nd half vs FAU... How is that Iowa is able to have success and they run the Power-I without a QB running the ball? How did teams have success before the read option???
-
Some fans here will be happy with a 1 point win vs UTEP Shhhh.. its only season 2 of the play calling...
-
Fine should not be getting 10 carries with the lack of depth at QB, and the # of injuries that he already has... LMAO Carry on..
