The question should be.. Why did they not recruit a Punter sooner? You knew Keena was going to be gone following last year.. SL first class shoulda included a Punter when the class was likely to be smaller, and now it's difficult to do a scholarship P when u need other spots to be filled. What years did Liberty out rank Baylor? What about UTSA and Baylor?

Steam can be blown off, but have a legitimate reason for what you say.. Like the offense hasn't progressed under GH and we have the same crap game plan since WK1 last year.. not just GH can't coach, let's fire him.. Saying recruiting sucks, but yet being glad we land a recruiting to only 2-3 weeks later saying the recruit sucks, makes no sense.. If we go out and beat Iowa, idc if it's by 1 or by 20.. everyone will forget the whole SMU game and be glad our problems are over with.. if you had asked people before the season they would have said 1 thing, and if you had asked after Lamar you likely wouldn't have gotten the same response.. People overreact and will come to their medium in a few days.. Yes, we got our ass kicked, now move on and let's go.. Those guys in the coaching room know it and the players know it too..

The purpose of me saying for someone to go work the phones, is because its the same people that says recruiting sucks.. These are the same people bitching about Bean, our 2018 QB Commit, that had offers from LAT, SMU, CSU, and others... Yes the LAT offer was off the table but he was still offered, so it counts because he was offered at 1 time... So apparently we are able to recruit some, but we don't suck... If recruiting sucks and its so easy that fans can point it out, go do something about it, us sitting around and bitching on GMG.com isn't going to fix something. People bitched about RV for years and it didn't do anything on here or with a damn banner, why GMG.com carry any more weight now?? You don't like the way something is being fixed, do you go bitch about it online hoping it gets fixed or do you do it yourself? If you're that good at good at recruiting, I bet WB will hire whoever it is.. If he is paying SL $1M to coach, image what he would pay someone who can recruit and just work the phones 1 or 2 times a week..

Its not an excuse, its using damn common sense for the reasons brought up... Think of why UNT has been terrible and will keep being terrible.. .2% of alumni give a crap.. AD Offices need $ donations to be successful, and we don't have very many... Bitching about TB, but yet he is was renewed by RV (and TB is gone now), and WB buyout someone the national media seems to like ALOT... Crying about Hank having a job, but yet you and I'd say everyone on this board have no idea what he was doing before compared to what he is doing now... WB laid off a # of people as well but yet no one jumped for joy, it was just people posting asking who and what spots... Vito had a story about the changes in terms of people leaving and new people coming in, and @KRAM1 confirmed it as well... If pointing out valid reasons are "excuses" then, sorry... But we need to realize and understand the problems and find ways to fix it.. Just wanting someone gone, or saying Recruiting sucks without understand the big reasons is how we got into this crap hole, because we are just trying to wing it without looking at the big picture. ---------------------------------------------------------- I've presented this issue to others that have said recruiting sucks... then go up to the Football offices on Tuesday nights (Football offices, are in the Athletic Center and up the stairs and you will see Football Offices, can't miss it) and work the phones with the staff, email/mail them a script... hell post it on here and ill print it off for you and whoever else and hand deliver it with photos for whomever to show it was hand delivered. Again, I bet they can find you a sideline pass and I'm sure if you're good enough, you will stick around since our coaches apparently suck at recruiting according to some people..

I agreed with the first half... and I do agree his stats are against FCS and back ups, just like most of his noteworthy production last year.. But the kid still lead effective drives to open the game, not his fault he has a bad/inexperienced OC... SL should have brought in GH to be the QB coach, but needed a guy that had been on OC someplace before, sadly I'm starting to wonder about GH and play calling.. I do agree about the play calling, how it seems to change when the 2/3rd team comes in.. No idea if GH changes the play call or if this OL just struggles that much... I pointed it out last year that Fine only performed vs the backups and its very worrisome, and this is why I would like to see the likes of Pearson or Izzy to get a look, which tonite would have been the perfect time too... We can say the WRs were or weren't great either tonite, but we saw production/potential production.. Darden had a huge game and should be the offensive MVP, Guyton played well vs his first D1 defense.. Lawerence had a solid game as well after playing sparingly last year and after a big game vs Lamar... Darden HOPEFULLY locked down the PR spot and we will not have to deal with Jenkins or Smiley out there.. I don't know why but I feel way more comfortable as a fan with Darden taking a PR than either of them, but I would think a lot of fans that are aware of the situation would agree.

We do have a lot of good fit kids, but they are young and are performing (Nic Smith, Darden, Rico, Hambone, Lawerence, etc)... the problem areas like OL, none of them are playing and the current guys are not playing well.. Yes, a current "system guy" like Mayfield are playing but its having someone with some college experience vs a true freshman... Also, I've said it before.. But if recruiting is so easy (as you seem to believe) then why don't you and whoever else write up a script and email it/maill to the staff? Better yet go up and meet with them on Tuesday nights and help them out when they are on the phones talking with recruits? I even bet they will give you a sideline pass and hire you if you're as good as you have claimed to be.

Their outfits looked like something from Better Call Saul... and the girl leading the band from a random ladder they found on campus looked like the girl who took my movie ticket on Tuesday night..

