Is Gary Patterson a possibility?
DentonLurker replied to cousin oliver's topic in Mean Green Football
After Gary's year getting his feet back under himself at Texas, he's going to be a P5 candidate for lots of jobs, in my opinion. I still think TCU is going to figure out they made a mistake firing him. -
I don’t think anyone has questioned if it’s possible. The debate arises when discussing whether or not it’s wise.
-
I would love to see the list of coaches available right now who could make Nebraska relevant again…
-
And Nebraska will be no better off having fired him now vs. waiting until November…

***OFFICIAL GMG TSU Vs. UNT IN-Game Discussion***
DentonLurker replied to Coach Andy Mac's topic in Mean Green Football
Truth is this game was never really going to tell you much about the rest of the year. I feel like all you can really say is they won and they won big, just like they were supposed to. Lots of football left to play. -
Chris Del Conte has been very active on Twitter responding to issues Texas fans have brought up since their game too. It seems like a pretty simple way to respond to fan feedback. I think a lot of athletics departments are quick to engage with fans on social media in good/fun times but a lot of them disappear when things aren’t great.

DRC: UNT depth chart for Texas Southern
DentonLurker replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Honestly, I don’t really get why anyone even cares about the depth chart. -
Mid-year firings are dumb

12 Team CFP Expansion Confirmed

Time for people to open their pocketbooks. I feel like this sets the stage for 6 Super Conferences, honestly. -
12 Team CFP Expansion Confirmed
DentonLurker replied to UNT Texas Hooligan's topic in Mean Green Football
We've had too many bowl games for a while now in college football. Would I rather win the conference and have a shot at the playoffs than playing in the afterthought.com bowl game? Heck yeah! -
I agree with this except I want every conference team we play to lose at least one more conference game than we do.

I’m going to say 28-24 Mean Green. Ponies take the lead on a field goal late in the 4th, but the offense responds with a touchdown to seal the deal.
-
I think we are just going to disagree. To me, convenience outweighs the false sense of demand you’re referring to in the minds of students in the year 2022.
-
I should clarify I’m not saying to not promote the game. I agree with you they should promote the game on campus like it’s the most important game ever. I just don’t think making students wait in line to get physical tickets is the answer. We need to convince them there’s not a single place they’d rather be than Apogee on Saturdays in the fall.
-
Honestly, in 2022, you’d have to live under a rock to not know there’s a game this weekend. I don’t think the issue with students at UNT has typically been that they don’t know there’s a game. It’s convincing them that it’s the best place to spend their time.

Recruits at this weekend's game
DentonLurker replied to ScreamingEaglesFan's topic in Mean Green Football
Recruits are usually allowed on the field pre-game They are typically in the same area No, they won't release a list NCAA rules do not allow visiting teams to host recruits. If they're friends with a visiting player, that player could put them down for one of their tickets though. Winning in front of prospects is always your best bet -
Can Aune take the next step?
DentonLurker replied to NorthTexasSportsNetwork's topic in Mean Green Football
The biggest thing I saw with Aune was that it looked like he got to a point where he "settled in" and the game looked like it slowed down for him. He won't have the luxury of taking a quarter to settle in this week. I'm hoping he picks up where he left off. Did he make some bad passes against UTEP? Sure. Will he make some this week? Sure. I see him as a game manager. As long as he can make enough passes to keep defenses honest like he did against UTEP, I think this year shakes out better than most think, but only time will tell. -
What am I missing?
-
To me, the quality of the win over UTEP is kind of TBD. Does that UTEP team end up in the top half of the league? Do they make a bowl? Do they win any games against the top half of the league? After Week 0, it’s hard to know what kind of team anyone has.

Yeah right. That ticket trailer was embarrassing. Digital tickets is the only way to go these days for students. It’s the easiest and fastest they’ve ever had it to get a ticket.
-
Nope. No interceptions last night.

In all reality, I’m not really worried about student attendance for the first home game. They typically show up for the first game, particularly against teams like SMU. I’m more worried about whether or not the alumni side and end zone will fill in for this one.
