I just don’t think the university does enough to get students in the door. This dates back to when I was a student. People don’t go to UNT because of our sporting events, but it doesn’t mean a lot of the students don’t like to watch sports. You just gotta figure out how to engage them. And historically, we haven’t been good at it unfortunately.

I’m a very loud proponent of fix the game atmosphere and you’ll solve a lot of the issues. You may only have one shot to convince a fan, alumni, student, etc to come back. If the place isn’t rocking, you missed an opportunity to excite someone.

A team that can get as hot as they can always has a chance. It’ll be a tough game. Let’s see if FAU has enough juice left. Saturday is a quick turnaround after playing a physical team like Tennessee.

I think there are a few reasons why this is but one I don’t see talked about a lot is the effect the Covid year had on the fan base. Casual people didn’t get to experience that year like we (diehards) did. The casual fan didn’t get to build that bond with the team bc they were not able to attend games, see them win the CUSA tourney, see the Purdue win, etc. I know people that have become more invested during this season than that 2021 season. College sports are emotional and it’s hard to form that bond when you’re kept an arms length away.

I think most here understand but don’t be that dude that’s in Gumms mentions being an a**. It’s not the end of the world. I know we all feel blindsided but come on. That’s low level stuff.
