Harrell will still coach in Sun Bowl
Silent Eagle replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
Well, if you look at your overall score, I'm pretty sure that the people who have a rep of zero are winning over you. -469 is not exactly what we're looking for in life. -
You don't have to tell me anything. Going from the morose attitude on the board to a sense of optimism based on exciting changes is actually pretty awesome. At least it's no longer peasant vs ivory tower verbal sparring.
-
Screw you for pissing on optimism. For once, it seems like we're doing the right thing from a hiring standpoint. The collective community needed something to get excited about. Let people get excited.

Harrell will still coach in Sun Bowl
Silent Eagle replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
Let him coach. No big deal. The ring will help. -
I highly doubt that there was any conscience with McCarney- I think he knew he was fleecing us.

Well, keep in mind that Boise made themselves notable in the WAC prior to going to Mountain West. I get it, we don't want to be left behind, but if we win and win consistently with some named opponents sprinkled in here and there, we'll get noticed without regard to our conference affiliation. I'm not patient in some capacities, but this is something that I will be patient with. If Littrell is who I think he is, we will be more competitive. If we are competitive, we will build. First you get the money, then you get the power, then you get the women (in this case, women will be conferences).

MGB Thursday afternoon football notes

I woke up 12 hours ahead on the clock on Friday morning AFG time to see this wonderful piece of news. It seems like we're literally tired of F%#king around and committing to success. Young, up and coming coaches that have tasted success before yet are still youthful enough to talk to recruits in the living room. I can't help but ask the question of where are we getting this money from? If the 17 are making this happen, good on them. I can't help but think this is kind of like when Mark Cuban bought the Mavericks and started changing things. Anyone else get that vibe?

SSHHHHHHH. We don't say these words. These words upset the 17.

Schools like Alabama, LSU, etc... have the luxury of a storied past and strong performance on the field to bring them attention as opposed to uniforms(exception being Texas the last few years). Remember, for the longest time, Oregon wasn't even an afterthought until Joey Harrington back in 99-03 was a Heisman guy. While they enjoyed an increase in visibility with their bowl games, the casual fan started paying more attention with the whole "what are they going to wear this week?" While I'm not a huge proponent of style over substance, we have a unique situation where we could really do a lot with a moniker like "Mean Green". If we can get the team to dramatically improve, adding more uniform panache would bring more attention. Remember the HOD bowl when commentators were blowing up the tweeter machines with accolades for the helmets?

Don't you know that it's not his fault? He provided the stadium, it's those lazy fans that didn't show up. It's never his fault.

I didn't know you were funny

Totally sounds like an RV hire.

DRC Monday column: UNT can't afford to miss on coach
Silent Eagle replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Again, RV is not meeting the most modest of expectations. Let's be 100% honest. At any point, has he gone out of his way to even remotely put together an atmosphere which is conducive to bringing fans in with excitement? Oh, I forgot, it's not his department. He isn't responsible for that. The stadium itself will bring people out. I went with some friends to a VA Tech game on Thursday night in Lane Stadium a few years ago. That was an experience. At some point RV has to understand that it can't just be a game, it has to be an event. I got chills when 64,000+ were chanting "let's go" "Hokies" alternating sides of the stadium, not to mention Enter Sandman and the fireworks. Intensity personified, and you could see just how intimidated the visiting team was dealing with the crowd. It won't be a home field advantage until he realizes he has to create that kind of atmosphere. We have the acoustics in our stadium to do it. If we can create something like that on a smaller scale, it would be something special. -
"We love Rick Villarreal" banner coming soon
Silent Eagle replied to UNT90's topic in Mean Green Football
Dude, we are on the same page on a lot of issues on this board. But seriously, the internet tough guy thing is getting old. If you're going to be too childish to engage in civil discourse and be a grown up about other viewpoints, I'm not sure you're old enough to be on the internet. I may not agree with a lot of what the supporters of Rick Villarreal are putting out, but it is their opinion. To sit there and start with the GTFO comments really doesn't add any gravitas to your statements. Being passionate about your view points is one thing, but be an adult about it. -
If you would like to learn more about Seth Littrell, click on the link, or possibly consult your local library (the more you know logo flying over my head at this time) http://www.goheels.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=3350&ATCLID=209385752 As you can see by reading his profile, he's the assistant head coach for offense, which means he is calling the plays. Additionally, he was responsible for the offense which kicked ass. If you reference his 2011 Arizona teams where he was either Co-Offensive coordinator and full coordinator, Gronk and Nick Foles, both NFL players, were putting up ridiculous numbers under his guidance. This guy is legit, and you're wrong. Seth Littrell Coaching Year-By-Year 2014-present - North Carolina Assistant Head Coach for Offense/Tight Ends 2012-13 - Indiana Offensive Coordinator/Tight Ends/Fullbacks 2011 - Arizona Offensive Coordinator/Tight Ends/H-Backs 2010 - Arizona Co-Offensive Coordinator/Running Backs/Tight Ends

Parrots remind me of Jimmy Buffett, and Jimmy Buffett makes me want to drink. I'm okay with that. Whomever -1'd me doesn't understand that USNA grads always get flack. Relax. Understand the military culture before you -1 someone. -
"We love Rick Villarreal" banner coming soon

Don't really care who flies it, whomever actually is thanking him is delusional. For what is he being thanked? What has he accomplished? Whomever is thanking him must be masochists. -

Counter banner with NT's revenue sports record over the past three years, how many coaches have been hired/fired during his time. I think we can put the money donated towards that. Find the time/flight path of it and immediately afterwards have it flown. -
Something Different - Navy Helmets for America's Game
Silent Eagle replied to UNTflyer's topic in Mean Green Football
It's set up to represent the naval vessel which coincides with the position- example given is linemen are amphibious assault ships, as LHA/LHD/LPD are the ships which projects ground force from the sea- linemen opening up holes for running backs, aircraft carrier since most command and control decisions are made from that location, etc... Ironically, the linemen getting amphibs on their helmet is actually appropriate, since the vast majority of those guys go Marine option. -

Yet another reason I'm glad I didn't go to Shipwreck Tech, and we always make fun of those in the Annapolis Yacht Club. -
I like his style. Hopefully his writing is an indication that student involvement/engagement at UNT is ready to explode. If we modernize and get on track quickly (sadly using JUCO to establish some initial success), we're looking at a revolution.

UNLV is a place that thrives on it's basketball program. He understands what a well supported and high visibility program does for a university. Whle he wasn't there during the prime Tarkanian days in the late 80s early 90s, but UNLV was a solid hoops school and the Thomas & Mack Center was the place to be in Vegas while he was there. I like the way he is doing things. I believe I was wrong about whether or not he was engaged with the pulse of the athletic department. I stand by my decision to support the banner and billboard, but I will admit that I underestimated his desire to see athletics succeed.
