Will UNT's NFL draft drought be broken?
BTG_Fan1 replied to casual fan's topic in Mean Green Football
Someone has to get these late season deals -
1- Great for CUSA because of the exposure he brings from his funny tweets, 2- Hopefully this starts a trend of the G5’s coaches staying, 3- could eventually turn FAU into a solid program which will eventually lead to a UNT/UTSA vs FIU/FAU matchups

we got him Also, the staff is retweeting the heck out of his video as well.

Wilson likely won’t because of his injury history but if he is able to get healthy and make the postseason talent games like the Senior Bowl it would greatly help. He needs a great pro day in terms of speed, health, and size.. if he does that he could make scouts re-evaluate his film. Moore is the most likely if the group, the kid has been clutch, and consistently good. Hope he can get into the senior bowl and allow scouts to see him kick. A good thing is his touchbacks on kickoffs. Mcclain cost himself money this year and likely needs to rest well, and even then doubtful to me. Wheeler to injured and to light to play the OLB spot. -
Best way is to tweet at the coaches saying hey look at this kid, but there is a formal email you can send links of the players into. With all of our coaches being non-verified on twitter it goes directly to there notifications and not another notification section if they were

It’s looking better for the Safety, just said it was not Illinois

So here is a question.. if a DC change is made, is it made following Wednesday’s Dec.20-22 NSD? If it’s been made up, could SL potentially have a new DC lined up with that DC having his recruits waiting for him to come to UNT and they follow him?

I would say 3-5 years just depending on the “quality” of those wins.. Honestly, having the continued 9 wins season would do a lot to boost the losing history of UNT.

Troy OC to South Alabama - Same Position

I’m guessing SL has had some connection with the DC from their time at UNC.. please SL make this happen.. -
What will be very interesting and telling is the tackle spot, maybe the most exciting spot to watch at the spring game.. Can Parish move Murray out of the LT starting spot.. Murray can not handle speed rushers at all.. Can Brammer then take over the RT spot.. efficiently moving Murray to a 3rd OT role.. I think Mose and his brother lock down the C/RG spots as well, and it will be interesting to see what happens at LG between Woody and Weatherspoon (if he is a OG).

What is disappointing is the difference in turnovers from last year to this year.. Our leader had 2 INTs in this year, last year we had multiple guys with 4+

My guy Darden.. 32 catches for 281 and 3 TDs 10 PR for 119 yards and 1 TD, 16 KR for 295 yards

Mason Fine, 12th Most Sacked QB In FBS
BTG_Fan1 replied to FirefightnRick's topic in Mean Green Football
I keep saying this and saw it throughout the season, but where was this said? Also, the biggest reason I’m looking towards the spring game is the RS OL.. wanna see Moses/Weatherspoon/Newman vs English, and Parish vs whoever we have at Jack.. -
I was using the example that people say we don’t size... if we don’t put heavier guys out there.. We do need to recruit better players with more size, but how many kids want to come play for a DC that is getting blown out 6 out of 14 games a year who may not be around in a few weeks let alone in a year potentially..
-
1- I’m glad we have SMU first.. they will be adjusting to a new coach and it will take them time to get used to it even though it’s a likely minor change from what Morris had them doing.. 2- isn’t Arkansas the 2nd game? If so I’m glad, because they have likely going to be in the dumps/adjusting to Morris as well.. 3- No idea when Liberty is, but SL needs to have the team focused and use it as another “statement” game.
-
People get that we don’t have the size and that.. but again if that is the reason for the failure, then adjust the gameplan.. Use 4 DL and 2 LBs, shift over an OL to DL etc.. sticking with the same system and getting no results and making no changes is inexcusable.. Totally agree.. adjust the scheme to the personal we have! Well see about the Co-DC thing.. it was EK calling plays in Refs scheme... EK was the new one to the scheme and had the successful year of the 2.. Year one we were in the 70/80s range in terms of defense. This year we were in the 110+ following the first FAU game, and likely back around there after Army, FAU and Troy.. I would say you bring in a new DC and you give them a pass year 1 but Reff this defense is/was mostly his guys.. EJ, Wheeler, Hall, Jenkins, Khari, Hambone, Davis played a bunch in the bowl..

'18 JUCO RB Deandre Torrey (MGCCC)
BTG_Fan1 replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
They said it during the Championship game, because I was shocked thinking he was the weight of EJ.. We have had chances I ageee, like the kid Devonte Lee from OK, this class. He ended up committing to Nevada with Perry I believe, when we had the other RB (Johnson) committed. Adding a back like Lee would be a solid addition to Smith, Johnson, Torrey, and Siggers (if he is an RB and not a spot guy now). I would be fine with it if he can do it.. No idea how reliable he is with carrying it or his vision though. Also, he didn’t seem to play (if at all this year it seemed.)? -
I’m honestly curious.. you said you don’t like to fire someone after 1 bad year and he is on thin ice, but this defense regressed so much.. nearly have its games, it didn’t do anything SMU, UAB, Army, FAU x2, and Troy), the 2 best defensive players were either benched (Brooks) or lost for 1/2 the year (McClain).. What makes you think he could improve next year, with that being said.. he can’t go much lower as a unit so it’s bound to improve, but they are losing a lot of key piece from McClain, Jenkins, Wheeler, Andy/Tillman with us having no idea if has or will rebound (since they stuck with Jenkins yesterday)?

'18 JUCO RB Deandre Torrey (MGCCC)
BTG_Fan1 replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Troy had multiple “big backs”.. the RB they had yesterday was as big as our DL and 25+ lbs heavier than our LBs, with him being 240-250 lbs.. With teams going towards quicker/smaller LBs, having a bigger back that is physical is a great way to counter.. Heck look at Singletary at FAU coming in around 215-225.. We can say the “bigger” RB may not have a major impact but it would be a great asset to have... Having an RB that is bigger than CUSA lbs would also, help us establish a physical presence as well because of LBs and DBs having to deal with a guy of size..
