  1. Hopefully this is just the beginning.. Izzy is the top rated QB in the room for the people that love ratings. He has the traits needed (Size, Arm Strength, Mobility) but now its just if he can get down the offense and be able to get his man the ball.. He performed well in his limited action last year (believe it was 3 games) and was getting interest from Baylor... It was brought up in another thread, but he has to trust his knee, which will come with time. Honestly the up-side is higher with Izzy than Fine and Quinn.. Pearson could challenge him but that would be down the line.
  2. Just the rust of getting injured and not wanting to risk it. He will regain confidence, just gotta give it time. T. Choice had insight on the kid because Choice is from GA. Believe the Tulane and Ohio offers had expired, and he was committed to Grambling at the time we offered then he flipped. Siggers, White, Darden were added within the last 7 to 10 days (I believe) of NSD.. Reasons to believe and trust in this staff when it comes to getting kids. Agreed, we should not just assume it is a 2 man race between Quinn and Fine like it has been thought of. As bad as it sounds, Izzy has likely the most talent in that QB room even with a bad/healing knee right now. I really hope they can give him some playing time this year, because he was getting p5 looks before his injury. If can adjust to this offense, he could be a world of improvement to this offense. Kid has a world of talent and is great to see that he was added as a PWO, a true-boom or bust... Also, it should be a positive that Izzy was in that early.. that hopefully means he has been impressing people in camp so far.. But it could be that they did it early to see how his body would respond incase he had some type of flare up (swelling, etc. with the knee?) for him to get treatment?
  3. Izzy is the highest rated QB in the QB room by 24/7 (believe he was an .8000 or above, was in the top 10/12 JUCO QBs). He is the wildcard at QB. He has all the tools, but can he make the smart choices and be accurate..
  4. Great to hear about the progress that some of these RS Fr made, in Nic Smith with him playing a larger role in keeping Wilson healthy, Griffen going to be another tool at WR, and Muhammad at S looking like he will step in and replace gray... Muhammad will be an interesting guy to watch, hopefully he can play well this year and then be the guy after McClain leaves to led the safety's. Also, is anyone else starting to worry about Rico's ability to stay healthy? Seems to get nicked up and banged up often.
  5. Came out to be ranked as a 2* at .7698, the same as Hunt the new LB as well and ahead of Nixon, Brown and Redfearn
  6. and he is back to a 3* at .8015
  7. I was in a meeting with some people from Army earlier this week, and they think they will have over 1K in people at the game..
  8. I thought Ejiya was a Senior this up coming year? Also, didn't some JUCO LB who had committed to Arkansas State say he was going to come visit UNT recently?
  9. What is up with Illinois coming in here all of a sudden? Multiple guys we have had interest in have gotten offers from them... Im guessing they are focusing on DFW a lot more now?
  10. I do agree that its younger coaches game, I think Holtz would be a good fit because of the talent he has had on the defensive side of the ball. Get him a for couple of years and then bring in a young guy to be the coach in waiting and go from there.
  11. Good to hear, and hope that they can do it even sooner... would be nice to do a pre-season announcement party for it. With it finishing next fall (ideally), any idea on when they would start on it? I'm guessing they would wait until after the season is done?
  12. Wish that they would do things like this more often and throughout the season... Having more information/insight on the process out there is a good thing, it allows for people to see progress from point A to B, instead of A to Z from the announcing the start of the IPF planning to it being announced. Hell WB and them should allow them (GMG Podcast crew) to do the show/podcast from Apogee and do something like 10 bucks per plate meal... Have dinner at 7-8 on a Thursday with WB/SL/GMac/other to answer a few questions from the fan and generate some extra $ for the programs and to allow the fans to get more face time with whoever... then do the podcast from 8-9 live with people there... I think that the majority of the people on here would have liked to seen some of these done/announced at individual times instead of all at once... You know something like hey UNT fans, the IPF plan has been completed but now we are working on the upgrades to the AD Complex, come see the designs/ideas that are being kicked around.. Something to show to people that things are moving along, instead of all of a sudden we go from nothing to something, it is overwhelming and doing it in steps is a way to keep UNT on peoples minds and relevant in terms of progress. Using things like the Mean Green Mania as a way to showcase the new uniforms, and shirts... Sale new shirts now for people to wear to the Lamar game.
