No. I want us to put our foot on the gas pedal and score as fast and as often as we can.

You comfortable with a 10 point lead?

I love it too, man. Play to put them away!

Was Morris the Wrong Hire? (Spoiler.. We Don't Know)

And there’s a lot of nuance to each of those scenarios. I’m not going to pretend to know anything about those other coaches or programs. My ultimate point is similar to JD’s original post in that it’s still 2 games in and there’s a lot of football left to be played. I’m not going to burn the place down. -

You and I are going to disagree. That’s okay. Yes, I do think it’s easier when the head coach, strength coach, overall culture, etc. is the same, despite a group (insert number of coaches of your choosing) of coaches being replaced. -

Huh? There is a difference in one coach learning about a team and an entire staff. -

It depends on what happens in…say…maybe the next 10 games. I’m not ready to say what the trajectory is at this point. These players and coaches are still learning about each other. Lots of ball left to play. -

Maybe, but that also doesn’t make it not true. -

I haven’t seen anyone accepting poor. I have seen people saying, “let’s give this staff more than two weeks.” -

No, it’s not. There are fans who question every decision every coach ever makes. There are fans in Tuscaloosa ready to run off Saban this week. -

It’s still funny that the mere suggestion that this program wasn’t really that close to great success is met with so much resistance from the same folks who didn’t care about that in conversations about Littrell. The conference championship game appearance didn’t matter...The bowl appearances didn’t matter… but now they’re some reflection of this program not being in bad shape???? You can’t have it both ways. Coaches will tell you that anytime there is a change at the top it’s a rebuild. New coaches, new schemes, new culture, new vocabulary, etc. The only exception would be if you promote a “coach in waiting” who keeps everything the same. -
Pretty sure Patterson's a 4-2-5 guy.

I think both of these schools would be worth looking at to see what they're doing to get fans to buy in. They're both traditionally middle of the pack in their conferences, with a few exceptional years thrown in. I can also acknowledge that there's something to be said for hosting Texas/OU/Bama/etc. at least every other year. I get that. All that said, I just think they've done an amazing job of getting buy-in for their football programs even though they seem to be the exception to the "win and get support" mentality. If I was an AD, I would have my team wear out their counterpart's phones at those two schools (particularly Texas Tech since we just brought in a marketing person from there). There's no reason to reinvent the wheel. Do we need to win some games? Of course. But those schools are doing something to get fan buy-in that goes beyond winning games.

I love the idea of bringing in someone like Patterson as some kind of special assistant to the head coach. Texas State did that with David Bailiff, former HFC there and at Rice. I think these young coaches would benefit from and elder statesman having his pulse on the program.
-
I know I’m in the minority on this, but I would love it if the American brought in Texas State. I love regional rivalries and hate that conference realignment is ignoring regional matchups.
-
I’m pretty sure those two schools hate each other more than we do with UTSA. And Texas State has a lot of bitterness that UTSA has gotten to move up before them.

Mack Brown going off on the NCAA
DentonLurker replied to cousin oliver's topic in Mean Green Football
I’m not familiar with JT’s full story, but I found an article saying he got a waiver when he went to Georgia. I think the January rule is tightening down on waivers. That’s what Mack is complaining about. -

He already used his free transfer and they filed a waiver that would keep him from having to sit out a year.
