Who knows, maybe because he only started this past season, and teams look to get the next recruiting class QB early.

5 recruits in this class already and last year at this time, we were just trying to finish off the 1st class for this staff. Lol we hadn't even picked up our first recruit of the most recent class either. It only makes sense to give them a pass and hate on UNT. But I do agree with you UNTLifer. We can't judge the class now vs what it is on NSD. I mean the people critical of the class would have been happy with us only Bradley signing Because of his offers but are the same people who are down on Siggers, White, Durlin, among others who rank similar to Bradley but had offers dry up. Give me Siggers, White, Durlin over just Bradley alone. Doubt it, then you will just say oh he sucks because half the class is 3* and the other half is 2*s

Anyone interested in 2 Iowa transfers from DFW HS?

That isn't enough to have people chill out and realize we have 1/4 of our class filled. At this point last year we had not gotta a recruit for the next years class and we were still working on getting kids like Jenks and Wyche here. I do agree at the straight shooter and everything -

We have no proof that this will be a short stay or longer term. People think that will happen, but there is no evidence to prove either. Its been rumored that schools were interested but he didn't get any interviews that have been made public, -
This is true that not getting guys drafted has hurt us. What also hurt us is that the previous staff didn't seem to have connections like the staffs that SL has brought in. EK had multiple kids playing in the NFL, SL has multiple kids playing and recruited/coached the #2 pick this year, among other coaches. It would be wise and woulda been wise for UNT_Gridiron to have tweeted out a congratulations to the Cowboys drafted WR Swisher (Beleive that's his name) from UNC because of the SL connection. UNT has to find a way to get Swisher to talk about what SL has done and that will help UNT recruit kids as well. How many schools are recruiting in schools are looking for kinds in all of ND compared to how many schools come to DFW? I'm going to say UNT has a lot more competition within DFW than NDSU has in its entire state. This staff has been talked about by a number of different media sources as a staff that is improving. This team has to improve after the whole Mac era. The coaches are out and we have multiple times that they feel a change in denton and how UNT is viewed. Keep this change going for 2 or 3 seasons and that will hopefully get rid of the losing history here at UNT. We also, have to be willing to invest in this program. WB and NS have to give SL and other coaches all the possible advantages possible. Increased recruiting budgets, new and improved facilities, and access to fans who want to invest.

How many of those writers do you think have been to Apogee outside of Brett to have any real insight into it?

UNT needs to coach up the kids that we get. Yes it's great to recruit kids, but you have to develop them. UNT isn't getting a kid like AP that can come in and play Day1 and look like an NFL Prospect already. Yes we could recruit kids but you have to develop them. We have seen Wilson recruit well, and he coached UTSA to a bowl game. But we need to see which of them ( SL or Wilson) can truly develop the kids and talent that they have. Give me SL and our staff to develop kids. Also, again and again it has to be said. UNT is behind TCU/SMU, Rangers, Cowboys, Mavs, Stars, etc in DFW. SA has the Spurs and UTSA. UNT hasn't sent a kid to the pros via the draft. Also, Orr retiring was a major blow to the UNT AD office. Not because just because of him being a solid and up and coming star but because he was a notable target that kids and teams were starting to take notice about. Orr was a major rising LB star, who of all people was basically replacing Ray Lewis, yes an UDFA from UNT that was undersized was replacing one of the better/best LBs in NFL history. When Orr retired UNT, it also probably cost UNT a big potential investor in the program. Not to bash the other UNT players in the NFL but Robertson isn't as flashy as Orr nor does he play in a place known for defense. If Robertson could some how get to BAL, SEA, PIT, that would be huge. Dunbar being in LA will be interesting, but again no clear set role behind Gurley. UNT needs and this DL to get a lot of pressure this year, and hopefully Jenks and McClain have big years. If Jenks can get 4-6 picks and 1-2 pick 6s that will be huge and McClain if he can do improve, UNT may not see the benefits this year but those are 2 kids who could be NFL Draft worthy. Combs and Keena hopefully can make some noise, will help as well. But the lack of NFL Success has hurt us, and it hasn't been helped by the losing years either. Go out and go 7-5 or 8-4 this year with a bowl game and continue the wave on positive views that UNT is having. It's been brought up, kids are interested in us, we just have to keep building.

