Kiffin factor Keeps Seth Here Longer?
BTG_Fan1 replied to Mike Jackson's topic in Mean Green Football
Don’t think that SL stays, just to get a conference championship, but I do think LK will have an impact on G5 coaches. LK has coached at major programs and major media markets, and him settling down at FAU just shows he is waiting for that 1 job or he is truly happy at FAU.. You have to think, if you can have success at FAU the recruits will come even if it’s a G5 (just look at last years class and FIU with 2 4* DTs). Not having the pressure, media, etc of a Bama, OU, etc is a huge as well if the school can invest in the program as well. Also, SL dream job seem to be OU, and that is held by Riley... and I have no idea if Riley would even consider leaving and if he did, where too? SL is a smart guy, but I do think he will be around for the foreseeable future. -

Do we know is he a Dec or May transfer? Also, picked up an Ohio offer as well. -
Did OSU/Tulsa offer his commitment to UNT? I just took it to Mean they had interest, but I could be wrong.

Was going to ask the same thing. If it is, it just shows how badly needed the IPF is needed at UNT and how much of a disadvantage it is not to have one.

Is it time to revisit the twitter rules for recruiting?
BTG_Fan1 replied to Harry's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Really wish/hope we could push and look into this more as a fan base. It could be a potentially huge advantage with our fan base and notable sports media personal all over DFW because if they perform it will only lead to more UNT coverage. . @AustinFromUNT has tweeted repeatedly at WB asking him if UNT would/could do a fan meeting on what is and isn’t allowed in terms of recruiting, but never gotten a reply I believe. I do think a meeting from the AD office on what is/isn’t allowed would be great and a way for WB/SL also to communicate with fans as well (and potentially be an event for season tickets sales or donations). I do think it has hurt us at times the lack of support a recruit could get from a UNT offer compared to other schools, but it’s not the specific reason we lost someone. I also, hope we can have more respectful fans as well if we do decide to turn up the twitter performance. The negative comments about recruits going else where (like Thompson to Vandy) only hurt us. -

Would love it, a lot more exposure to CUSA, increases the view that CUSA is a better conference than it is viewed now.. better deal hopefully for the conference when it comes to TV time as well. -

It should be but people here are looking at 13-1! Beating Ark, SMU soundly and facing FAU at home and losing.. -

I will definitely be saying this is a 6-7 win team next year.. 1- The defense sucked, 2- OL play was terrible, 3- We lost critical leaders on defense and no one proven to replace them, 4- Trevor Moore.. -

This was not a A- team, and I’m going to say the national media didn’t watch many games if they think this was an A- team.. We were 0-3 in national games this year as well(Iowa, FAU, Troy)... -

Close wins vs P5s are great, not vs a 6-6 Baseball player turned QB LT team.. not vs a 6-6 UTSA that has 0 offense.. not vs an Army team that UNT is more skilled than and talented than, and oh Army runs 99% of the time and we have faced them 3 times in 14 months and give up 500+ yards rushing.. Take your head out of the sand, this was a 6-7 win team that won 9.. This team is not an A grade team.. -

I’ve said this multiple times but will again for you.. Close games will not pack Apogee when you beat UAB/UTSA/LT by single digits.. it’s different beating a P5, but not CUSA.. When I say settle, you are fine with that 3 pt W vs UAB (who remember everyone said was a push over that week, and I said they would be a tough team), 1pt W over LT that is devastated by injuries (before and during the game, with a baseball CF at QB, and a missed GW FG by LT). I’d rather enjoy us beating down programs FAU style to grow the interest in the program and fan base. -

You can settle for close wins.. I’m not settling.. I want to pack Apogee, get students joining the MGC after graduation and increasing that .03% membership rate for alumni and you do that by going out and beating down programs FAU style.. -
Well Hank had a role in it in the pass apparently and he would be a good contact to have to at least find out who to contact now. If anything, just having the numbers in terms of fans interested, and it being sent to Hank would likely lead to it being brought up to WB.

We did overachieve.. the hope needs to be we sustain or improve and not regress. These close Ws need to be 17+ point wins next year, if you want to show coaches, fans, students, alumni that UNT is truly trending up. Defense needs to show a major jump and the offense needs to be more consistent to make up for the lack of Trevor Moore as well. -
Even better.. @trud1966 email hank and hopefully we can have a list pre-made with an idea of #s of people..
-
When rumors come up.. please post link to thread...
-
Can we pick which rumor? UT or TT?
-
Send it into WB.. I’d even suggest a thread with some generic ideas (table size, price, time/date,etc) and email it into him.. The Department can use the cash

Nothing on twitter about it..

Yea those aren’t on his 24/7 but he has a huge offer/scouted list of schools -
Offense is Martin.. The kids tape he just puts it in the right stop, and has sneaky speed.. and just looking at him in the pocket, it reminds of me Sam Bradford at OU.. I do think he could work on the throwing motion some, but excited to see what he can do in Spring ball. (Hope he can get a few of those Manvel/AM commits to flip) Defensive is Gibbs, just because I view him as a kid that could potential play CB or S... He is nearly 6'0 and 200 lbs, which is maybe the most exciting thing. (Honestly hope they leave him on Defense, and not move him around). Nixon is my sleeper. Nixon seemed to be have better stats than White (the former AM, now OU commit) but isn't viewed as a top-tier prospect because of the offer list. Hopefully he can get up to the 230 lb range. Shaw is my breakout/potential super star of the class. Kid seems to play like Hamilton but has more weight. I haven't watched his tape recently, but I want to say I loved his ability to penetrate

Noticed he played RT (mostly), RG and LG, and he seemed to be light on his feet (pulling as a OG and getting downfield on screens) and was the blind-side tackle for the lefty QB.. Has had a ton of looks and offers from smaller programs... New Mexico looks like the biggest school to offer to him... Wonder if UNT could get him with a PWO/BS offer. Would be a good addition to me. -

FAU got votes because they steamrolled teams.. not by beating teams by 1,3, etc... When you are in a g5 such as CUSA, you have to blow out CUSA programs to show you are a level above. FAU did this vs everyone besides Marshall (who fau beat by 5) We may have had a better SOS but FAU made us look like Lamar both times and multiple other CUSA programs... Also, SOS does play into rankings, just listen to the CFP committee and others, UCF did not get in because they play weaker teams more often than not. Yes going 12-0 got them ranked, but again playing the likes of UCF, Memphis, etc and winning is better than betting UAB, Army, and LT by single digits when they are not ranked. The reasons that CUSA/SBelt do not get votes is because they are not viewed as power conferences, or conferences that generate enough solid and stable competition. What I mean by stable is teams that stay good for years and not a 2-3 good years then crush down but continue it over basically multiple different QBs. .. Charlotte, UTEP, Rice bring down CUSA (and it hurts UNT playing both of them instead of just 1 like FAU). The traditonal powers of CUSA in LT, WKU, were very weak this year (both went 6-6).. Schools like USM, MTSU, Marshall had solid games vs bigger programs but again they had their own struggles in CUSA.. UNT/UTSA/FAU/FIU broke the model and showed a TON of potential. IF UTSA/UNT and FAU/FIU can continue the trend of going up and winning it will do A LOT of good for CUSA. If USM/WKU/LT can get back to 7/8 win programs, and the TX/FL schools can as well it will improve the conference greatly. Yes Troy has been great and had multiple 10-win seasons and beating LSU, but again the SBelt is viewed as the bottom tier conference and that hurts Troy A LOT.
