  1. I do think Smith is more like Wilson, and I think Siggers is also another Wilson being that he is like 5'8 and 170 but he was super physical always falling forward. I would think Evan Johnson is like Ivery.. I thought Wyche was more like Ivery, but people have questioned it. So I could be wrong that Wyche isn't a change of pace guy like Ivery was.
  2. I thought and viewed Ivery as more of a speed RB that was meant to be more of an outside runner, with Wilson being more of an all-purpose back. I view Wyche more of Ivery and not someone that is super physical like Wilson(even though Wilson is a smaller guy as well). I do like the potential at WR a lot. Hoping we can add multiple solid PWO like we did in Boyd, McIntyre, and Lawrence among others.
  3. I wouldn't blame Perry at all... Our passing game wasn't great so teams would stack the box, its a miracle with what Wilson did at times last season. I think it was mostly limited reps and Wyche trying to hit a home-run every single time knowing he only got 5-10 plays a game. Wyche should be our replacement to Ivery, hopefully this will lead to increased playing time and production.
  4. So here is a question, what are possible negative outcomes for Davis?
  5. I'd just get it around 30 or even less. I think UF had something like 9 sacks of the 43. I totally agree, 30 should be the goal. The OLine and Fine both had some bad games/plays. Fine if he can learn to throw the ball away could cut that # by 5 or 6 alone.(Hoping that this is something he learns over the off-season) 2nd and 10 is better than 2nd and 16 or 18 and taken a sack.
  6. It would be great to save, but that is just a temp answer. We save that money now, but down the road we are still going to end up building one most likely. This IPF and offices, will show that we are serious about committing to Athletics. Also, it should lead to another added bonus/ recruiting point for coaches to sale to recruits. The question is the savings what would you do with the savings? The savings won't be enough to build a new SuperPit(most likely). We could give a big boost to recruiting and coaching budgets, but again we could pay the same as a P5 or more, but coaches will still wanna compete/ coach vs the best because of the doors it opens. EK took the same spot going from UNT to UNC. We look at Marshall, Miami(OH), Memphis, just to name a few. These are schools that invested and have had successful coaches. SL has been successful in turning us around. Yes, it wasn't a great success because we finished under 500 but we got a bowl game. after being blown out by a D2 school and coming off a 1-11 season with 65 scholarship players. We have to invest into the sports programs if you want to truly become and stay successful. While keeping the coaching budget filled is nice, a coach can get up and go if they get a better job, the IPF won't get up and leave like coaches. SL seems to have an eye for coaching talent and we saw that this year with 3 P5 jobs and a Perry leaving(mutally) still getting a quality G5 job as well. Keeping SL around will be critical and giving him the resources needed will make it harder for him to leave.
  7. Sure looks like it, but wondering if he will be a 1 and done.
  8. While I do agree that there could be an uproar, honestly they should embrace it. Yes UNT is known in the liberal arts world, but outside of that UNT isn't a known school usually. Having a successful AD Department, is a great way to market the school and it leads to higher # of students enrolling as well. Also, as dumb as it sounds a successfully sports program makes the money to pay for there safe places as well.
  9. Because of the cost... that is why college teams don't do it... You can make the same argument for why does MLB have domed stadiums and the minors don't... College Football is about the bells and whistles that you can offer prospects. So you would be okay paying for a pavilion, instead of an IPF that has offices, weight rooms, offices for other sports as well? If you want a pavilion, then you can't complain when we keep bringing in 2* players. UTSA is selling the hell out of them playing in a dome, because of the benefits it has on the players in terms of the physical stress it puts on the body. Yes they will still practice outside in the heat, because we play in the heat, but having an IPF allows them to practice inside when its unbearable. Also, it will save them from using and practicing on Apogee as well, keeping the costs of field repairs and needing to move equipment all the time as well. On top of it being used by other sports as well.
  10. Every year we hear about players dying if its a HS kid here in TX or some other state. Heck it has happened with the Minnesota Vikings, and that is a professional team with more resources. Just because it hasn't happened yet, doesn't mean it won't ever happen. Once someone gets a heat injury, they are more likely to suffer it again.
  11. Still think Wyche could and should be viewed as similar to Ivery. Not sure, but I would assume that Smith is more of an All-Purpose Back(so we can agree on that). But from what Ashton has said is that the staff had raved about Smith all season and I think that they were thinking that they could possibly use him during the HoD. I do like Siggers but I think he is more of a physical Ivery, with Johnson looking more like Ivery in terms of shifty-ness.