We have already 1/5 of our class "committed" with our QB still inbound which would make it 1/4 filled. Yes it hurts to see talented kids commit early, but again trust the coaches. Yes we have lost a few OL in the past few days and some DL, but again those are areas UNT has not had had success at. The new OL/DL coaches are solid coaches. Lang played D1 at a successful program. Yellock has experience in the 3-3-5 Reff said, and worked with the NO Saints of the NFL last year. These are also spots that we filled heavily last year. If this DL can produce and have some solid games it will fo a lot for us recruiting the DL. The OL just has to be average, nothing great. Last year it we had a few consistent drives of the being average but mostly it was being below average and that UF game I think hurt the mental side for them ALOT. Bringing in a lot of kids with experience in the passing spread will be good for us. If we can get 1 or 2 bright spots there it will be huge. Again don't panic. Yes it sucks seeing other places getting kids to commit, but we didn't have anyone committed yet last year, and we were still wondering about the likes of Dee, Jenks, Jackson, Peters. We signed Siggers, White, Durlin within a week or 2 of NSD, and while we may not be crazy about their offer lists at the time of them committing they still (Siggers, Durlin) had P5 offers at a time with White having the length to be a good WR. -
'18 RB Devonte Lee (John Marshall - OKC)

That's awesome to hear, there is a spot here for him at UNT backfield that hopefully can be addressed -
It is still a long way from NSD. UNT should have an impressive DL that should be able to get pressure and stop the run. Also, hopefully more it will lead to improved defense and those rankings will help us get recruits.

Agreed Wilson is the most physical we have and maybe followed by Tucker. After they graduate it's Siggers, and we need a true power back I believe. -
It's been brought up in the QB thread, but Tech is losing commitments. We aren't fully out on this kid. That staff may not even see the end of the season, if so we will be waiting

Agreed, and I think we both can agree that of the RBs that we will have returning after this upcoming season that Siggers is most likely the most physical back, that comes to the top of my head. Lee I think would be a nice addition because of his size to be that power/bruising RB. -

Well, I think they have some potential pieces like Smith and they can add in another OL or 2, or even the new signee Brammer who played TE/6th OL in HS. You do that and then use our other HBack/FB Mauki( I know it's spelt wrong, sorry) and Lee and you have a potentially solid power formation for short yards and goaline. This past year it was very very tough for us to get plays like 3rd and 2 or 3. Lee could expand his role as well and play out of the gun just like any other back we have but I think this team needs a "Power" back who can just come in and be a guy who can be a between the tackles. We don't know what Smith, Siggers, Johnson roles will be but of the 3 Siggers is the most physical but Lee is a kid who is just built like a fire hydrant. Add Lee to that group and you have guys who can do all the roles needed. -
The good thing is that Tech keeps having kids commit then they decommit. So we could possibly still make a run at him, if we have a solid year up front. Having guys like English, Young, Hambone step up (in terms of pass rush) under Reff and apply pressure regularly will help the new DL coach and help get kids like Hutchings. The DL was solid in the spring game without running the complete scheme. Hopefully they can be that good and better when it counts.

From the clips they showed of SL and the TEs was with him playing hand in the ground. No doubt they will flex guys out, and more than likely they will flex them but they need to have something to help on the OL. In the HOD they would bring in an extra OL come in and play like a TE and they moved the ball when they did. True Chumley is a flex, but we still have the kid that did the flip into the end-zone vs SMU (Smith?). Who was an H-Back/TE last year -
Would be solid addition to the DL rotation. Would like to add him and the DT/NG I believe that is from Aledo. Hutchings seems a lot like Noviel, but a not that much of a quick twitch kid but solid at fighting off blocks.

Honestly, this offense could add him. I'm hoping with SL using a more traditional TE, we could do more goaline sets with 3 TEs or an extra OL to get short yardage and goaline when it's packed in for the red zone. Would be nice to add a small, but very powerful runner to go with Smith, Siggers, Johnson, and the RB we already landed. -

That is one way to make the news -
If we can keep LeBlanc and add the WR and CB from Ryan, it should be veiwed as a success.

The good thing is that Martin went to the Tech camp, and Tech got the Grapevine QB, who i don't believe we were after.
