BREAKING: Lamar game may "possibly" be cancelled per Lamar HC
BTG_Fan1 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
No it was scheduled to be played in SA.. http://www.ticketmaster.com/UTSA-Roadrunners-Football-tickets/artist/1618459#! -
SL track record of offensive explosions in year 2 was with him at OC.. Not HC, and im going to doubt he takes playcalling away from GH.. The offense yes needs to progress but thats on GH. Again, I'm saying we need to be real with the results.. Last year SL and the staff got way more out of this team than they should have... It can go the other way as well, just look at mac (not saying SL is mac)... If SL and the staff ends up playing Pearson, Darden, White, Mose, Parish, Brammer, Newman, Johnson, Davis, Fulp because the starters at the start of the year can't cut it, then we need to come to real idea that we take our lumps this year and that may not result in a bowl... Yes that is disappointing, but I would rather not lose a year playing older guys and we got 5-7 when we can play younger guys and get them game experience and go 4-8... Yes QB looks better but again, only 1 of these guys have thrown multiple passes in a D1 game.. OL yes we are replacing 2 keys in Rice/Keenan but it wasn't like they were all conference guys (and they still struggled)... Safety we are replacing Gray with a Khari (who played in limited spots) and we still have 2 younger guys backing up McClain and Khari in a true freshman in Sanders and RS SO behind McClain. We can say that SL cashed in his credit, but that wasn't done just because of a successful year.. It was done to redo the contract that RV left for WB.. Again, we can assume what may happen but we have no idea or what the conditions will be at the end of the season. If SL plays a bunch of young guys and we go 5-7 again, yes it sucks but if it means 2/3/4 guys from Darden/White/Pearson/Davis/ Fulp, etc are all show true talent like we saw in Hambone then we shouldn't view it as a complete lose of a season.

BREAKING: Lamar game may "possibly" be cancelled per Lamar HC

I don't think a Texas Rangers/Osteen thing would happen.. The game is meant to be played up here in DFW and not in the path of the storm... Wondering if Lamar is thinking/hoping they can try and squeeze UNT for us to pay for them to come up early to play the game instead of it being delayed. -

Aren't they playing in SA??? If they are playing in SA, no idea why it would be postponed.. I'd like to think the UNT/Lamar is more likely since a larger sum ( I would assume) is being exchanged -

Agreed... We don't need a 50+ win vs them.. Yes it would be great for our confidence, etc but its not going to really matter outside of the averages at the end of year... These guys likely have been through the past few days and will it be like that for short-term as well since I'm guessing most are likely from around that area (no idea, so i could be wrong).. No need to destroy there season right off the bat and compound it with what they are likely dealing with in their personal lifes as well from the storm. -

I would like to agree its the coaches fault since its the first game and they have known about Harvey for a week or 2 now.. But again, I'm assuming the HC knows it will be played but this is his way of having a built up excess already for it they get steamrolled... -

Agreed, but at least now he can say in interviews that he tried to prevent it and that UNT/Lamar admin forced his hand, instead of just alone blaming it on weather/practice/talent difference -
Just saws that Lawerence earned his spot and so has Darden/Duhon didn't make it easy either. Gotta remember HG has only been a WR for a year now, have to just hope it's a matter of time or packages are designed for him. Hoping Fulp is RS and that is why he isn't listed. Agreed on Peters, he would have been a nice piece to have at Jack..
-
We gotta be reasonable here.. if we see major problems in terms of injuries or lack of development at QB/OL/S then it could be a long season.. and with that being said I hope it doesn't come to that but if it does then don't waste a season, turn it into a evaluation period.. not like SL is on the hot seat and nor should he be I agree it should be warm if they are playing the normal guys and they aren't performing.. if they can't get to 6 Ws because of injuries/youth then that should be given a minor break.. SL should have some credit earned up to prevent from being on the hot seat (completely) after taking 1-11 to a bowl last year..

Said it last week.. Hall was that impressive and I'm sure they will run Jenks in.. Jenkins did the same thing last year as well I would think like another poster said, Young will kick back out once English is back. ALso, it's likely being done because do you make do with Young at NG or burn a RS year for freshman DL.. the staff is likely taking the extra year over playing a kid like Tony K for 3-4 games

If WB says that the Lamar admin is saying it should go on, then it (likely) will.. Im assuming if Lamar backs out of the game then they don't get a check or they would have to refund it.. my guess is, the Lamar HC is trying to get his admin to move the game back since the lack of practice time and everything.. he doesn't likely want to get destroyed and have that put onto him. -
Thats what I figured and debating about... Do i spend that extra $ on a 35 ticket and some of it go to UNT, or pay less and all of it go to SMU..
-
What kind of seats are these? Never been to an SMU game, so im just surprised when they are 35 compared to UNTs 10/15/20 buck seats
-
Gotta agree, wanted to see more information on how things would be progressed/ideas... Just like the report that was done on the AD Office/Operations last year we were able to read on how things should be changed.. Presenting a case like that is great, and I understand the AD can say we will be competitive when it comes keeping coaches, but how are we going to be competitive in keeping the club level full? What is the long-term plan for the Endzone-Tents, etc...

I would love to see a good beat down dished out, but these kids at Lamar have been likely going through hell this week and likely will for longer if the storm does what it is projected to do.. With that said, don't completely destroy all hope these kids have UNT -
Agreed, it's a lot better getting the reasons why something is delayed/not happening than us being left in the dark.. also, it being done in a timely manner by game 2 is important.. gives everyone another reason to come back for UAB, and then at worst Englishs return vs UTSA

I want to see progress in terms of going from the 110+ range in offense to the 80s.. Defense, I want to see them come out and dominate more than just in flashes and have them be able to be a top 3/4/5 defense in Cusa.. Our defense wore down last year but it was fantastic at Florida and I think it was may have been more impressive then the @ army game.. for SL, I wanna see 6/6+ wins which would mean another bowl.. just getting to back to back bowls would be huge for a lot of us fans. Id like to see a bowl W, but people will not like this, but just getting to a bowl and having another solid game is good enough for me in terms of the issues that SL had inherited. yes he is in year 2 and those shouldn't be used anymore but he him going from 60 something scholarships to 80 this season is huge along with losing half the staff. Year 3 I would like to see the bowl W be the requirement for SL and that's something all of us likely would have been happy with when he came here considering the state we were in. ---------------------------------------------------------- The question is if we are successful... and does SL sticks around or get offers other places (if he does what happens with UNT contract? another renewel?) If we are successful which coaches do we lose? Are we able to keep Reff, Brown, Mainford, Koontz, Langston (if the OL progresses)...

I saw the bullet/boxes to be checked (online) and that for what needs to be done.. but is there an actually paper that was written up about how these things would be addressed? Or did I miss it online? Would like to read the thoughtout process of how things will be moved along, just like the Athletic Department Review that was done last year.
