I’m out on Witten. This program has hopefully outgrown hiring high school coaches.

Who cares? At the end of the day, what uniform a team wears has very little to do with brand recognition. I’ve never watched a football game where it was hard to figure out what programs I was watching.

Meh, just win. I don’t care what helmet gets worn. Winning is the only real way to improve our brand.

I don’t think Mack Brown’s the answer here either, but let’s not pretend McCarney is anywhere near Brown in terms of head coaching success. Brown would be a huge upgrade.

But with a better defense, he may not feel like he needs to be that risky. He knew they needed to score often to stand a chance at winning these games.

I’ve mentioned it before and I’m not dissing anyone’s musical talent, but our band is just kind of boring. At places where the band is more prominent than DATCU, there’s usually a reason. The band adds an element of entertainment. Our band plays a lot of “traditional band music” instead of stuff today’s fan is going to find fun.

I think he would even agree with this. Sometimes people act like the coaches don't see the same things we do. You may disagree with how they handle something (like keeping Caponi this year), but they see the same things we do.

I am. Hitting reset on the defense vs. reset on the entire team seems like the most efficient way to handle this. If he could go get a proven DC, and maybe even a former head coach somewhere as an analyst, I actually like his chances of working out.

Agreed. We need a Boone Pickens. One person who can just write a check for some of the pet projects of the department like the Athletic Center expansion, Softball upgrade, new football locker room/lounge, new basketball arena, etc.

I think I’d consider giving Mestemaker the keys to the offense for a possession or two. Chandler has just been off these last couple of games.

We just don’t have the athletes it takes to run the 3-3-5. It’s time to move on.

What do you expect them to do if every spot is claimed, either by donors or sales? They can’t make the passes get used, but can you imagine if they oversold that lot and people with valid passes showed up with no spot to park in?

Yeah right… Our D didn’t cause Morris to throw picks in the red zone or cause us to not be able to punch the ball in from the 1. The offense just didn’t make the plays we are used to them making. The defense had nothing to do with that. Coach Morris is like Mike Leach was. He’s super aggressive. That’s going to win you some games and lose you some games, particularly when you don’t make plays you’re used to making.

We don’t have the money to do what you’re suggesting.

I get why they do it. I just don’t like that you take a lower price point away, particularly when you’re trying to attract casual fans from Denton County who may not have any direct connection to UNT.

This seems like such a weird strategy.
