  1. I'm always so shocked to see so many comments about calling the ticket office. What are you guys even calling them about? You can pretty much do everything online these days.
  2. I mean Seth Littrell Stadium at the Darrell Dickey Practice Fields would have a nice ring to it.
  3. The answer to this is "it depends." I would imagine school size/potential doesn't matter as much as what's happening in the athletic department today to the better conferences. Are you bringing in a lot of annual donors/dollars? Are you selling lots of season tickets and selling out your games? If the answer to both of those questions is "yes," and I'm one of the better conferences, I'm interested. If you have potential to some day say "yes" to these questions, the traditional G5 conferences are where you belong today.
  4. I don’t really understand the point you’re trying to make?
  5. Agreed! The resources and support given to athletics by university leadership post-RV is night and day. I’ll also add that many of the names funding the big projects post-RV are donors identified and cultivated during RV’s tenure.
  6. I had the same question, but from a different angle. I'm assuming our $2M number, which is still sadly low, is just to the MGSF. I'm also going to assume SMU's $73M came to athletics, assuming the original tweet is from an athletics employee. My question is how much of that is annual fund vs. major gifts to facilities and what-not. I'm pretty sure our $2M doesn't include major gifts.
  7. I honestly think time will be kind to RV's legacy at UNT. Unfortunately, the last few years of Dodge, how McCarney ended, and dare I say Benford just are tough to swallow. Moving down the road a few years, and looking at what happened under his watch, I honestly think he made athletics at UNT better, even though he didn't have the administrative support that athletics has currently.
  8. This article is ridiculous. So his premise is that UT single-handedly caused all of this? Sure, man...
  9. The truth is, I don't think anyone is moving up at this time. There's going to be: Tier 1- Big 10 and SEC Tier 2- Some combo of the Big 12/Pac 12 and ACC Tier 3- Everyone else I don't really see anyone moving up to Tier 1 or Tier 2 at this time. Any upward mobility will have to be the long game.
  10. Road attendance isn't going to make or break any conference movement conversations. Lack of MGSF donors, season ticket holders, and general lack of home attendance certainly will though.
  11. Do you feel like we have greater than zero access right now?
  12. I agree with this. If anything, I think the price tag just goes up.
  13. I guess so. His win percentage as a college head coach was .546.
  14. I mean, it is the USFL...
  15. The year Tech played for the championship in MBB, they lost. Honestly, Tech has been riding coattails of the big Texas schools for a long time. Aside from a WBB national championship almost 30 years ago, they’ve not been a real national power in anything.
  16. I really wish these conferences would stop saying these moves are about academics. Everyone knows these moves are about TV $’s and nothing else.
  17. I think we are on the verge of a fracture within FBS. The divide that has always been around, but was made slightly more evident during the BCS and CFP eras, is about to formally happen, in my humble opinion.
  18. I don't really know why anyone cares what the reason is for his return to UNT is. I, for one, couldn't care less. I'm just glad he's back. He makes the team better. Flat out, that's all I care about. Based on what I saw last year from PB's defense last year, I am just excited to see what this team looks like in Year 2.
  19. I think the day and age of contract extensions being used to help with recruiting has run its course. With transfer rules the way they are and the ability schools have shown to come up with buyout money when it's needed, it just doesn't mean what it used to. Also, athletes have a lot more access to information than they used to, thanks to social media. You just can't really pull anything over on them anymore.
  20. Any AD who is above average, which Wren clearly is, probably has a list of 4-5 coaches they could call within 24 hours of any head coaching change, particularly in the big sports.
  21. We can’t even get that many alumni to come to a single football game. Why would we think they would all donate 10 bucks a month?
  22. Aren’t scholarships renewed annually? So really you’re talking about a one year “contract” anyway.
  23. I don’t think the heat was ever real anyway. It was year 1 with a new coach. If they really thought it should be a great year, they shouldn’t have fired Herman. That said, I would bet that without a pretty big leap this year things might start to warm up a little.
  24. Honestly, I know it’s fun to poke fun of Texas but I think it actually tells you a lot about the Mannings’ trust in Sark. With Manning money already in the coffers, you’ve got to think this is actually a football decision. He doesn’t need the $$$’s.
