UNT Athletics needs to finds ways to get people from these different schools involved.. doing things like UNT teaching Alumni of the week from different school districts, and UNT Alumni concerts to bring back people would be 1 way.. Also, offering increased Alumni networks/ teaching aids etc would help build a connection and hopefully bring some of them back.

If our biggest worry is kids passing on us because we don’t have enough UNT NFL players, then the staff is going about it completely wrong.. Yes it’s great we have 2 RBs and a LB in the NFL, but none of those coaches are still here that coached those players... if you want to present how UNT can help you get to the NFL, then the staff/Football staff should be pointing out who they have coached that has played at the next level. Do you think a kid like the TE recruit Shorter would be happy to know SL coached Gronk? Who cares if Gronk isn’t a UNT alumni, he didn’t get to the NFL just because of playing at Arizona, he got there because SL coached him up. Ek did this last year, he pointed out on Twitter he had coached 5 guys that played in the Cowboys/Redskins game last year.. The staff needs to point the positives or find positives and expand on them and not continue pointing out the very minimal NFL success with an LB, a FB, and scat back RB.

With how bad this defense was last year.. he could commit here play 1 year under this staff, theen they are let go and he then may/may not fit into the next staffs schemes.. Again all of this is pure speculation as to the reason for him decommitting. Diving into this is will only drive us into a paranoid state and more self doubt..

The idea that we think it’s the lack of NFL production is just looking for a reason to doubt or make an excuse.. I’m sorry but ULL, Toledo, Vandy don’t have any better LBs than the guys we have produced off the top of the head. nor are any of them true NFL production factories.. We thought we had 0 chance 3 days ago and now we are in making up excuses.. Could it be he realized how EPICALLY BAD this defense was? could it be he valued the prestige of a Vandy degree over UNT? Could it be the SEC vs CUSA?

That’s likely what will end up happening. Why go to a P5 like Tennessee, Arkansas, etc. and he can’t do the “fun” things he been doing at FAU and have success. If anything LK if he can continue what he has done at FAU, he will make himself ALOT money just by waiting (Just look at the Oakland Raiders and Gruden, 10-yrs, 100M to coach and he has been out of the game years).

P5s can call as much as they want, but if he isn’t interested then it’s a mute point.. Dude had multiple options this year and he didn’t take them.. it’s been said he can do pretty much anything he wants at FAU... So why leave?

Don’t be bitter.. kid owes us nothing.. he is doing what is best for him and his family... No matter what, where else he goes.. they will be the fall back/2nd option. Vandy is a great education and in the SEC. can’t doubt or be disappointed because many people here 3 days ago thought we had 0 Chance.

Totally agree. No where does it say anything about the NFL, and it’s not like Vandy, ULL or Toledo are pumping out NFL talent. If he goes to Vandy, you can’t hate because of the quality of the education.. Also, they are still the back up/fall back school because he committed here first. You got no idea what the situation is.. it’s easy to post here being critical of a young man who has way more on his plate.. yes it sucks we lost a really good recruit. He is looking out for himself and his family, he doesn’t owe any of us nor UNT anything..

And Thompson has been told he will compete and with his size I would assume likely get a LB spot over Fulp well this didn’t age well lol

Winning and before that likely system, and selling kids on why not NDST.. Having coaches that can recruit.. Being the only major sport in ND, and a booming/expanding jobs market as well in ND.. Also, has hurt the last 2/3/4 recruiting classes having a QB like Wentz to sale to other kids about them coming there to play with a potential NFL QB, and after he left playing in a place that produced the #2 pick.. Lets hope that the staff is selling Mason to Offensive recruits.. CUSA player of the year, 1st team QB, potentially the best QB in TX next year... Just have to hope the defense can put some stops and this offense can avoid those extended cold-streaks and get a W vs Ark. for Fine to get some pub and hopefully get UNT on the map.

Have to think he shouldn’t need a lot of time. Since he will have the spring to adjust, along with him having multiple solid offers. Similar to Jenkins (or even better offer list) and Jenkins was hampered by getting to campus only 10-12 days before this first game vs SMU 2 years ago.

Those 1,000 fans raised enough money to help build I would asssume the new $50 millions facility that FAU talked about.. we can get the IPF funding finished.. I think it’s crazy talk, a program with less support is moving faster than we are and many fans here don’t realize it
