  1. I'm curious- have you always been this cynical or is this a new venture? Keep in mind- we have been on the same page for several issues, but getting this morose over a single statement seems over kill. yeah, I get it, words mean things, but do you want to come out and tell your basketball coach " I'm firing you at the end of the season unless you win the NCAA tournament." What kind of performance does that yield from your employee? He's going to show up and say "well, I guess it's about f@ck this $h!t o'clock" and put forth no effort. Where as, if he thinks he has a chance to maintain his job, he coaches his ass off, wins games, we get donors, and have the money to $hitcan his ass at the end of the season.
  2. speculating that he's taking the same approach every boss I've had takes- was there a problem with my predecessor that inhibited my subordinate's success? Are there resources I can push to get it done? Maybe I should see for myself what my influence can produce before making wholesale changes. You don't have to kill everything the minute you take over and I don't think he can do anything else to the basketball program. It's pretty much cratered right now.
  3. relax. He hasn't seen the problem. He needs to evaluate it on his own. Once he sees it in person, you'll get what you want/what we need.
  4. I think our level of commitment is about to be shoved down the naysayers throats.
  5. i guess one could take the better late than never approach; however imagine what would have been possible with even a borderline competent AD as opposed to RV. the fact that we've had to hit rock bottom for this to happen is retarded. A guy like this should have been hired years ago.
  6. Let's allow ourselves a quick hypothetical- WB comes in and turns around the MGC, rapidly increases numbers in donations, members and drastically increases attendance at stadium. He also pulls the trigger on Benford. He also raises enough money to buy out the bs schedule and work a much better one. If all this happens, will the apologists finally come out and say they've been wrong about the clown show that was the past 17 years or will they say RV laid the groundwork for WB's success.
  7. thats how you market a sellout.
  8. Outside of a large donation to the banner, yes.
  9. NTAlum09- nice positive attitude. You our have to talk to him- you miss 100% of the shots you don't take.
  10. Heart of Dallas watching in Coronado, Ca
  11. what we're seeing from people like Dunham is the old guard in its death throes. I wonder if he feels so strongly about his friend becoming ad that he'd walk away from the program. I don't want to see us lose any supporters, but at the same time if they're not part of the solution they're part of the problem. I'm wondering if anyone from the ivory tower/wine and cheese crowd was at the meeting silently supporting their chosen successor.
  12. I would be greatly entertained to see Fly and 90 (haven't seen fly since his mancrush left) to see it in the article with differing perspectives. I'm also emailing you.
  13. I hoe the meeting with dickenson was simply to provide perspective and not interview him as a candidate.
  14. What's the cost to cancel?
  15. Blowing shit up with aerial delivered munitions and artillery fire.
  16. "Pearson said he wants to consider his options"(paraphrased) Thanks, Vito. That's the kind of of insightful yet hard hitting reporting we expect from you. Next, why not report live from a cat fashion show? I'd rather read the NT Daily than this joke. Plus, he looks like a vampire.
  17. I suppose the contract supersedes the fact that Texas is an at will employment state. If not, game over. He's gone, the end justifies the means.
  18. Perhaps the work around for getting the money is to make the upgrades a joint venture between the athletic department and RTVF. I'm sure there are some RTVF majors that would like to venture into the sports broadcasting world, and this would be a phenomenal internship for them. Since these upgrades would be for the benefit of an educational department as well as the athletic department, it might be an easier pill to swallow for the check writers. I don't like that GTBGone guy- he seems like a tool.
  19. The nature of collegiate athletics forced universities' hands in ensuring that you had a CEO like individual to run the organization. It requires someone with vision, the ability to inspire, create a mission and a message that speaks to the customers- which in our case is the DFW metroplex. RV apparently had a vision, but he had a complete inability to articulate his mission and sell his message to that customer. Thus our current state. I'm not sold on us having to have one of our own as the AD. I think we need to hire one of Houston's minions. Given their current success (especially with the H-Town takeover campaign, which I absolutely love) I think they might be the template which we need to follow.
  20. I can tell you what I know from an Alabama obsessed dude I work with, Morris has the goods. The only knock on him was his arm strength according to the Tide lover. Apparently he was leading the competition for the starting spot as of 20150824 (http://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/report-alec-morris-now-leading-alabama-quarterback-competition/) He said he makes good decisions and is used to playing against one of the best defenses on pretty much a daily basis as the scout team quarterback. He believes that Morris could be an all C-USA quarterback. This is from a dude who lives and dies off of Alabama football.
  21. Simply by just having reasonably competent quarterback play I feel our offense will be vastly improved. We don't need our trigger man to go out and try to win the Heisman. It's all about precision and good decisions. Morris/Shanbour/new dude we just got from a JC just have to identify the match up which benefits us, make the decision and execute. It's not rocket science. OL just needs to hold long enough to get the ball to the open man. I feel like we've got some stallions at wide out. We will be okay.
  22. And we're watching Baylor go down the river...
  23. Regarding Wardly's response to my post, Rick is spot on. Expenses can be cut for travel and uniforms. Regarding the rest of it, we do have to continue to increase the student fee. If the students protest, go away. We don't need that crowd. We won't win them over anyway. As we improve and in the very near future become a winner, the students won't care. We can't worry about alienating the "Berkeley South" clique. It won't be an issue if we offer a game day experience, not an amateur hour half-assed effort that we're used to. Market, Market, Market! If we do that, the body bag games will become a non issue. RV fell back on the body bag games because he refused to do his job. And I can say that because I had to reach out and ask to donate money. People have to reach out to renew their season tickets.
