Again, that's just not how contracts work. If it was that easy, then why wouldn't schools who want to get rid of any coach not just demote them to RB coach or some other random position @ $50k to get out of paying them their full salary?
-
NIL changes the game on this though. For most college football players, the reality is they won’t get drafted so if you can go get paid in college you should do it.

I’ve never signed a contract that would let someone lower my pay.

There are so many excuses for not supporting this program financially it gets exhausting. I’m just thankful we tax the students and don’t give them a choice. Otherwise, this program would be FCS or D2. ”I’ll support the program when <insert random measure of success>.”

Meh, if it’s personnel (as I tend to think it is) then a good coach isn’t going to publicly throw players under the bus. If it’s making any staff changes, again, he’s not going to say anything publicly until they make a change. So what are you wanting those talking points to be?

Did you write your check to buy him out?

What does this have to do with North Texas Football? We got out of that dumpster fire, thank goodness.

Not sure on pricing, but Tony Johnson with Assembly Line OL5 Camps is one of the best in the business. Although since he took the Copperas Cove job, I’m not sure if he’s still doing DFW camps. I’m also sure UNT will host camps this summer.

That’s a lot of offense

I’ll also add that, as a coach, I wouldn’t want to have a reputation as a coach who doesn’t do what’s best for a player’s development. You can bet that if I’m recruiting against a coach who does what you guys are suggesting, I’m going to make sure recruits and their parents know that.
-
My opinion is you’ve got to coach like all your players are coming back and recruit like any of them could leave at any point. In the scenario brought up here, you redshirt players you would normally redshirt and play players you would normally play. What happens if you think a player is going to transfer, blow their redshirt, and they decide to stay?

Is the "Triangle of Toughness" moving to College Station?

I get the point you’re trying to make, but recruiting and getting good athletes was not Jimbo’s issue at A&M. -

So if they think a high school recruit gives us a better chance of winning games than a portal player, you would defer to the portal just to check a box? Portal doesn’t necessarily equal better, in my opinion. -

I don’t really see why quantity would matter at all. I just want them to go get athletes that make this team better. I don’t care where they come from. -
1- Our APR is 108. They would probably not dip that far. 2- You never turn down a bowl invite.

Grading First Year Head Coaches (with two games to go)

I feel like what Colorado and Texas State have proven is that the combo of a new coach and a roster reset buys you some element of surprise early, but once there’s film on you and by conference play you get to learn what a coaching staff and players are made of. -

You guys who dig up these old threads to get in a gotcha? -

I completely disagree with this. I think the most successful programs will be built with high school recruits and use transfers to fill misses or transfers out. -
What are you talking about?
