Seth Littrell receives extension through 2021
BTG_Fan1 replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
I wouldn't say it was SL fault.. If anything SL knows the importance of it by brining in just a Special Teams coach and him filling in as RB coach. And 1 on 1, yes was stupid but it was likely because of a blitz packages. Not making excuses for them because yes it was stupid, but on the Hail-Mary TD, Sutton had 2 or 3 guys on him.. -

I was talking about that we would be more likely to add baseball over soccer, but soccer could win out because of the new soccer stadium. Not adding both. -
Did Seth Have To Good Of A First Season?
BTG_Fan1 replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
The players named are replacing Srs. that left like Gray, Combs, TT/Buyers, Morris, etc. I'm assuming it didn't either but everyone seems to think that SL either had taken a paycut or took a paycut now to increase the assistant coach pool. To me that doesn't make sense, but that is what people have been saying on here. And I do agree RV, and I think everyone would likely agree that RV probably did something in the contract and no would deny that we limbed into the bowl game going something like 1-5 down the strech But this system does work, we saw it at times, with Morris vs Army, or Fine vs Marshall and MTSU and i'm sure we had other flashes. But SL system works, its just now on GH to execute it. I do agree that a bigger p5 wouldn't be scared off by the salary, but I'm assuming with SL getting a higher salary UNT wanted a higher buyout in return. I would also assume that in the next week or so, Vito will have more information about the deal. But I believe SL was already one of the top C-USA coaches -

We have no idea if SL took over control of the special teams... if we are just guessing then we could say that Perry was dogging it and that is why parted ways... Sutton is was graded as a Day 2 pick at worst(Rds 2 or 3) in the NFL draft this year as a RS Sophomore... The kid is a beat no matter what would have happened. And again its a 1 year extension basically -
Not being in the class it would appear like that to people, but from what we have been told no it is not.. but with people doubting the information, I won't bring it up anymore

MGB breaking news -- regents approve new venue
BTG_Fan1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
4 sports? And again the information we(my class) are getting isn't from the AD office... It's from the individual that runs the other programs that happen at the SP such as kids basketball, cheer camps, etc. -
When I say that I'm meaning down the road, with no idea of date for it to be built or even discussed.. nor do I have any idea how long it takes for it to be approved.. All I know is that in my Facility Management Class, the professors have brought up the new plans for the superpit, with them seeking input for new ideas and developments(from us in class) with them having us going out getting information from students as well.

Yea I don't think anything is within the next 3-4 years... I think WB would rather get the sports up and going and have the new SP on the way or already built before starting another sport. -

BTG_Fan1 replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree, but it was rumored that some bigger school came talking.. which I don't get because it wasn't like we made huge strides but that was rumored. Also, I think WB saw with the # of assisants leaving he know SL could be next. This likely gave SL more $ upfront instead of through bonuses with UNT likely getting a bit more of a buyout. Also, college coaches have very long contracts with them getting extensions often -

I'd take him. Not sure what TB is making but I'm assuming it would be a raise for him. Also, there is some talent here in the Freshman that coaches may like as well. -
I'm hoping that they do this as well, the only question is about spacing, I would believe? I'm not sure if anyone else knows... but I'm assuming the idea would be for the Baseball field to go to the south of the softball field? That would leave the spot to the North open of the softball field and East of where we think the Soccer/Track stadium will be.... If that is where the Soccer/Track stadium they will have to fill in that pond on the map.

That's because of Title 9... Also, I think baseball is a more likely thing with boosters wanting it, and fans as well. But soccer could be in the works with the new stadium eventually. -

The contract was basically a 1 year extension... and judging with what he was done with a team that was 1-11 and got destroyed by Portland State, with only 65 scholarship players... SL had 3 assisants go to P5 schools, and he could really say 4 if since KP was here when SL was right b4 Tech took him from us. We can be disappointed with the recruits but some of them filled and should fill critical roles for us.. Jenkins, Muhammad/Dee, Rico/WIlson/Guyton, Fine, Ham-bone among others. People may not like it, but this is how college football is with coaches getting contracts and lengths of deals that people question. I'm sure with them redoing the entire doing his contract it was part to do with RV somehow messing it up, and to improve the payout to SL in Salary, and buyout for if he leaves. I'm sure that SL has been told and knows that WB and NS are willing to invest in the program, with him going for the IPF tour and the recruiting budget not having anything denied yet(according to WB). Everyone wants to question SL but if he had told you we would be in the HoD bowl playing in OT vs a top 5 defense all of us would have taken it in a heat beat. But did SL deserve it, yes. He has put a lot of energy and gotten people talking about the program. UNT was one of the most improved teams in the nation, and we can be mad about the ranking of the class, but SL has a system that works and has worked. The only difference between his previous stops and UNT is that those were P5 jobs that could land a 3* over UNT easy. We just have to keep up the positive signs and he has so far. We can question the hires, but he hired what seems to be 2 solid recruiters on the defensive-side to replace Ek and Leb, with the OL coach being someone who is a solid coach but some baggage. Let us see what these guys can do first before we judge them, because we judged this team before the season and no one honestly thought HoD was possible. -
MGB: UNT announces new deal for Littrell

Down the road, should be in a 2 or 3, maybe 4 years.

MGB: UNT announces new deal for Littrell
BTG_Fan1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Has it been proven that SL is taken a payout to increase the assistant pool or this just an idea by us? I keep seeing it said, but haven't seen it confirmed -
I think it has to do with them wanting to remove Fouts mostly, and its a way to reward both sports and clear up both land for development on campus and at the Athletic complex. My question is, about will the Track be a separate part or will it be running around the soccer field? I would also think that the IPF is its own thing that hasn' been finalized and with WB talking about wanting to fundraise money for it as well.

Seth Littrell receives extension through 2021
BTG_Fan1 replied to BillySee58's topic in Mean Green Football
We may think that SL is the next Mac, but what was SL original deal? It went through like 2020 or 2021. Reworking the language, upping the salary in return for a larger buyout among other things is good thing, which we all can assume. -

I think we can agree that there is a big difference between SL and Mac. -

For us to have the same guys for a couple of years before they leave, instead of the players learning guy every single year. I agree its great seeing them go to P5 schools like UNC, UF, and UK... and I'm not sure what else we can offer them to stay besides even more money than a UF, UNC, or UK because they offer the money and a bigger football program as well.
