  1. Well as someone who has earned this right through my military service. I never encouraged anyone to say or try to get these free ticket, nor am I someone who goes around asking for these discounts/benefits during or after my service... 2nd. you missed my point about the posting of the donation... I would love to see everyone buy tickets, but its more important having people in the crowd... and if people do that then write a check for 50 bucks even better for the AD..
  2. I would think its more critical we don't suffer a blow out, which I don't think will happen. Army is a top 10 defense I believe, because their offense just holds the ball so long.. But I think just a normal, competitive game and we get the L yes it leaves a sour taste in the recruits minds.. but nothing major.. but a W could do the same... but another big W like we did up at West Point could be big in terms of doing it in front of recruits and alot of positive vibes going into next season
  3. Would be good to forward this to UNT, maybe they can send out something to or even encourage other Classes to do this, along with the Greeks doing this like a 2nd homecoming
  4. This line of thinking would make to much sense... Plus these are the fans that say they will show up when we get into a big conference, but don't understand the big conferences wont take someone who brings in no money... offer very little in terms of Athletics Your aware you could claim to be a First Responder and have HoD mail you free tickets, when I Direct messaged them asking what proof they wanted, they said they just hope people are honest... but if you feel like being an honest individual I think all of us would gladly love to see your donation to the MGC with a receipt or something :)
  5. Well you could always contact the HoD and claim to be a First Responder and they will give you free tickets... no proof needed and they will mail it to you as well. with that savings you could park in a great lot or even take an Uber
  6. Preach it #BeatNavy
  7. 1.. The problem with having a game at the Cotton Bowl is 1 we will lose a home game if play as the home team there, and even if play someone like SMU then it would flip and again we would lose a home game every other year, plus we have to pay to rent out the stadium.. UNT isn't making the $ to rent/market a game... Maybe they could talk Notre Dame into a playing UNT at the Cotton Bowl as part of the Notre Dame series similar to when they played Army at UTSA this season. Also, people don't come to Denton because its "UNT" and just not a team that has any real true success in years.. But coming to a bowl game, shows to bowls and recruits that this is something building 2. They announced the game 6 hours ago, and most people have no idea but when they see it online/ newspaper/ co-workers.. It will spread.. Also, students will spread the word as well. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if MWR trips are offered by bases as well such as Hood and Sill, even though most people will be leave and this would be during the work week for most active duty. 3. Army recruits all over and we have had multiple kids get offers from different service academies.Yes to most recent and former Vets, military hardware isn't a big deal, but local recruiting stations should be offering out tickets to kids that are waiting to ship out to BCT and to families that had service members they may/could be excited to see the hardware.
  8. is this reliable information or a guess?
  9. if you got twitter you may message them.. I had tweeted at them and never heard from them.. but direct messaged them and go an answer and link within a few minutes.. Also, you may tweet at UNT Ticket Office and Baker, maybe they can work out something since a lot of parents will have kids then
  10. Glad to see that Army is pumped and excited.. I'm thinking some of their fans will come down, because of the cool weather and the cost being relatively cheap compared to games up in NY
  11. I haven't heard anything nor has anyone in my family that went to UNT either... This should be something offered to students when they are filling out paperwork for graduation and offered a discount or even something that is offered when going through orientation in a payment plan
  12. Not sure if you have seen, but a # of target recruits also have offers from the service academies.. but SMU is something we recruit against as well UNT I bet will have something for students like they did against UTSA, just hope they present it quicker than they did vs UTSA which they did on Thursday night with buses leaving Saturday AM
  13. I wanna see his receipt for the donation
  14. That makes to much sense Harry.. Plus Army and UNT are on the same level.. Army vs LAT isn't a even match up nor is Navy vs UNT... nor is Western Michigan vs UNT... We can only play who they put on the field.. and this is a chance for us to get another bowl W and something that could give us a ton of positive energy and vibes going into the recruiting season.
