  1. That’s on the Bowl. They’ve changed the ticket pricing 3 times since the game was announced.
  2. Any idea how this was setup? Was it a bowl sponsored tailgate area or Texas State fans organized?
  3. One free transfer after 2 years (this protects both the players and coaches since we see a lot of "encouraging" by coaching staffs these days) and an additional transfer if your head coach gets fired. I really think we're *right* there to a pretty good system but can sometimes feel hopeless for schools like ours when the pendulum swings are drastically as it did.
  4. 100%. IMO coaching changes should always open a window for players to move on if they wish.
  5. Everyone has their own situations. Please don't give if you have needs elsewhere. BUT if you can and want to dip your toes in, $10/month is easy to stomach.
  6. Opened this up and saw Howard Sampson on the move again.
  7. If you are able, please consider setting up a recurring membership with the Light The Tower NIL. You can contribute as low as $10/month. Treat it as a Netflix membership to North Texas athletics. Our advantage is with our number of alumni. You don't have pledge a lot. But $10 here and there adds up. I don't blame you if you don't and will not give to NIL. Totally understand both sides of the argument. And I'm not saying your $10 would keep the next star QB around, but can it make the difference in keeping other players? Absolutely.
  8. And that's why everyone below that line needs to stop fighting it and let them have their little members only club. They are going to get their way so go on the offensive and push them away while you still have the little power you have left. Create player contracts with buyout clauses. Create a system of promotion/relegation amongst yourselves. Regionalize your divisions to bring back what college football used to be and why people fell in love with it. If the SEC/Big10 wants to be NFL-lite, fine. Go away and let us have our fun.
  9. Buddy… last time around you had 5 catches all season at that higher level. All these players think it won’t happen to them… until it does.
  10. Because they can just go out and buy whatever they need. QB sucks? Just go get the best passer in G5. Need a couple backup DBs? Here’s a blank check Mr XYZ player.
  11. Working great for the SEC and Big10. That’s who these courts are really fighting for.
  12. Not to be an ass because I think DT is a very good G5 WR…. But I don’t see him getting more than a handful of catches next season at a power school.
  13. Somehow makes the bowl a can’t lose proposition. If we win, we can make fun of Texas State for losing to a true freshman QB
  14. Making NIL/scholarships a 2 year minimum deal would fix a lot of what is broken right now. Not perfect but would be better.
  15. This is his last year.
  16. That’s a fair observation. I agree with that.
  17. Man it really isn’t that deep. The stadium is just a vessel for the bowl game. It’s not “we get to play here because SMU is playing for bigger things”
  18. Going to be First Responders Bowl
  19. We fired our coach and had more than that show up in Frisco
  20. The Athletic currently shows Jan 3 vs NC State
  21. Me to all the teams that will come sniffing around:
  22. There will always be a few "yeah, but..." people for every North Texas hire/decision. Some people just live in misery.
  23. Hire might tell you that the school has more risk appetite than we do. I highly doubt Cassity takes the job unless he had assurances that Eric's job is safe.. for now.
  24. My pitch to Micah: We don’t have a lot of money, but we do have one more year of Chandler Morris. Come catch 75 balls then go make a bajillion dollars in the portal.
  25. Programs that know who they are have the most sustained success. For example: I admire the way Oklahoma State found a coach that works for them and stuck with it. They know they’re not a perennial contender but they’re good enough to make some noise every now and then. Could they risk what they have going by trying to get a coach to “get them over the hump?” Sure. But is it worth the risk of cratering? Obviously they haven’t thought so.
