That is a bowl game and not a regular season game.. The city of Argyle day drew a solid crowd.. the question is why did they not expand it and do something later in the year with another city..
-
Oops thanks
-
You don’t play games in Frisco to attract fans.. what you do is target the individuals, families, and businesses of Frisco and have them come to denton by offering them promotions..
-
Time to go vote.. it worked with Hambone.. maybe it can work again

DT from Butler CC that we offered a couple of weeks ago.. posted his info on here awhile back, he is a .8333 6’3 280 DT with multiple G5 offers

Huge week ahead in terms of Recruiting
BTG_Fan1 replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Agreed... We need size at the LB spot... I'm fine with someone like EJ at LB when he has English/Young in front keeping guys off him, but having a 225 or lighter LB taking on tackles like Wheeler was, it allows for him to get beaten up and worn down.. need more size on the DL/LB is critical, and speed as well at the LB spot. -

Preach it... close games are nice such as this football season.. If you want to impress fans, next year needs to see those 1,3,7 point wins turn into 17, 21,28 point wins...

Huge week ahead in terms of Recruiting

I figure he would be a DE, but would really like to see use add him as a LB... Wheeler took a pounded playing at or under 225 vs Tackles.. Also, think playing him at the Jack gives you the ability to stop the run more -
Honest question... With the 10th coach spot being allowed (soon) and Traylor being a RB coach in his past, any chance we open up and hire him? I know it would be a lot in terms of salary and he would likely command near what GH/TR make but the dude is 1 hell of a recruiter and would be a great addition to this staff in that spot alone... I'm assuming he is likely bound for a coaching spot at ARK with Morris as well... I know SL has a track-record as an RB Coach, and we have Choice as well, but Traylor could be worth it just in recruiting alone...
-
No problem at all... It was said for $2M you only get a coach with 3 winning seasons, and I pointed out we agreed with SL to a $1M contract before he had ever a winning season with no HC experience.. Remember how many people were worried on here about his new contract and the potential of how big the buyout would be if he did not improve? His improvement was as an position coach/OC, not as an HC..

I may have missed it but he never tweeted out an offer? Hoping we can get a McMillan/Coe combo commitment package!

https://247sports.com/player/darrian-mcmillan-46050144 Not ranked by 24/7... but has offers from Toledo, ULL (was committed, visited UNT then decommitted), UCA, and Alcorn State, NMSU (according to his twitter as well)... NO UNT offer yet... some of his tape for everyone.

We have a student base of 38k... the most student to collect a ticket for a football game this year was less than 10k, around 9,800 was the max i heard... The AD office has not been pushing the basketball games for some reason yet this semester it seems like either. I haven't seen signs or anything about basketball like you did last year, but maybe I'm missing them. The difference between UNT and TCU is UNT has a LARGE number of students that drive up to denton for classes, work on the weekend, or go home on the weekends... TCU im going to assume doesn't have a majority of students working on weekends since mom and dad are footing the bill, living on/near campus because of mom/dad, and students stay on the TCU campus for the weekend instead of going home because Football and the many things to do in FTW instead of Denton where we have Fry street and 4/5 bars.. The numbers you're talking about the campus enrollment vs total population has nothing to do with it.. Venson was talking about getting the city to support the program, but yet it is far easier when you have a far larger customer base. Getting 1% of FTW to show up is 8500 people and 1% of Denton is 1,300 and that is a HUGE difference in terms of people to market to and capture. The best way to attract people to the games is tying the game in with events/activities that the local community would enjoy... Sounds dumb but doing some art gallery thing that students could sale art in the concourse, embracing and inviting more Denton youth leagues, etc.. The question is though, do you want butts in the seats or do you want to make money?

Huge week ahead in terms of Recruiting

Question for the recruiting guys... With McMillan's size he seems like a DE (basically the same size as Hamilton)... But with him being a DE/OLB type any potential he could be playing the Jack position next year? Honestly would love to see him at the Jack because of his size with a DL of English, Young, Hamilton.. that is pretty heavy/strong push-rusher group.. -
Added a Memphis and Toledo offer as well.

