  1. These coaches are going for it on 4th down because they know field goals aren’t going to win this game.
  2. This was well played in their part. Got them a Game Day mention this morning too.
  3. Yeah right… it’s more that channel is driven by expected viewership. If the networks don’t think people will watch, you move down a level. And more often than not, if you ultimately polled fans, the decisions would be the same.
  4. I love this look!
  5. The outcome of this game is going to be 100% contingent on how our offense does early, IMO. If I’m the coach, I want the ball first and want to go get points on the board. We have to put the pedal down and keep it there. Take the crowd out of the game early and build a cushion.
  6. @EAGLE83 Here's how USA Today described their deals.
  7. I think the answer to your question is "It depends..."
  8. I get that I may be the minority on this thread about this, but I would a million times over prefer the university/athletics spend their time and $’s figuring out ways to have events around DATCU that drag people over there vs a parade that happens away from the stadium.
  9. GMG.com's new motto "Where you go to learn the ins and outs of the 3-3-5 and qualifications of an athletics band director"
  10. Maybe, just maybe, there’s a lot more to it than just talent level. Perhaps he wasn’t working very hard in practice, maybe he hadn’t learned the playbook well enough, maybe he wasn’t being a good team player, etc. Truth is, I have no idea. But neither do you. I feel like Eric Morris has proven his ability to recognize and develop QB’s so it seems pretty clear something was off with CR early this year.
  11. Meh, the uniform combination has never won or lost a single game.
  12. He’s right, you know?
  13. I love this uniform! And it plays right into there being an eclipse in the middle of the game. Really cool!
  14. The pretzel is part of a $20 package that comes with a ticket, drink ticket, and pretzel. Drink tickets are on sale through the ticket office website for $5. LINK
  15. I hear what you guys are saying, but here's a rundown of things happening this game Pregame Concert Free Breakfast Tacos for Students Solar Eclipse Glasses Giveaway $5 Bloody Marys & Mimosas Under the Wing until Kickoff $20 Oktoberfest Ticket Package (game ticket, beer sampling tickets, pretzel) Oktoberfest food/drink specials during the game Postgame Tailgate I'm not sure it's fair criticism for this particular game.
  16. In our defense, none of our paid lots are as far from DATCU as that parking is from the Liberty Bowl Stadium. There’s even a reply to that tweet from a Memphis fan questioning why they ever charge for that lot they’re promoting as free.
  17. I thought this was an interesting note too. The funny thing is this is more in line with what I would have thought the original intent of NIL would have been in that a company is basically paying for billboards on these trucks and the student-athletes are driving them around town advertising their company. Upon further examination, I'm actually more inclined to support these types of deals than much of what these Collectives have been doing.
  18. I appreciate your dedication to post-game tailgating. My kind of team! 😁
  19. @GrayEagle USA Today Link
  20. They have done gimmicks like this over the years. They don’t work in the long run. I like the concerts and Oktoberfest stuff. We have to find ways to make games more of an event that draws in student groups. I wish I knew the secret to getting to the place where students views DATCU as a “can’t miss event.” Outside of consistently adding entertainment around the games, the only other thing that will get students to and keep them coming is winning entertaining games.
  21. A conference championship and bowl game program that everyone was so proud of that we fired the coach? In all the SL conversations no one was near this proud of that program that had been built. But the second anyone suggests it might take a little time to elevate the program, everyone loves to point out how great this program was doing under SL...I truly don’t get it: This may not have been a down to the studs rebuild, but it certainly wasn’t move-in ready.
  22. I think the difference is what coaches are trying to build. I think the players who went to Colorado bought into what Deion is building. It’s just not the long term dynasty we are used to seeing from Saban, Smart, etc.
  23. Don't be reasonable. This is the internet!
