Guyton replaces Goree, Yes Goree had talent but at his best, that should be the floor for Guyton. If Guyton is a big build WR and should have better hands as well than Goree. Nic Smith replaces Ivery, we have all heard about what Smith could do, but again its unproven till he gets onto the field. The freshman additions could be guys to watch as well. and a full year of Rico more than makes up for Wilson and Robinson. Rico with the flashes that he should in the HoD could be a big time play maker at WR. What is great about him is that he will go up and fight for the ball and get it at the highest point possible, the only question about Rico is can he be healthy. We don't know how often it was a problem in HS but he missed a lot of time his freshman year.

Could be grades (I haven't seen anything reported about it), but I'm guessing the JUCO throw an offer his way early for encase other bigger schools start to pull offers/let offers expire. -
DRC: How the C-USA media poll might look
BTG_Fan1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
No we had Morris in for SM game... and SM went from one of the top QBs in the conference to a 3rd String QB... Sadly, our true freshman was our #2 to start and then became our #1 -
DRC: How the C-USA media poll might look
BTG_Fan1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
LAT should be the top of the list.. 2-4 are teams that are pretty much even with what they could potentially be. We did get lucky vs SM because they were down to the 3rd string true freshman QB. With that being said UTSA did roll vs us and should be put ahead of us. -
When he signed/committed he had more of a guard body but there was a recent photo him and few guys doing some volunteering and he looked just like Parish, so maybe he is moving out to Tackle hopefully.

Speaking of Iowa State, it was brought up in another thread about P5 programs we would like to face.. Anyone have any thoughts of setting up something with Iowa State? -
So a package deal then?

17' WR/CB Montrail Walker, Irving MacArthur (Walk On)
BTG_Fan1 replied to UNTLifer's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
Nice addition at WR if he is a WR Pick ups like Lawerence, Duhon and Walker are solid slot/inside WRs to add to this group. -
How do you change that culture tho. We can see a problem but we need a solution.

I'm down with whatever we do. Its just disappointing that the admin doesn't do stuff like this, nor have they thought of things like this. Simple things like this are overlooked but these fine details are the things that make a difference in terms of knowledge of UNT or whatever else is overlooked. I'm sure we can pool x amount of money to get some decals and have them sent to a certain office for them to be included in degrees for recent grads. -
Here is a link to the UNT Bookstore, for if people wanna look for stuff for the up coming season. they sent out a school wide email about getting geared up for the season. http://unt.bncollege.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CollectionsView?categoryId=40677&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&storeId=71237&topCatId=40510&j=37587377&sfmc_sub=385511761&l=18529254_HTML&u=523469150&mid=10480238&jb=428&cm_mmc=Marketing-_-Football_Kickoff_2017-Custom-_-7_11_2017-_-8085&utm_source=ExactTarget&utm_medium=Email&utm_campaign=Football_Kickoff_2017-Custom

This thread was about ArkState playing Miami at home... The point I'm making is that if we were to bring in a ranked team like ArkState is, we likely would get destroyed. The strike that I have against bringing in a smaller name P5 is that we aren't having success in terms of getting to 6+ wins, so playing home games those are games we have to win. Either 4 or 5 out of the 5 or 6 we get for us to have a chance at getting to a bowl. Yes us playing Lamar isn't a sexy game to open the year, but if gets us a W and we get to 6 Ws and a bowl we will be happy, compared us playing someone like Kansas and losing resulting in us only getting to 5 wins and not getting into a bowl, or us praying that we can get in on APR again. Get a regional school that has some name appeal and bring that in, but have down the road. Like NT93 said a school like Kansas would be appealing. Its not a juggernaut of a program, they are a regional school with them playing in the B12 and recruiting in Tx but bringing in someone like Miami like ArkState is will appeal to some people but will drive others away from coming that week. We both agree that we prefer not to play Top 25 teams, but the difference that we have is about playing a team like Kansas or Lamar. Right now, its better for UNT to play Lamar. Yes, playing someone like Kansas could be a W, but UNT right now doesn't need 50/50 games, they need games that are leaning in our favor. Play schools like Lamar get the W, and then after us doing that for say 3/4/5 years and getting to a winning record/bowl games will lead to more fans, more fans and more bowls leads to more revenue and better recruits. More revenue and better recruits then means we can play schools like Kansas, then once that happens you are ready to start playing with the bigger boys. Again, we can think Kansas or whoever would be a nice match up but have it down the road (which would likely be the cause) but have it 4 or 5 years. Right now we need easy wins to get people to change how they think of UNT.

