  1. So you’re suggesting fans will have a strained relationship if a new coach decides he has someone he wants on his staff more than Cobbs?
  2. I was wondering the same thing. I don’t see any mention of Texas State turning him down, but maybe I’m missing something.
  3. I completely agree with you. I have stated in another thread I would let the new coach make ALL his own calls. I would just love to see some of our former players involved in the program when there's opportunities and they can help the program. I get that. I just figure he's probably not going to play in Canada forever. If there's a chance to get him involved in this program when he's ready to move on, I'd love to see it.
  4. Not to hijack this thread, but I would love the new HC to consider bringing Marcus Trice onto his staff as a defensive coach. I would love to see at least 1 former player as a coach on each side of the ball. Cobbs/Trice would be a good combo in my mind. If you could get Mason in here as an offensive analyst or something, that would be cool to me too.
  5. I think Cobbs is probably the only one who stays, but it all depends on who the new coach is.
  6. I watched the video. Acknowledging I've never sat through a team meeting, my guess is that was pretty tame compared to a lot of team meetings.
  7. I think it's fine for an AD to recommend keeping a particular coach on staff, but I would never want an AD to require a coach to keep anyone on staff. You're setting up an adversarial relationship from the get-go and giving the coach something to point to if things don't work out. Let them bring in their guys. If a coach on staff fits what they want, great. If not, it's the head coach's decision.
  8. At the end of the day, some dudes are going to hit the portal and be out. I hope whoever the new coach is has a plan for/some experience with bringing in some other dudes from the portal.
  9. He hasn’t been the AD there since last year
  10. I have no idea what point you’re trying to make, but no is the answer to your question. He’s never even been a college coach.
  11. Given the timing, I might consider making Jared interim for a year and go ahead and hire a coach. Considering these hires are typically by committee, it’s not ever just the AD’s hire. And you get to see if Jared is a good fit for permanency.
  12. I honestly just don’t see Holtz firing up a fan base very much that seems to need someone who can light some fires around here. Maybe he’s safe. I don’t know. His La Tech teams were fine. His winning percentage at La Tech was a little better than Seth, but it’s not like they won 70% of their games.
  13. I hope that whoever they hire comes in with a fire and excitement towards the fans/community like Traylor and McGuire have shown. I think this program needs a shot of adrenaline from the head coach!
  14. No offense to anyone on this board, but if they need this input this program is screwed. I hope they already have a list narrowed down to a handful of coaches… with conversations already happening.
  15. If I was KD, there’s no way I’d play in this game
  16. The biggest assumption in this thread is that a decision hasn’t already been made, whether that decision is right or wrong in each person’s eyes.
  17. I mean why would anyone have thought this offense might have scored before half?…?…
  18. Bad officiating is truly just the norm in college football. Dang!
  19. I know that run turned out well, but I hate shotgun handoffs from your own 1 yard line…
  20. I agree. I think at UNT you need an AD who is hungry and on the way up. You need someone who will think of new and creative ways to generate revenue. Going to the same handful of donors has been the strategy before and during the WB tenure. Time to try something different.
  21. I saw that too
  22. He extended Neal Brown after mediocre first two years at WVU, basically
