Hmmm yeah we had an opening at Dline coach wish we would have gotten him. UTSA continues to improve while we stay the same.- 37 replies

Welp..... -
TWU has one of the best exercise science programs in the area. Plenty of guys go there for their undergrad.

Another person I wanted at UNT off to a rival

Why would you want a 2 star to play up to a 3 star when you could have a 3 star play up to a 4 star?? recruiting always matter. I just don't get the logic behind it. Coaching is important but we have to stop down playing the recruiting aspect!
-
Well Harrell is the solo OC while EK and Reff split so I'm ok with that even if I question some play calling. I can't question that our QB recruits/transfers have been the best in some years and I credit that to Harrell.
-
Why yes, yes we do. If you had an exceptional NFL career I think we can find a place somewhere on the staff for you!
-
I agree, What's the budget to hire an Oline coach? Would we give a pay bump for a coach or would we keep it the same for the new coach? Maybe Wren can work out something to get us extra money for the position. It is one of the most important on the staff and he needs to be able to not only be a good coach but be able to get the talent at the position.
-
Maybe out of left field but what about Brian Waters? Not sure if he would want to coach or if he would be a good fit but he knows how to play the oline and a alumni that was an All-Pro seems like a good fit.

No, I am done sugarcoating our short comings. I like some of the kids we brought in but every time I compare us to pretty much every school in Texas I like their class better. It's a poor class, and it's over. It is what it is, and they could develop and play well or play to what they are projected. I just can't look past the fact that nearly every recruit that had competitive offers choose elsewhere and I'm not letting the staff off the hook for it. It's time they do what apparently is what they are good at and start developing.

6 Blue shirts!? We have 6 spots in the next class already taken!?!?!?!

HOD Bowl Depth Chart Minus Seniors/Transfers (offense)
p_phelps replied to TreeFiddy's topic in Mean Green Football
I was liking it all until I got to WR. That was the spot we needed to upgrade the most in my book. I think we have upgraded and hope Rutherford finally takes that step forward. He should be unstoppable in the redzone! They should work on that corner fade to him everyday in spring ball! -
I'd rather take the 57th ranked in the nation with a coaching staff that can make them play up to their potential. I appreciate the positive thinking and spinning, but fact is until we recruit better we won't be able to have a maintained success.

Compare Fine to Mullen Frosh year.....
p_phelps replied to MeanGreen_MBA's topic in Mean Green Football
I like Fine alot, but his limitations showed up last year. He has a chance to grow and get much better but I'm happy with the 2 guys we have in to compete. If Isadora beats him in camp, Fine should sit and continue to develop. Can Fine be redshirted or did we burn his last year? -

Blue shirts included, it's still a poor class. -
247 Final 2017 C-USA Recruiting Rankings

Top 100+. we didn't crack the top 100........ that's not good. -
The fact that we are behind the like of appalachian state and many more smaller schools. The fact we remain stagnant when others around us get substantially better. It's not a good class

Grade the Littrell Hire V5 (First Full NSD)
p_phelps replied to Cerebus's topic in Mean Green Football
This class is unacceptable for me. When compared to other schools in our conference that have passed us by is so infuriating! The FAU, UTSA, FIU were all in our boat last year and now they have stacked classes. Recruiting is what wins in college football. TALENT WINS HERE. X's and O's win in the NFL. We need talent and this class doesn't fit the bill and I'm ticked off when FIU FREAKING FIU has a class I can only dream for us to have. We are barley ahead of Rice and UTEP.. makes me sick to even say that. SL better win NOW or Wren better make a change. Sick of being passed by from lesser programs. I demand more! -
While I often times agree with your points, as true and painful as they are at times, who do you have as our top recruit even if bradley is included. He was the most excited player for me and I just noticed he is our highest ranking on 247. Take that for what it's worth. This does seem like a "fallback" but I'll take size and speed with this staff all day long. I feel like we can develop well enough, if we get the un-coachable (size and speed) attributes we can get more out of a player the most expect.

'17 WR Greg White (Georgia) [LOI: NT]
p_phelps replied to BillySee58's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
That would be great!! would get people not even interested in UNT to come out and we may catch their eye! Brilliant idea!! Love the partnership with the most popular football team on the planet. I love going to Dallascowboys.com to listen to the draft show and the first thing I notice is the green ribbon (offical partners of the Dallas Cowboys UNT). Wren is doing more now than the former ever did. Must be somthing in the water over there in Clarksville Tx/Valliant OK ;p -

That was the point I was trying to make in a different thread and it makes us look like a weak fan base and lets be honest, we don't have the strongest. I would love for some us, our more committed fans, throw some love to these recruits on twitter. If nothing else a like and a retweet. People that don't have a twitter need to get it. I have it only for sports, and that's it. I only retweet unt things and the only follows I have are UNT players, commits, or ones with UNT offers. There is no excuse not to at least help on twitter, you never know what may sway a 17 yr old's decision. I'm 26 and I remember when I was recruited, the facebook and myspace love I got was really cool. Kids like that. We need our ego stroked and for UNT to become it's potential we can't leave it all to the coaches and organization. Us as fans must do everything in our power to help. -

Don't think he is demanding a source. Think he is anxious like most of us are and would like the type of source and not THE source. -

well that hurts all the momentum we had tonight. I'm bummed, he would have been electric in this offense.
