  1. The staff is likely reaching out to anyone they think is worthy.. I would think Biagi and the new LB coach will involved
  2. What would be done with said list?
  3. Is this a April Fools joke?
  4. The Pit yes is making money, from other events but with the code upgrades needed it is becoming to costly, right now they are doing the bare minimum to keep it up to current code. From what we have been told in my classes is that the SuperPit when built only cost around 18-20 Million, with it being worth only a few million now on top of it it needing many upgrades just to be in line with other stadiums.. heck it doesn't have enough power to run on its own for some events.. If you look at ground level entry doors that are towards the Pohl Rec center, you can see that they had to cut an access door/panel on left hand side for them to run wiring for generators at times. The underbelly of the Pit as well has classrooms(which I'm in) and they are not in great shape nor are some of the offices/ locker rooms.
  5. Just saying Baseball alone is on average a net loss of 1.6 to 2M per season.. WB is right, that money could be poured into other areas to improve recruiting and facilities. Also, the superpit is nearing the end with the costs of repairs and keeping it up to date, nearly costing as much as a new stadium would. From what I have heard is some big debt is about to come off the books in a year or 2(maybe 3) and I'm assuming that is Apogee, so I figure that is when the new Superpit would come around(but no idea). This is all information I've been told in a facilities class here at UNT. Don't be get me wrong, I would love to see baseball. Heck being in DFW there is enough talent here alone.
  6. I'd love to see a QC or GA spot, with him doing outreach to the High Schools/recruits or fan base.. heck even give him some time if he wants in the AD office.. Orr is a great ambassador for UNT no matter what he does. Just have to hope he would want to stick with us.
  7. 100% but now it's unlikely as an LB coach.. but would be great if he worked in the AD office, some coaching.. Would be great if they just gave him some ability to just see where he would want to go.. just saying and not sure if it's allowed but would be a great time to pair him up with the D staff and do a Zac Orr Summer camp.. have the staff help him and maybe some guys from the NFL come down and do the camp at Apogee as well..
  8. Being from Houston, is nice! looking at the 2008 class they sign multiple solid DLine recruits, with 2009 their top recruit was on DL. http://louisianamonroe.247sports.com/Season/2009-Football/Commits
  9. With the replacement coming so fast, I would think that Ek had given them some heads up. But I do think that the only worry could be with the consistency, and that we would have to rebuild those recruiting connections again. But with that being said, its great that these guys went to quality schools and thankful for what they did to help us start this rebuild the right way. Only makes UNT more attractive to other coaches as well.
  10. Yes people would come for the facility, but it would also be a way for UNT to market it to fans along with recruits. Along with WB wanting to do a caravan of the staff(I'm assuming) and himself(assuming as well), would be a great place to showcase the staff to alumni or even coaches
  11. Was let go by Tech, and has been all over Texas... Davis seemed to recruit in HOU and Hays has 2 stints there Another to watch could be the former OKState OL coach
  12. I'm assuming that this would lead to a boost in funds for coaching salaries, but should we expect a boost elsewhere as well? Besides in the boost of terms of people interested in UNT because of this as well...
  13. I haven't but those #s would seem like a ball-park figure. And while yes it is office space, it is something that President Smatresk has been trying to push. Tech is also charging 10 bucks per person over the age of 18... UNT should just make it free to everyone. Use this as a way for the coaches to go out in force in the surround areas around Frisco, meet with the coaches and players and give out tickets, that's 1 way to improve relates, heck even give ticket to other areas like here in Denton as well. We don't have to pack the stadium, yes we should and yes that would be great, but just exposing recruits and getting them interested is the first step. I'd also leave an impression to invite or even film some stuff about the behind the scenes of The Star.
  14. I would think that these guys would have at least wanted to bring in the best kids possible to better their Resume and connections to Texas as well.
  15. The reason Orr was brought up was because of things said about him by the Ravens, that he was a guy who loved working on film and that the Ravens would love to keep around. With that being said, it would likely be viewed as a gain in recruiting because of the success that he had as well here at UNT and then into the pros. But most of all, people loved how he broke down the film with Robertson during the summer when they talked with Scott. I do think Orr could have been someone who came in and coached a position because of the success he had at the next level and how highly they talked about him as well.
  16. As you said it would be closer and easiler, that would lead to UNT being able to show the team to players, coaches, fan, and help show off the UNT-Frisco campus. It most likely isn't in the deal but I would think Jerry is a smart individual and understand if Neal came back and said we won't renew the deal unless we get 1 afternoon practice at the star... UNT needs to focus and showcase that UNT-Frisco campus, because Frisco is one of the most rapidly growing cities and with UNT expecting to expand, it would be smart to show the UNT-Frisco campus as a local option as well. We view the "waste" of money differently, a bus ride down to Frisco for these guys to practice at the star would cost lets say 5k, and say another 25k to rent the star, if they couldn't work out something cheaper with the cowboys, that's 30k... 30k for them to market and show off the UNT-Campus in Frisco, bring in fans that wouldn't drive up to Denton for a practice.. but then UNT could easily have other local sponsors kick in as well to offset that 30k... 30k yes seems pricey but its easy to drop that with other sponsors, and heck if we get 1 additional student to come to UNT because of it , we still comes out ahead...
  17. Koonz, from what we have gathered on here seems likely to replace Ek as LB coach. but yes very confusing from Vito
  18. UNT is school that needs to invest into Sports... Additional, having UNT come to these areas will serve as a recruitment tool for the school as well. Tech is bringing admin staff to talk to people, along with admissions personal... The costs of practicing at the star and that should be something the school gets in the deal.. UNT can opt out of the deal with the Cowboys.. I'm sure the cowboys would be more than willing to open up the Star if it mean Jerry got another 1 or 2 million from UNT... And even if it doesn't lead to people going from a remote site to denton, it leads to interest in UNT. It gives us the chance to show to players and coaches the perks and some of the advantages of UNT... People keep saying show off the campus, why not show off the Frisco campus which the school is trying to get more interest in. Its not a major waste of time or anything, because these places are only a bus ride away... UNT has to stop thinking inside of the box and think outside of it.. Michigan did spring camp over spring break in FL last year, and this year they are going to Italy.. UNT has to find ways for it to stand out, heck some students in denton have no idea about the Frisco campus... UNT has to find ways to show off, and most likely during the Spring/Fall time we won't have the facilities built up to have something to brag about... We still have no idea about the IPF, all we know is it's going to built but no idea where/when/ or anything else... Also, with us doing these remote sites, you can extend offers to kids for summer camps, scholarships, heck even make these stops for the Caravan thing WB posted about on Twitter...
  19. Going to say, will be interesting to see LeBanc vs Davis when Kentucky plays UF
  20. While I agree about that, wondering if these coaches that were even asked if they would stay.
  21. Question is, did UNT have the chance to match the pay? or could SL and the AD office be waiting on other coaches to lock up long-term in the future?
  22. Would love for us to go after that after Lee Hays for OL... Anyone know of a way on 24/7 to look for coaches that are free?
  23. Well I will say this... Having English and Ham-bone on the DLine and the # of OL recruits, these spots should be attractive to coaches
  24. and here is the link for the 3rd like reported earlier in here... Lebanc http://footballscoop.com/the-scoop/
