I’m assuming we want the paid game because of a 7-digit pay day from them instead of whatever program coming to Apogee?
-
Wouldn’t be a terrible idea with the stadium sitting 18k..
-
Can not wait and totally agree, I feel like a DL of Hambone, English, Young would be a dream come true.

UNT needs to win this by 3+ touchdowns and have a field day on offense

Under Seth Littrell, UNT is now 6-1 in one score games

The strength of our schedule? Nearly every team played was even or better teams from SMU to LT. After USM no team was better than UNT, all them were even to UNT because of the beat down and that was when we as fan started to believe/think this could a really special season because we dominated. Again, we got our butts kicked by SMU but yet held our own vs Iowa? We let UAB run and throw it like crazy but yet we shut down UTSA for the most part? We looked like a spring practice defense vs FAU, but yet we can shut down and flip a switch vs USM? The schedule if anything has been likely one of the toughest in CUSA from week 2 to 9, with us having only real “easy” team in ODU. We are not ranked #16 because we have dominated vs CUSA, we have seen our average PPG drop basically every game since USM.. Yes we would likely be lower in the SEC, and if we were in the SEC we would not be happy with the likely results. Not complaining about the W, I’m complaining at the mindset that we are okay with a 1 Point win vs LT.. dear lord we are not playing Clemson playing Bama for the National championship.. We are playing a damn CUSA West game vs a bunch of 2/3 team guys. Yea more money would likely help the recruiting, but the biggest draw to recruits is winning and fans. We had a huge wave of momentum after USM and UTSA then crapped the bed and a lost it ALL vs FAU.. You want to see larger budgets, go beat down some CUSA teams like LT like we should have and not settle for 1 Point Wins.. LT and USM recruit better because the challenge tough teams and beat the teams they should by more than single digits... We have beaten 3 teams with winning records in UAB, UTSA USM and we know about UTSA record being inflated by trash teams.. Everyone else is .500 or below.. We have looked far worse in the losses than we have looked good in the wins.. What is has become is fans are okay about a 1 Point win and a team that is just getting by in CUSA.. A point win vs a team who may not make a bowl game and that was littered with 2nd and 3rd team guys playing and they hung with us, but yet most people on here were pissed off after a 3-Point wanting more vs a better UAB team.. We complain and ask why recruiting sucks.. it sucks for a number of reasons and the lacking statement/prove it games is another reason... We have given up more points than we have score this year, and that is not a what winning teams do. UNT made a statement vs USM and vs UTSA, and could have made a major one vs LT, even SL has said he fine with close wins but the team needs to focus and win by biggeer margins. We beat UTEP by single digits, we have some major problems. -

We have the #16 offense in the Nation, and had a top 60/70 defense last year, this year it’s 100+! The #16 offense only got 24 points vs a bunch of backups.. A P5 WR in Guyton, couldn’t handle man to man vs a True Freshman CB at LT? FAU in game 7 of its system set a conference record for yardage.. they single handily raised the PPG we allow by 5! We are closer to the end of season 2 than we are we to the start of season 2.. how long do we keep riding this they need time to develop? Georgia state fired its HC and he got hired the same time as SL.. SL let go of TP and everyone is over Biagi but yet give the other phases of the game time to adjust still when the OD/DC have been here a year longer... Missouri fires its DC after something like 2 or 3 games this year.. This team beat expectations last year and it has/ will tie/beat most everyone’s this year.. Instead of us settling for single digit wins, let’s do something bigger. The complaint is not with the record, it’s with the margin of victory.. we are -3 points on the season. We wonder why we don’t recruit well, well it’s because we never put anyone away or we get our butts kicked.., a 1pt victory is nice vs a P5 but a 1pt vs a bunch of g5 backups isn’t impressive, even if it’s a solid program like LT) -

I'm going to guess that the NCAA or CUSA has to recertify uprights or something dumb, just like how the NCAA has to measure sign off on the backboards/etc for the basketball games. Rip them down after Army when we are West champs and undefeated at home -
Why Do We Struggle With Recruiting?
BTG_Fan1 replied to AustinFromUNT's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
UNT is viewed as a fall back school both for recruits and most students as well. The years of losing, and from what has been said about the past coaches not going around like they should have hurt UNT. Beans coach said, he had not seen a UNT coach in years.. Having 1 good team every 4/5 years also hurts in fan support, thus leading to lower donors and in the end less $ to spend. Also, it will sound dumb but the lack of QB success has hurt UNT. DT put up solid #s but after that we played QB musical chairs till we hit on Fine. QB play evaluates everyone else, and can downgrade everyone else as well. Fine alone is a major selling point for the staff to other recruits because he is someone who will be here another 2 years. Having multiple 1st or 2nd team guys in CUSA will help as well. Another factor, we lost half of our coaching staff. The new coaches have to go and create/Continue those connections with the HS staffs.. there is now bridge period between LeBlanc and Yellock or Ek and Koontz for these new guys to learn who to connect with and so on.. This staff has shown the ability to find diamonds and late class signees that have been over looked (Greg White, Siggers, Darden). The past class was hampered because of the number of OL they got. OL are not the sexiest of recruits. Parish has the frame and feet to potentially be a really good LT, Moses we have been told if he was 2 or 3 inches taller he is on a P5, and Brammer was challenging for the RT job before the season.. Its a challenge to hang onto kids as well. Yes, we are winning and getting it done on the field this year, but we are in need of more statement wins like USM. Beating a 2-5 or whatever It was ODU team by 7 is not going to get catch the eye of the recruit, let alone leave a super positive memory of UNT. The UTSA win was big because of the idea that UTSA could/would run the table because they beat Baylor. Again, we have a losing history and we have to change that view throughout the entire state. To me, UNT is in a good spot right now if we can preform like we should. JayD talked about a number of kids are looking to commit and are taking visits.. UNT needs to go out and take UTEP/Rice out to the woodshed and throughly dominate them along the lines of like 50+ to 20.. Let these recruits see UNT dominate in person. Army as well should and could be another similar game like UTSA that it’s tooth and nail vs a solid Army team that we sometimes recruit against. -

