He was going to Smu under Morris before Baylor flipped him, but Seth did recruit him in HS. He’s had his moments at Baylor but the team’s wheels fell off this season. Fans were going after him hard on social media and clamoring for his backup during games. Between that treatment and injuries I think he’s looking for a fresh start not a QB competition as a Senior. We can offer a change of scenery, a pass friendly offense and the starting gig. He will have other suitors to be sure but I’d take a shot at landing him.
-
Any takers for Baylor’s QB he just popped up in the portal today. One year grad transfer. 40 starts 9700 yds passing and 65 TD’s

If Darden doesn’t play in the bowl to avoid injury and guys like Tyreke and Novil are still out it would be a mistake to accept a bid. If it’s a game before Christmas there will basically be no extra practice time.

Potential Transfers from the Current Team
xyresic replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
I deleted it since this argument is going nowhere. My point was not that Aune is a great runner it was that Bean has not been a consistent runner once teams have been prepared for it. If you are going to hang your hat on running ability you need better stats than a yard per carry over that time. I’m not anti Bean, I think he was misused this year and that he should have been brought in as a package player who saw a roll expand over the season. -
Aune has a ton of room to improve (esp. on accuracy of intermediate throws) but that DT comparison is a bit slanderous. DT was always an INT machine. In his peak season with 390 passes DT had 16 tds and 13 picks with 7.4 yds per. Aune in 180 attempts had 13 tds and 4 picks this season w/ 8.9 yds per. Aune has the better pedigree, better tools and is arguably already a better QB. Aune isn’t a game manager QB like DT, he’s much more of a downfield threat. Aune needs to sharpen the intermediate throws so we can convert 3rd downs and extend drives.
-
If we land a big transfer they will start otherwise I think Aune is the favorite to start in 2021, and he has the tools to be better than Thompson (better speed and better arm). He opens up the offense so teams can’t stack the run, with Bean our options are Darden or a Bean scramble. Bean doesn’t yet have the awareness to make reads or get secondary Wr’s involved. That is why Bean has actually taken more sacks than Aune in less dropbacks. As an example Simpson had over 100 yds last night vs 28 in Bean’s last start.

You can like Bean with out being like this... -
Maybe with all of this free time you can get a job & donate the proceeds to LaTech. Might help keep your next AD around instead of getting poached to be P5 assistant.
-
Looking forward to seeing their President's statement on this too, bet she doesn't come with that same energy.
-
Could also look at Carlos Henderson from LaTech. Huge college numbers, similar size - ran a 4.46 and was drafted in the 3rd. Unfortunately ran into some injuries/issues in the league and I don't think he is on a team this season. Guyton was more of a 4.4 under type, I was puzzled no one drafted him after running a 4.37 at 6 foot 1 with that pedigree.
-
Per Football Scoop and the younger Barnett we were in contact with UTEP and CUSA in an effort to make this a mutual decision & they refused. We offered to foot the bill for them to play here and they refused. Then they put out a PR blasting us, their President blasted us and then Dimel said we should forfeit. Their response has been ridiculous and I am embarrassed for them. I very much forward to playing them in December or next year and showing absolutely no mercy.
-
Wow, you weren’t kidding, looking at Twitter their fans & students are applauding us and she is arguing with them. Not a good look on her part when El Paso had more new cases yesterday than the entire state of Arizona.
-
I think this makes sense, El Paso is in a bad spot right now. They instituted a curfew and their hospitals are at capacity with cases surging.

I admit this made me laugh. You think during a pandemic UNT will make their highest paid assistant a secondary coach? I will be utterly shocked if this happened or if Bowen would accept it. I think you are viewing Ek through rose colored glasses. He lived in a trailer while here, bounced on us then failed at UNC/Kansas. He hasn't shown the ability to stick anywhere and sometimes there is a reason for that. There are some behind the scenes things that make me question his brain power from this season. He is an ok recruiter/energy guy but I would pass on this. I'd prefer a clean break so the team could start over on D but this most likely scenario is that someone gets in Bowen's ear and we see an influx of younger players and more flexibility in his scheme instead of trying to hit a square peg into a round hole every game. With the performance we have seen and the eligibility rules in place it is crazy to not let the young guys start building up experience.

This team really needs KD Davis, Shorter and Addaway back, arguably 3 of our top 5 players. Earlier Emmitt said Aune was benefiting from having Addaway while Bean wasn’t. With out Addaway Aune looked good. Billy keeps posting the stats that back this up. Torrey is a dynamic change up back, but seems to be more of a 5-10 touches a game player. They need Oscar to move the chains, create yards after contact and help the offense hold the ball a bit longer. With Shorter & Addaway in we would have seen a different game offensively. The offensive depth needs to play much better. The easy TD drop, passes bouncing off Wr’s and three missed FGs took away momentum and at least 16 points. I think offensively at full strength we are ok, but Seth needs to do a better job developing the talent that’s here to create some depth. Defensively we are abysmal. The scheme is not working and we have no depth. In the past when facing individual NFL talent we would get roasted - think Aaron Jones, Sutton, Singletary, Carlos Henderson etc. this year it’s worse. Key players are out and we have offensive players getting big playing time on D. Players are out of position, missing reads and tackles. I think this season needs to be immediately all about developing our young talent. As a wake up call the next defensive performance like this I’d start firing coaches.

I’d like to see advancement eat a bit more of their own cooking. A few of the top administrators have donated large amounts to athletics and academics. With out naming names advancement has not. Things like that and Graham donating 25 bucks to the mean green club back in the day tend to ruffle my feathers a bit. I get that everyone’s financial situation is different but I think it makes it harder to get others to commit when they see things like that. When I am donating at a much higher level than people getting paid hundreds of thousands of dollars by the university it gives me pause. As Mark said the culture is changing and there will be bumps along the way - while we are setting records there is much room for improvement.

It is Ashley Pickle - she is doing great work at DCTF.

I have no direct role, just a fan & supporter of the school. The quoted post was from the schools press release, apologies if that wasn't clear. I know many of the AD/faculty and staff and I think overall they are trying to do things right - was just voicing a bit of frustration at a small set of students trying to leverage current events in a retaliatory way for not getting a multimillion dollar building for "diversity" in the fall.

UNT Dallas Becomes Newest Sooner Athletic Conference Member

UNT health science center is separate, not part of UNT Denton. -
Interestingly this doesn't seem like "nothing" - these are both from today: I had a productive meeting with #UNT administrators yesterday regarding demands from students about action on our diversity and inclusion plans. I am inviting leaders of our various student groups to meet next Wednesday to review our action plan. I will publicly announce our plans after the meeting with student leaders. I value direct conversation with our students, faculty and staff. Our plans will include the direct involvement of our student leaders. Edit - these are statements from the school not me.

Saw this online today - demanding he be fired, not because he is racist, but because he is not vocally anti-racist enough. On top of this they refused to hear the plan the school worked up for them because they are tired of meeting and it is not their job. Gotta love today's cancel culture. UNT is in my experience the most liberal/progressive school in Texas. I support the leadership of UNT

UNT Police Arrest Near Campus
xyresic replied to KRAM1's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
Never said the police did anything wrong. They were wanting to give him a break and followed the book. I think UNTPD does a great job. I think if you listen to the full statements he was supportive of the Police, while balancing things as best as can be done right now. I was disagreeing that they were thrown under the bus. I have a lot of insight into this and I will just leave it at that.
