  1. I don't buy it, nor do I think anyone should. Total cop out answer (or RV go-to response) to fiduciary conundrums is "let's sacrifice our health/dignity by becoming a dial-a-whore for big money programs". Look at the numbers in the DFW area. I'm not naïve enough to believe that 100% of the alumni base can be won over. But by harnessing even 50% initially through the AD genuinely caring beyond a number more than 15 but less than 20 donors, it's a start. If the AD does his job right and the team takes care of business on the field, the rest takes care of itself. We can ditch the whore protocol.
  2. Is he serious when he says scheduling improved? Our schedule has been absolutely garbage. 5 home games? No effort to try to bring teams outsiders recognize with which we can compete or win? We MUST take a page from Boise. They were once conference mates and have become nationally known. Win. Find name teams that are downtrodden and win. Once Baylor falls apart schedule and crush them. Casual fans won't know the difference. Bring in Colorado while they're down. Crush the cupcakes. It worked for Boise, it worked for Northern Illinois, hell it worked for Hawaii. We need someone who can capitalize on other team's misfortune and turn it into opportunity for us. RV did not have that vision. We need to use proven templates and we need a young hungry AD to do it. But to say that scheduling improved, Brett Vito is way off the mark.
  3. None of this is really surprising. It's Baylor. What does it take to get Baylor to become a powerhouse? It had to become a program that sacrificing morals to get wins. remember this is the same place that covered up murder.
  4. Absolutely no one from RV's reign of terror. I'm wondering what the ivory tower/wine and cheese crowd are thinking at this point. Do they try to flex and make this happen for some macabre sense of continuity?
  5. It's recognition. First step is forcing people who attend the games/watch the games to sit through UNT advertising. If we get some epic advertising put together, actually win a few games this year and show improvement, it could add to attendance.
  6. Sadly I'll still be in Japan for this game, otherwise I'd be all over this all important task.
  7. America was built on speed. Hot, nasty, badass speed. -Eleanor Roosevelt
  8. Whether or not they admit it, it is a game with regional implications. It's pretty much a must win on both ends-credibility gained/lost within the metroplex. The superiority complex won't allow them to say it's a rivalry, but they will show up, shit will be talked and feelings will be hurt. And it will carryover throughout the rest of the year.
  9. pretty pathetic. I get it, in Texas it's football or GTFO. However, at this point, we need wins in anything. It's 4 large. If RV cuts out jimmy johns for a month, he's able to pay for it. Regardless, I'll do what I can.
  10. Can we have those sent to chad morris? I will totally go in on it.
  11. I think we know that the solution is going to be based on the path of least resistance.
  12. Eh, I'm pretty stubborn. Id have to see it through.
  13. There's an easy way to fix ALL of this- go buy powerball tickets. I'm reading that a huge jackpot is on the way. We're like 6 numbers away from changing our fate. I've sent the wife to buy plenty and she said if we win, I can spend enough to outbid the 17 to fire whomever the hell I want. Who's coming with me?
  14. No, however I did win the lottery and need someone to claim it- I'll just need bank account info. I work/live in Japan until October, so I'm unable to take advantage of such offers for legitimate authentic jerseys, since the ones we sell for fans look like the same ones a 6th grade football team would wear.
  15. My offer still stands- I will paypal/wire transfer funds (whichever is your preferred method) for a green and a black linebacker/lineman jersey as well as shipping to an overseas base. Please help me out. I need this. Please, hook a brother up.
  16. Remember, it's not the bitching that goes on that should alarm anyone. "If a (insert military junior enlisted warrior military affiliation) isn't bitching, they're not happy- when they go quiet you should beware the incoming mutiny ". Vocalization of malaise is fine and shows people still give a damn.
  17. Can't- in Japan. Greek- you still have me covered for the jersey?
  18. Well, your statement can't really draw an argument. If the dude can't get the job done he needs to be gone.
  19. I feel a locked topic is in our future.
  20. So, fly, is it because we're not donating enough? Perhaps we dropped our donation money into the salt water.
  21. I'll take the bait. I tend to believe that if we win, people will come. Why? People in the DFW area have proven time and time again that they're front runners and love a winner. We start winning, we'll start getting the crowds, we'll start seeing merchandise, we'll start seeing more alums coming back. Remember when the Mavericks were irrelevant in the late 90s (I counted 917 butts in seats at one game my senior year of HS when we first drafted our beloved German) and all of a sudden boom, toughest ticket in town. Because of the wins. A kick ass game day experience helps, but the wins are what draw people out. Most of my angst from the current situation comes from the fact that I identify more with the athletic department than I do with my academic time at UNT. I am doing absolutely nothing with my degree, it was just simply a prerequisite to get to where I wanted. I joined the athletic association because I long for the day (albeit at a much smaller scale) when the level of pride at UNT matches that of my wife's azure and gold crowd.
  22. I'm waiting for the Willie Fritz part... I recommend 1) Big Willie Style or 2) Puttin' on the Fritz
  23. Ryan Munthe- old party school? At least in 98-02, it was STILL a party school. At least I had a kick ass time. I think. I don't really remember a lot of it.