How is this Masons fault? Did you not see the countless number of times they had a man coming off the edge that the RB had to pick up, which was hit or miss? Did you see how terrible this OL was? They couldn't get even get 1 yard? How many times did we run the same play or nearly identical play on 3rd and 5+ with the a WR to the flat and a WR going deeper but the route wasn't developed in time.. Yes Fine had issues tonite, but he far from the biggest problem.. Yes he had 2 INTs but that was him trying to come back, he proved he can throw the deep ball and that alone gives me hope for Fine, because last year he could not make that throw at all.. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The biggest problem was the Special teams.. 2 muffed punts, and THE DUMBEST KR call that you will ever see... The first muffed punt was waved offed for Fair Catch interference, which I have to say good job on that PR for seeing the guy in front of him and walking into him to get the 15 yards knowing you get the ball back as well.. The 2nd muffed punt was stupid and did 0 to help the defense which had come out of half time and stopped SMU (I believe in a 3 and out)... The reserve KR was stupid to do so deep in our territory,.. The defense got burned by Sutton, but he is a Rd 1 WR in the NFL draft, and we have seen it first hand.. 1 of his 4 TDs was on a perfect throw to end the 1st half, another TD he broke out of a tackle and 3rd was a blown coverage, the 4th was just a 50/50 ball he got going up vs Hall, who has atleast inches on plus probably 20+ lbs... Yes the other WR had a solid game, but again he didn't do much.. Hall was getting under Sutton's skin which led to a Personal foul, but Brooks did NOT do anything vs Sutton.. I'm sorry but Brooks has not looked like a 1st Team Preseason player at all.. Tackling again is a HUGE problem for this team... The WRs were biggest surprise tonite.. Guyton and Darden had GREAT games.. Fine looked solid but still had 2 INTs and missed a big throw to Guyton down the sideline on 4th down.. Lawerence had a solid game.. UNT also, allowed SMU to change out defensive players whenever they wanted even when UNT was not making any subs, which wasn't often since it seemed as if we were changing formations after nearly every single play... GH or Mason needs to point it out that the other team is changing out personal and go up call a quick play for a free 5 yards... Wilson had an off night, yes it sucks but the man has been reliable for us.. the OL was bad, but mason didn't help with pointing out some of the potential blitzers either. Yes the L hurts but us finding potential big time players in Lawerence (big game vs a D1 defense), Darden locked down the PR spot and had multiple TDs, and Guyton showing he can be a guy to stretch defenses is big too. Also, Fine has now matched/topped last years TD mark for him as well...

Again, Firing/Not Firing TB would have resulted in the same outcome.. WB either had 0 trust in TB's ass. coaches and was willing to give EVERY coach a full season to prove their worth.. Again WB did bring back TB, that was on RV... By the time WB got here "officailly" it was the first day of class, and no way you are going to be able to bring in another coach.. Firing TB mid-year WB pointed out in his data collected changed the results very little (if at all).... So again we likely don't make the conference tourney... The cleaning of the AD office is stupid and down right dumb... WB fired/moved on from MULTIPLE personal in the office.. WB has come in and reshuffled people, created and ended multiple positions inside the office.. He has moved around people as well.. Again none of us have any information about why Hank is still here, but us hoping someone is fired because we didn't like the role they played under a man we disliked is stupid, and childish. If you wanna see the man gone, you and whoever else open up your wallets/checkbooks and offer him more $ to leave UNT.. SL is not a bad recruiter, look at his recruiting profile, his ass. coaches are also not horrid either.. If they were horrid SL wouldn't have lost 4 coaches to p5 schools, and Perry got a new gig within weeks, the guys here are either new or have gotten critical guys, but yes the recruiting can be better but look at all the crap UNT has to go up against... Hell he helped bring in the #3 overall pick in the NFL draft, and developed the UNC WR that the Cowboys drafted... SL has to repair UNT coaches under MAC not giving a damn about connections with HS coaches... SL has to go up against YEARS of losing.. SL has an alumni base that only .2% (yes point 2) gives something... SL is competing with a facilities shittier than local HS's, in terms of 1 weight room for ALL SPORTS not football having its own like other D1 programs on top of local HS having IPFs.. Yes an IPF isn't going to help but we are lagging behind.. the only thing we lead in is Music, Art, and kids having better equipment when they are 17 and not 21...

Bean had the best offer list of ANY QB unt has gotten in YEARS! Also, if you're worried about getting a QB that fits the "Air-Raid", you may wanna do your own research because Martin is that QB...

Dear lord WB either didn't trust the assistant coaches under TB nor could he have brought in his guy at the time.. firing a HC, WB pointed out doesn't help either.. No idea about the softball coach as I have no real experience with that sport.. The Hank thing is likely he because he is 1- Producing in his new spot and has connections with the right people that are larger donors that keep giving because of Hank.. 2- He has some type of contract that isn't easy to get out but again none of us have any idea how their contracts are set up.. Coming in and just firing everyone is nice for some people on here because they hated RV and everything he touched, but coming in and cleaning house isn't how most businesses run. Also, are you trying to say WB is to scared to fire SL??? Anyone considering the removal of SL has no idea what they are talking about

I'd like that, but not likely GH would stay around for that. Again I'm not saying he needs to stay but we would have to be looking i the offseason for one

Agreed Fine shouldn't be blamed, he played well but GH called a terrible game at times Likely bc Perry had been here for years and hadn't made any progress.. in G5 you don't wanna remain in the same spot to long

The special teams did no help for the defense with muffed punts in back to back weeks and putting the offense in shitty position as well.. wasnt entirely in the offense, but the 2nd quarter and early 3rd was terrible. I will give Mason credit and we all should, at least his deep ball is A LOT better now..