18' QB Clayton Tune (Hebron) - 3 star
BTG_Fan1 replied to UNTLifer's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Patterson the Ole Miss QB just said he would be transferring to Michigan as well.. -
Have to realize most students are more focused on finals this week.. Signing up and that for the bowl game is at down on the list of things to do..
-
SL had 0, and got 1 million..
-
Totally agree.. Frisco would be a great city to focus on because of the $, and it’s growth. How UNT did the City of Argyle Day, it needs to be expanded to other cities..
-
The problem is the % and the number of people. TCU is in Fort Worth all alone, similar to UNT but the population differences. Just googling the population of Ft. Worth, it comes out to be 854,113 in 2016.. Denton’s population is 133,808... We need to focus outside of just Denton and expand our brand into other areas.. Also, I really do believe WB and the ticket office should offer a season ticket package that covers all sports all year. Get the tickets into the fans now and make it so they realize they spent the money and it’s not an excuse for them not to go.

DRC: Ennis safety high on UNT after visit to school
BTG_Fan1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
The kid likes/loves UNT is how I feel.. he has visited multiple times, and we were his first visit after his decommitment from LT, and he visited on his first or one of his first OV. Disappointed we didn’t get the commitment but hell, I’m happy he loved his time in Denton and we left an impression. Just don’t crap the bed in the bowl game have some of these kids change their mind. -
18' WR Maureese Wren (Mesquite Horn) - 3*
BTG_Fan1 replied to UNTLifer's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
He left Ark because of the disappointing season on top of the potential coaching change and Morris and his new staff not reaching out to him, I would assume. How you turn around a program is showcasing and developing kids. Wren is a kid with P5 offers, which likely means he better potential to get to the next level. LT has produced quality WRs to the NFL in Henderson and Taylor.. If you look at the other potential programs.. Washington has produced WRs but was it still valid? Did he want to stay closer to home? Utah has had solid offenses but again I don’t think they have had the track record of LT.. Colorado is a Tebow offense with a QB who is a far better runner than passer (I believe).. Baylor/Ole Miss are programs that are under penalties or potentially.. Iowa State is it a flash in the pan? UNT did it’s due diligence likely with visiting Mesquite Horn recently as well (Beleive it’s Coach Browns or Filani territory because they were tweeted/thanked for coming by) but the kid never visited (or if he did he never tweeted about it). LT has it down in terms of coaching and recruiting. They can sale recruits on winning, location to DFW, NFL production, System Production, playing time, on top of better facilities than most G5 programs.. Yes we have a better stadium and potential IPF but the IPF has not been started, the improved Weight room has not been approved either. If we want to land kids like Wren, we need to continue having success on offense to show this is not a fluke season. We need to bring in better recruiting coach’s and add to the recruiting budget, and this is why I have told the HS coaches who are on here to email the correct people what needs to be changed/improved compared to other schools. Having a recruiting process that isn’t planned accordingly or we aren’t doing something other school are doing hurts UNT. We need to be having the recruits meeting Mason and we need to be showcasing Mason and that is a sophomore to these offensive guys. We also need to figure out how to improve and get guys like Guyton the ball and make it so he does not disappear as often as well. Last but not least, we need to win games by more than 1 score and put up some video game like numbers. NFL production matters and again our history is nothing compared to LT, neither is Ark when comparing it LT. LT has had the most recent 1st round pick in Butler to Carolina 2 years ago, and multiple WRs again picked. If you want to improve and get guy, go out and have continued success and bring in ace recruiting coaches and a staff to support them. Yes kids should look at this offense but LT has had multiple kids in the same year drafted from the WR spot. We spread the ball around deflating some guys stats and bumping up others. I get and love Mason spreading the ball, but guys like Rico, Guyton, Darden, Lawerence need to be targeted X number of times each in a game. -
You have to think the money is being spent on the field and not on recruiting, but we have no idea such we haven’t seen his salary. I do believe this is when we need to go get a splash/are recruiting coach and coordinator. Having a solid year and still struggling to recruit is worrisome to this fan. Agreed!!

My question is.. what changed for us to sour on the recruiting people or is it now they are the weak link which stands out more because of the other areas have improved?