Its good to hear that the coaches are having success with the parents... Wherever Gibbs ends up, we all wish him the best. I'd just hope he could give insight into what UNT needs to maintain/did well for him to end up at UNT or what they lacked/needed to improve for in the future! -
We can debate about how UNT stacks up against any Top 25 team, but teams in the top 25 have a lot more talent that we do. That was very apparent when we played UF last year, heck even when we played WKU (who wasn't in the Top 25) they destroyed us. Let us beat schools like Rice, UTSA, UTEP regularly then we can talk about playing P5s at home. I don't know Colorado was in the top 10 last year, and I think the Pac12 championship vs Washington.

This OL and QB are not ready for us to play someone like Miami (Top 25) program like ArkStat is going to be playing.

DRC: Breaking -- Tyler Wilson has officially left UNT's program
BTG_Fan1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I understand that and would assume that SL would be smart enough on when to do it as well... I'm just saying Fine had many games that he would play terrible for 10 out of 12 drives.. Plus the man said it himself. -
It will be interesting this OL in a year or 2. Parish I hope can be special. The staff was very high on Mose from what @BeyondTheGreen said. Hoping Newman can be something special as well. Would be nice to have a center of the OL that can just pave 2 or 3 yards.. Newman, Red, and Mose pushing the center of the line would be nice to see. But we need to bring in more tackles unless the staff is moving some of these kids out from guard.

DRC: Breaking -- Tyler Wilson has officially left UNT's program
BTG_Fan1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
They need to rotate them but for some reason SL talked before the year about needing 2 QBs... But he never used them. There were times that Fine was his own worst enemy. Its not ideal, I get it but SL talked about the benefits of giving guys a break mentally or just to try and get someone out of a funk. To me, RS Pearson and don't let him step on the field at all. Evaluate and solve what you have in Quinn, Izzy, Cason, O'hara so that in the spring you know who to focus on. I get that isn't ideal but we need to find out who is a JAG (Just A Guy) and who is someone that possibly has something, and if we can actually find someone. Izzy hopefully can do something this year. I like his size in terms build and height (major assets compared to fine), his film shows he has a strong arm and can zip it as well. The question is was, it legit the interest that he was getting before the knee injury or was it just a solid showing for a few games. I get that Quinn has had a solid showing and has been here for a long time, but if we get up big vs Lamar, I would like to see Izzy. His tape was awesome and he just seems to have the traits. -
DRC: Report shows UNT ranked 3rd in C-USA in revenue
BTG_Fan1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Locker-room should be the last upgrade, and with the upgrades that we have made in the past 2 years (it doesn't seem to look much different at all). The need for a bigger weight room, more office space for coaches and positional groups are needed, and the IPF. along with the nutritional center as well... Those should be the first thing and things that we do just not to get even with other programs, but things we do even better to be the best in the G5s and hopefully rival some P5s This is what Texas Tech did. Its nice to have this but the locker-room doesn't do anything to improve on the field play, its just the cherry on top. -
DRC: Breaking -- Tyler Wilson has officially left UNT's program
BTG_Fan1 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
That would be in a year or 2... The question is at this time next year, does Pearson have the job or is he challenging for it? Also, we will have Bean and Martin coming to campus in a year as well... -
DCTF Top 50 Impact Players - #6 Mason Fine
BTG_Fan1 replied to AustinFromUNT's topic in Mean Green Football
Average OL and Average QB play will lead to better results... The Average QB play means Fine actually hitting the WRs with catchable passes, and this year WR corps should less likely to make drops. -
Just saying but the students show up, but the Alumni seems to be lacking... Most alumni don't come to games already, and likely seeing UNT get destroyed won't be appealing to them either
-
And again to AZST we are, UNT, TXST, ULM are all bottom of the barrel programs
-
Say what you think, but to AZST schools like UNT, TXST, ULM are just like FCS/D2 programs..
