Hoping this possibly new coach could come in and lock down these guys late.

'17 QB Cade Pearson (Texas High) [LOI: NT]
BTG_Fan1 replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Great news. Love how it will give him and Izzy even more time in the system compared to coming in during the summer/fall. Also, smart moves to have Izzy, Pearson, Guyton, The JUCO OL. The offense needed a boost and helps with these guys getting here early. -

All-time best UNT FB player you ever witnessed

I know we have seen Orr, Dunbar, Robertson, even Quinn be active on social media helping out UNT, along with Trice and others... I hope that WB and SL can somehow bring back these guys like Booger, Spencer, Kassell, Buckles, etc just like they do Mean Joe. -

Well I know that NCAA only allows, I believe 10 different coaches on the staff. I wonder if this fellowship program was a way to increase the staff without it officially happening. -
IDK if music does, but you have to remember UNT hasn't had a very good program for alumni that give back like at other schools let alone have other sports outside of football come close to breaking even. Also, the lack of some degrees hurt the school. They recently just started up a Sports Management degree, and they are looking to expand into more sports orientated degrees which I think will help as some of these kids are looking to get into coaching/ sports careers.

Yes Perry was one of the better recruits.. Him and KP(who left at the same time last year for Tech.) Wonder if this has been in the works for awhile now with the Choice coming onto the staff? -
Need to be running this and tagging every single recruit, committed or not in this.
-
These bigger schools like those have no trouble recruiting in DFW and already play here with TCU. You would most likely have to go out the region. For a department that is tight on money, playing locally is a better draw and gets us in front of more players as well!
-
What did the prior staff do? Honestly, the staff needs to reach out and do something. Oakland is an up and coming team.
-
I know his rookie preseason he was on with the Chargers. Believe he made it to the 2 or 3rd round of cuts.

'17 DL Lagaryonn Carson (Texarkana Liberty-Eylau)
BTG_Fan1 replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Do we know what he has done for him to be suspended? As much as its worriesome, if the kid suspensions are for something not major similar to the UTSA kid. I think the staff should/ would be smart if he can't go to bigger schools give him a chance but have him on a very tight leash. Adding Carson and Anderson late in the period could be huge/would be huge for this program, even if it is a risk. -
I would say most likey caught for cheating, but could be grades. If it had been grades he would have been suspended before(I believe). But could be a nice get if we did land him.
-
Dead is no contact between coaches and players. But players can commit to the offers they have already received
-
As much as that sucks that we couldn't land him as a PWO, it shows the staff can pick these guys out at least.
-
The only thing I could think of is that he didn't progress as much as they had hoped and maybe with the # of offers and potential recruits incoming they thought he would be better suited at OT. Also, I never understood why we would offer to him when we moved Dillman to Def and who knows where Chumley goes.

OL Eleasah Anderson (Alief Taylor) [Verbal: Baylor]

Any chances we hold maybe 1 or 2 spots for kids who qualify late? Like we assume with Anderson? Or do we try to fill the class on Signing day? -
If we stick with a 3-4 or 3-3. I think it would be wise to get a few big guys to at least clog up the lanes and eat a few blockers. Also, English in his highlight tape played DE in a 3 man front. Would love to have him out on the edge.
-
Wonder if the move from WR to OT was planned by the staff or if Guyton/ other potential targets changed the spot. Also, good thing is this opens up another spot in the class for us.

We can bet on Fine, and everyone should be. But we need to remember we need to play whoever is the best. If that is Pearson, Izzy, Quinn, Augie(if he is here) or Morris from this past year. We also need to remember and believe/hope, that Fine is the worst/lowest ranked QB SL and the staff brings in. No offense to Fine, but bringing in better talent is needed at ever position group on this team.