  13. I would love for them to RS Cade, and make it a yearly thing to do with our freshman QBs.. One thing that Pearson has that Fine lacked last year was accuracy, but again Fine wasn't helped by dropped passes and an OL that allowed pressure way to often. Figure out what they have at QB, Play Fine/Quinn/Izzy/Carson/Ohara and find out if they are just practice arms or gameday worthy. We have 2 good QBs (who are both rated ahead according to 24/7- Pearson .7826, Bean- .7958, Martin- .7858) coming in next year. Izzy is the highest rated QB, believe he was a .80+ player according to 24/7 but is a PWO. By the time Martin/Bean RS and can play Fine will be a SR, Quinn and Izzy will be gone, and Pearson will be a RS Soph...
  14. I would think the same, but no idea why SL would get a P5 job over someone like Holtz at LAT... If Tech were smart, pass on SL and go for the man who has produced top 5/10/15 offenses in the same offense at LAT (with lesser talent)
  15. Free parking after 5pm and weekends on campus.. But you may call and double check, but my group did it multiple games and no tickets or anything.
  16. agreed, because wasn't it with Lester (?) the Dec grad Safety from LA Valley that would have been part of this last class, that said that UNT just dropped communicating with him completely? Also, hopefully this will led to a few other kids that are high on UNT to commit sooner than later.
  17. That is sad to hear, but good to hear at the same time... Sad that he couldn't commit here (like it is believed) because the spot had been taken, but good that he would have picked us and that Koonz reached out to him and just didn't flat out ignore him either.
  18. Who knows... If it were to happen, we have seen this staff go after kids that come out of no-where there senior year.
  19. Is it just me but I would love for UNT to sale this photo framed... UNT missing out on another way to get some $ Also, it had been brought up people talking about single game tickets here... Here is the link/tweet about it as well.
  20. It is a huge advantage for us having Lamar before SMU... Last year this team came out to hyped up and to wild at times vs SMU and made a fair share of boneheaded plays... Also, i believe Morris had 3 INTs that game with 2 of them bouncing off WRs into the defenses hands.... Doubtfully that happens with Rico/Smiley/Guyton who seem to be alot better at catching passes. If we can go 2-0 into Iowa that is a huge thing.. and if we are 3-1 after UAB that will be a huge lift to this team. USM will be a tough game, because they draw a nice crowd but again they should have the same QB from last year and he seemed to need alot more development than Fine. UTSA/ODU/FAU will be challenges but FAU is in year 1 of there the coaching staff, UTSA and ODU both went to bowl games last year and those are challenges.. If we go 2-2 from USM/UTSA/ODU/FAU that is fine with me... LAT will be a challenge with it being there HC and they are leaders of the west. UTEP/Army/Rice, we need to wins... UTEP and Army are at home and we are at Rice... IF we can get to 6-7-8 wins this year, I think it will be HUGE for the program. I still don't think it will lead to SL running off to a P5, but I do think if we have a successful year you could see Reff get picked off. If fine can give us 2500 passing yards (which should be simple in this offense) and Wilson can give us 1100 yards that will be huge.. Just having an offense go from the 110+ ranking last year into the 80-90s isn't sexy in terms of production but it will do a world of good for this defense and special teams.
  21. With Lawerence breaking out (so far), could he be passing Hair-Griffen for that slot role? Also, wondering if this going to force Darden to play amazing to prevent from being RSed. Also, good to hear about Sanders and Davis... Those 2 I think will be critical to our defense in replacing McClain and Dee
  22. Agreed, over-reaction and kids waiting to long for a bigger offer bites them in the butt sometimes... Wondering if they end up moving the Aubrey kid to DT if the other OL kids start to click from this 2017 class.
  23. They should be, SL did it last year.
  24. Agreed but with use losing so many upper class guys, it maybe add 1-2-3 HS kids and then add JUCOs to aid in letting kids adjust
  25. Guessing the offer had expired after we had picked up the 2 LBs (Nixon and Hunt)??
