I had class with Tony Mitchell. Only saw him on exam days. Or maybe that was just because I only showed up on exam days? Hard to tell.

Went to the UNT.edu homepage this morning...

Not a single ounce of accountability. All it takes is a quick statement from Keller saying "hey yeah we overlooked the possibility of post season basketball in the Pit and that's on us. We'll be better". It's really not that hard. -

You think the school administration that forced their basketball team out of their home arena so they could host an employee lunch of 100 people gives a single damn about athletics? -
No one’s list in particular. Just looking around college basketball and there isn’t any surefire “yes, that guy” other than Scott Cross. There isn’t a 2017 Grant McCasland nor a 2023 Ross Hodge. I’m looking specifically for coaches with HC experience and familiarity with Texas. Maybe the school isn’t? Is Texas ties as important as it used to be bc of the portal? If not, maybe Richie Riley as South Alabama?

Got 2 people on the wrong here. Coach is wrong for making promises he couldn’t keep. The player is wrong for thinking he was going to get $125,000 from UTSA basketball.
-
Miller has a similar resume as Ross just didn’t coach in JUCO quite a long. Looking at the current candidate pool, I think a 2 year for him could be the best option. Maybe it works and it’s great! If not, you can quickly hit the nuke button and hope the next cycle is more favorable

Just an absolute perfect storm of a shitty hiring situation. If DeVries never leaves WVU and if any of the other 2-3 targets say yes to the job, Ross probably back next year on a contract extension and bigger buyout.

Ross Hodge Replacement Candidates?
MeanGreen22 replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Basketball
This hire will tell us a lot about how the school/AD views basketball and how committed they are to it. Show us what you got, Mosley. -
Same twitter folks that were all over Grant to TTU, unfortunately.

Ever had a boss that told you to do something you really didn't want to do? Now did you do it? Of course you did.
-
Absolutely on the school administration but Jared is having to take the fall as the face of athletics. Jared is a basketball guy through and through, and I’d bet is just as annoyed by this as we are

Think Brett deleted this when realized the tweet was aggregated from a small podcast that was giving their "projection" based on rumors.

Grant was at $1mil when he finally got poached. Ross will hit that number very soon.

Really need the Shockers to return to their former glory. Their fans are awesome and passionate. Would be a HUGE boost to the image of American basketball.

He wants to go back to the good ol days where the SEC got to pay kids under the table instead.

Ranting about the AD, Students, Attendance and Fan Support
MeanGreen22 replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
That’s kinda what I’m saying. What if the AD had investigated and the feedback is “We’re good”? Let’s not pretend that most kids that go to UNT aren’t there for the athletic prestige. I’m just trying to play devils advocate here because it’s obviously not an easy task or else it would be done. -

Has anyone stopped to think maybe we know why people don’t show and it just is what it is. We collectively come here and workshop different things to engage the unengaged, but if they just don’t want to come then not sure what you’re suppose to do at this point. -
FWIW, the do usually do a "Greek" night once a year. Only so many times you can really pull that string. Also, don't discount the blue haired "nerds" of UNT. More of them show up to these games than Greek life does.

If they truly wanted Texas State, it would be announced by now. Seems pretty plain that they are the back up to the back up plan. Unfortunately for the Pac, that plan is the most likely at this point in time.

"Also, the Bobcats are good enough – they have gone bowling each of the past two seasons." Man if this is the criteria, we should be considered a powerhouse program after going bowling 7 out of the last 9 seasons lol

Evans, Sibley, Gray, McGill, Harris, Clayton-Johnson, Hawkins, Becks. Just a loaded room full of talent. Cobbs will comb through it all and get us worked out.

It's not shown in the rendering but I remember hearing that the central video board would be replaced with TWO video boards on each side that were the same size as the current one. Now maybe that has changed but renderings are not always the final product.

I think he's made some positive changes in a lot of key areas. The fall kickoff gala before football season was a great event. I believe season ticket sales are up across the board(?). The street basketball event was a lot of fun. I think he's handled 2 coaching hires pretty well.. I like Eric and think he's a good coach (but yes, this is a make a break year.. just how this goes). I LOVE Ross. Even though that was kind of a layup, Jared should get props for not overthinking and wanting to make a big splash on his first hire. Football made some great strides this year in putting butts in seats. Win a couple more games that it looks even better. Yes, basketball is still behind in that regard but its not fair to ask someone to fix a couple decade long issue in 2 years. I've seen enough positives to give him the benefit of the doubt and give flexibility to things here or there that may still need addressing.