  15. What if Army beats Navy... that means we beat Army twice, and they beat temple that beat a ranked Navy.. and army could also beat a ranked Navy as well if they are still ranked #JustSaying
  16. There is nno disrepect playing Army again at all.. Honestly it's great. People can say oh we should be playing Navy and LAT vs Army.. Those games would/could be very 1 sided which no of the bowl games want because it will make fans leave early and wont be something to watch on TV either... Also with us ending up in the HoD most likely LAT got to pick who they would play as well since AF and HoD are both ran by ESPN. Navy is a bigger/ranked program and that is something LAT wanted along with playing in DFW... and the HoD wanted UNT most likely.. Again, Army and UNT are in the same class and are both below LAT and Navy... Plus C-USA most likely wanted these match ups as well, for the conference possibly have a better record as well... Plus it seems fair to pair up APR teams vs each other as well. Its very typical to over-react on here for some members... Some people on here thought SL was good as gone after the USM win, but after UTEP they were ready to fire and move on from some of the coaches on the staff... Honestly playing in the HoD is a big deal because its a local game and in SMUs backyard, and playing Army is something honestly that could be give us alot of positive energy going into the spring/ signing day/ and summer camps as well... Everyone needs to remember how we felt after the last game vs Army.. I'm not saying we will come out and dominate again because these teams are very different from then but this is a school that we recruit against a lot and a game that will be played when recruits are home and watching TV, along with local kids have the ability to go to the game as well( Which i hope UNT can find a way to get a ton of tickets to give to local recruits or even make it cheaper for them to come see us play.)
  17. Yes I believe their other QB should be back.. He is the passing QB and had a broken hand the last time we played. I believe the QB we saw is their #1 with the injuried being the sub QB/Passer but I could be wrong. Will be a solid W if we can win, to say we beat a top 5/10 defense in the nation twice
  18. Crazy jump in price... Understand its a bowl but damn
  19. what are the prices of the tickets? I wanna say I saw 25 through the HOD site but then 50/75 on the UNT website??
  20. Oh I know I'm just wishing they would flip the matchups so LAT Navy is once HoD and UNT/Army in FTW
  21. I may hoping for UNT/Army in FTW... game could be sold sold out wth the free tickets by the bowl to Vets and UNT fanbase
  22. Things like this make people become emotional and financially invested into the school... even though it's 50 bucks it's for a game which is well worth 50 if they win.. but if it's an L, it's offset by the brick.. doing these keeps people coming back to the school and interested because of that small amount of $ invested
  23. Honestly UNT vs Army in FTW with LAT vs Navy is great for both sides.. LAT gets their game in Dallas, and UNT plays in DFW.. LAT may not like the Navy match up because of them possibly not being ranked but its a solid name for them to be matched up with. But the real question is, why is the HoD viewed as a bigger bowl than AF? is the payout bigger?
  24. Also, I'm not sure how the funding project is/will go but we all saw that Baker wanted to build an indoor practice facility, would be a great time as well to have people donate as well... Do something like: Game Tickets(Alone) say like 20 bucks.. (I'm sure tickets will be more but just a rough idea) Game Tickets/ Pre-Game BBQ with Baker and President Smatresk field questions about the growth of MG Ath. for say 25 bucks per ticket Game Tickets/ Pre-Game BBQ w WB & NS/ brick with your name/message or Coaches Dinner- 50 bucks Game Tickets/ Pre-Game/ Brick/ Coaches Dinner(During Dead Period) 65 bucks Stuff like this will help open up the Coaches along with the AD and President of UNT more to the public. Doing this allows fans A) to get in a Pre-Game BBQ for only a few more bucks which I think alot of people would enjoy because its just like tailgating and no worries about food/set up or tear down either... Also, it allows people who maybe not be very closely tied to the school that are only starting to become interested because of the "Success" to hear and meet with WB and NS and their vision for the entire school. Then offering people the ability to donate to buy a brick as well could add to the program a bit, but mostly it is meant to link people to the school. Also, the meeting of the coaches again, makes it so that the fans can enact with them will only bring more people in. We have heard about about the coaches outside of SL, EK, Reff, and GH are.. let more people experience that and it will truly add to the fan base as well.
  25. Are we allowed to have recruits at the bowl game?