  12. IPF is just something to be like the other big boys, and it is another sale to recruits, and increases the ability for different events to be held at UNT. Another thing, is that it will take the stress that the heat puts on these guys and allow them to practice once outside then once indoors, with them not practicing super early or super late at night. While UNT hasn't had any heat deaths, why would discount it happening when it has happened all over the US...
  13. have we heard anything from this?
  14. Rico and Tyler Wilson looked great in the HoD, now we gotta hope that they carry it over. And that Guyton and Smiley can be what we think they can be it should be a solid group of WRs. Will be interesting seeing if Nic Smith gets a bit more action that Ivery to help lessen the load on Wilson and to keep him healthy.
  15. Lovelace is on the baseball committee, and looks like he played baseball at New Mexico as well. Also, it would be good for them to get Football up and going before baseball, as it on avg. about a 2.5M drain on the AD Budget, in terms of recruiting, field maintance, flying, etc.. But what is nice, is that UNT would/could have a closer rivals in DBU and others as well around the area.
  16. I'll say with his buyout, maybe UNT should make a run at him! Got some promising talent, and show him the vision for the next SP and what to expect in the mean time, maybe that can get him in the door
  17. Just going to say since it hasn't been brought up... But we got beat by Liberty, for a IPF... Thanks RV
  18. I'm assuming that this is the locker room? Hoping that this is what the upgrade that the Football Locker-room that is on going will look like once its finished.
  19. Peak or Peek one of the guys that WB brought in, was previously up in the Denver area, I believe nothing about UT or Austin..?
  20. Possible locations??? Memphis, Mizzou, OU/OSU, UNC and IU??? All stops by WB and SL before UNT
  21. I wouldn't say I'm worried or nervous yet, I think its more Anxious. While we have been waiting to hear about the IPF, I do think it will announced when they are a plan for upgrades/improvements to multiple facilities... Possible the IPF, track stadium, and whatever else that will be done over the next year or 2, with them possibly given us a location of next SuperPit(Then maybe they introduce designs when we get a new coach, but doubtful). WB has given me hope as least, with the minor changes/upgrades that he has made from the survey at the SMU game. Just improving the experience of people being able to renew quickly and effortless goes along way, plus the shipping of the HoD to most everyone was effortless as well. Heck, WB/SL/ and NS brought back Beyond the Green as well. I do think this people like Mosley, Peek, and others that WB brought in we have do to review there staffs, to see who is a keep and isn't. I do think people will get phased out as more and more people come in. Also, the term Rome wasn't built in a day works here, WB I do agree came in at a terrible time because of the status of the AD office after RV. Yes, doing big things are flashy but just the minor changes should be noticed, and they were overlooked by RV. Heck, the girls soccer team 2 years ago field wasn't getting watered because of the cost.. The best experience for me was the Southern Miss game, when they gave out free tickets. I told my parents about it and they went online, and got 4 tickets for them and a family friends.. They had come up for the LAT game(and had a good time even though we got the L) , so they knew what to somewhat expect, but they had a great time this time around vs SM. Sitting in the endzone right behind up-rights in the front 2 or 3 rows was a great experience for my parents(it has lead them to sign up for the MGC just recently, actually) but with WB given out the free tickets, my parents went and spent more than the 10/12 bucks for tickets on food, and hot chocolate. I do expect bigger things to be announced about the upcoming season, I'm just hoping they do it sooner rather than later. Maybe they are wanting to hold off and do it during the Spring practice/spring game to try and get more of a reaction?
  22. I do like the idea that was brought up earlier, to build it like the Allen Center. With that being said, I'd like to see the New SP be on the campus, this would make it easier and more convenient for students and fans. But I have no idea where they would build it if they did put it on the campus, without it replacing the current SP. I do understand wanting to have the new SP with the rest of the sports locations, but even out there is there enough room for development and expansion of current sports and in the future hopefully baseball? I think having it between 5 and 6k is good enough for the short-term, but it needs to have space to allow it to be expanded easily if we did change conferences, or we hit it big in sports(hopefully). My worry is, if we do suites, how much do we charge? Will people buy them when we have seasons like we have with TB at the helm? Also, I’d like to see the new SP have its own weight room as well.
  23. SL, NS, WB, Mosley and another one of WB hires are going touring other schools facilities. 5 different schools, in 5 different states in 2 days. Wondering if they are going to any of their former stops like UNC, IU, OU/OSU? Now the question is do they have designs ready to pick from and these places they are going are for them to actually see it, or they are going to get ideas