What is up, is that we as fans should not be just happy with a 1 Point win vs a team in LT that has been wrecked by injuries.. People on here were legitimately pissed off after beating UAB by 3 but yet totallly happy beating a bunch of 2/3rd team guys by 1.. Yes it’s LT so on paper it was a solid w, but looking deeper it was not because of injuries.. We can keep saying oh we were 1-11 2 years ago but no players, coaches, AD office use it as an excuse. SL has had 2 recruiting classes and nearly 50 of his own guys on this team. LT could have and should have been a statement game.. UNT made a statement vs USM saying we are real and ready to play, UTSA was a statement to local kids that this team will fight, and LT was the chance to prove throughout the conference we are back and that FAU was just a hiccup. We can say oh the guys SL has aren’t as talented, that is a damn joke as well.. Jenkins a kid with multiple offers was on the bench to a Hall who had 0 offers, and Jenkins came in and replaced a Preseason All CUSA 1st Team.. our 2 likely defensive MVPs in EJ and Khari had 0 other offers... Fine beat out Morris, Lawerence beat out Darden and went from 1 catch last year to possibly the most consistent on the team, with Barr being replaced by the JUCO C with 0 offers as well.. Ive said it 100 times, but no one is mad or disappointed we won.. I’m disappointed we didn’t win by 10/15 points because this team has the ability to score at WILL, if it focuses and wants too (just look at Wilson determination vs LT, he was not going to be stopped).. You win that game by 10/15 and you make a point that UNT is the contender and it’s the passing of the torch potentially from LT to UNT as the model, along with making a huge statement to recruits and HS coaches. Fans can be happy with a 1 Point win, but give me 10/15 point wins like USM and you will start seeing more fans and students.. You will see recruiting pick up as well and the idea of UNT being a bottom dweller go away as well. -

Volleyball will also be looking to clinch the #1 seed as well on Saturday.. the worst they can do is 2nd in CUSA, it’s only a few bucks if anyone wants to swing by and see them as well! -
Would be interesting to see the promotion(s) from the AD department if we had the championship game..

We have a game a week later vs Army lol.. would have to rush to get new uprights -
That makes sense, I thought the Alamo bowl was the 4/5 option out of 6 for the Big12/Pac12(?). Personally, I think it would be easier to sale alumni on SA around Xmas/New Years time (no idea the exact date) than going to shreveport but I’ve never actually stayed in Shreveport just passed through it.
-
It has been thought of he would flip to UNT, and his teammate as well that is committed to Arkst as well (who is a CB). Also, it was posted on Twitter that he was at the UNT game vs ODU. Would say this has been a long time coming.. Question is, if he does flip to UNT, now we have 4 safeties committed.
-
No idea, and we have talked about conferences like the Big12 not having enough teams.. Yes they would likely pass over UNT potentially but I’m sure you could get a good # of UNT fans to SA for the Alamo bowl thus making UNT attractive...
-
What is the selling point that the Independence Bowl is a better game than say the Alamo Bowl?

18' OL (Guard) Kameron King (Marshal) - 3*
BTG_Fan1 replied to UNTLifer's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Let the damn kid do his thing.. Yes it sucks, but he is doing what is best for him.. We have no idea what has changed in the past 3/4 months or however long since his commitment. It sucks because he was one of our top recruits and if it had been another OL lower on the list, no one would have said a thing. We already got 6 OL (5 HS) from the last class and now 3 from this on top of 1 from SL first class. King never said he was done with UNT so we are still in the running. The kid is 17/18 and this is there time in the spotlight, give them a break and let them enjoy it. -
Red/White/Blue eagle on a white/chrome helmet for Vet Day or what if it is the bowl run helmets with North Texas written out On the helmet?
-
Agree about the UNT needing to step up the FT game, and I would like the challenge of SDSU (arent they ranked or at 1 time ranked?)
-
Yes he was, he did it from the start with the early sack deep in LT territory, and was in on a number of other tackles on sweeps and jet plays
-
R. Young was huge, and dominated... Him and English will be a fun to watch Also, Wilson looked a lot bigger vs LT than other games.. Bigger shoulder pads?
-
Now lets hope that UNT can finish off the VBall as well, Believe they have home games on Thursday and a 1:00pm on Saturday before homecoming! Lets pack the house!
-
So if UNT makes the CUSA championship game.. thoughts on SL getting another 1 year extention???
