  1. I got this same vibe on quite a few plays Saturday. I think that gets fixed this week.
  2. Let’s maybe get through season 1 before we crown Deion king of college football. Lots of ball to be played.
  3. I guess the thing I’m trying to wrap my head around is where you draw the line. Take Colorado for example. Let’s say they finish this year 5-7 and Deion wants some new luggage. Does he just purge his whole roster again? What’s the long term impact to the program?
  4. I’m just not completely convinced you can build a program doing what Deion has done (Or TXST or Cal). I honestly throw the TCU game out because I think part of the success there can be attributed to surprise, part of it from TCU taking a step back this year, etc. My question is how that translates the rest of the year and into the next few years. It may prove to be a winning strategy. I’m just still not 100% convinced. I’m also not sure coaches not named Deion can get away with it. That said, I think that with a full year under their belt our coaches have an opportunity to plug some holes now that they’ve seen our talent in their schemes. I’m just not sure it’s the 40-80 player overhaul. i type all this knowing Deion may very well prove it works. I’m just unsure.
  5. I’m glad he is. Whatever it takes! I would love for them to prove people wrong about this team.
  6. The coaches can’t make tackles for them. A lot of those big plays we’re big because they didn’t tackle.
  7. Then you haven’t really been paying attention. Our fan support is not good, as evidenced by our financial numbers year after year. Just thank the students for the bulk of the financial support this program currently has.
  8. I’m holding judgment. Coaches lose some head scratchers every now and then, particularly in year 1. Saban lost to ULM his first year at Bama. Good thing they didn’t go scorched earth and fire him.
  9. Prime wasn’t coming to Denton
  10. Agreed. One of the great mysteries as a Mean Green fan has always been our willingness to overlook or make excuses for our own attendance issues.
  11. I think some of this is growing pains of the change to the 3-3-5. The live game experience should be helpful moving forward.
  12. I would like to propose locking any thread in the football forum that’s not about Cal today. It’s a workday!
  13. Oh, I think it will be. They’ll throw their weight around and it’ll get changed. I think it stays for now… But the SEC has pretty much already said they want it to be the Top 12 ranked teams no matter what.
  14. This assumes the “G5” slot in the playoffs is even still a thing.
  15. This is changing. Bank on it. SEC/B10 just have to say “change this or we are breaking away right now” and it will get changed.
  16. The one thing SMU football has taught me in my lifetime is that they are willing to pay to play. That’s it. That’s the one thing.
  17. Who knew SMU would invent the reverse game guarantee? Instead of someone paying them $1M to come play, they’re going to pay $1M to them to go play.
  18. I don't actually think Oregon State and Washington State really make the MWC that much stronger. I think people are way overhyping those two programs. They don't add national exposure for the MWC. I can't imagine very many people in Gainesville or Miami staying up to watch WSU vs. SDSU. The further they are removed from the PAC, the more "regular MWC school" they will become.
  19. I feel like this makes it very clear that the bump in the media contract wasn't going to cover the expanded cost of traveling to the Pacific Northwest for the current AAC members.
  20. Just give it a couple of years. I don't think there's any way the B10/SEC let the ACC remain a "power conference." As a matter of fact, I give it 1-2 years before the B10/SEC pluck the schools they want and the ACC ends up in the same boat as the P12. My prediction for the future The B10/SEC pluck the best of ACC schools The B10/SEC break off from the rest of FBS They create their own rules around paying players They create a similar structure to the NFL with conferences and divisions They end up with their own playoffs They crown their own national champion At that point, I think the rest of the conferences and the ACC leftovers (like SMU) go back to being more regional and playing in a separate playoff system.
