  1. If the opportunity presents itself, take a moment to talk to some of the cadets. I've found that West Point dudes are usually the most laid back of the academy types (Shipwreck Tech and Zoomie U being the more pompous of the two) and it usually makes for good conversation. These guys have dedicated themselves to a four year stay at a minimum security prison, so real, human interaction is something they appreciate. A number of my friends from training at Fort Sill changed my thoughts about USMA. Really chill cats.
  2. We do know ourselves. We know our colors. Roll with the new. Occasionally wearing black is really not that big of an issue. I know, it's hard to deal with change, and these new-fangled things like the facespace and the mybook and that crazy loud rock music, but this is part of college football. Occasionally, we're going to wear items that have black because the kids want multiple looks. We don't have the historical significance of Penn State or Abalama, so we can't pull off the two uniform choices and get away with it. I mean, if the damn hillbillies up in Tennessee are psyched out of their mind about the grey uniforms as opposed to running off to Knoxville to protest the lack of orange in the game days, I think we can elevate our thought.
  3. It's not human nature. It's a lack of discipline. Real World- you're not getting what you want? Work to get where you want to be. If you're not going to get it? 2 choices- be a grown up and fulfill your obligations or GTFO. But don't act like s douchebag if you're not getting your way.
  4. Let it go.
  5. What I am about to say should in no way, shape or form be construed as condoning a fan yelling at players and proceeding to be escorted out of the stadium... but players not buying into the system because "they're being sacrificed" is absolute bullshit. A player has certain responsibilities-they show up, maintain appropriate levels of engagement and give everything they have. Simply because you don't like the direction that's taken doesn't give you carte blanche to half-ass anything. Simply because I don't like the direction that a dude who recently assumes command of a senior unit and I'm on my way out to a new position doesn't mean I get to just mail it in because I'm not happy- it means I still show up like a grown up and do my job, because if I don't the mission fails. Regardless as to how far down on the depth chart some of these guys may be, they're still on the kill chain and need to act like it because their actions matter. Now, on the topic of a fan getting escorted out for chastising players- this is absolute asshattery. Coaches will take care of this, if not, the seniors who are in leadership positions will. It's not our job to discipline the players. We are there to support, regardless as to the means we chose, and provide an atmosphere. Simply because tickets are bought doesn't provide license to go off on a player on the sidelines. Furthermore, to congratulate people for such behavior is absolutely asinine.
  6. The fact that we had to move the student section is absolute BS. Part of college football is dealing with a hostile environment.
  7. He's getting experience. Important to the growth and development. Not tremendous, but all things considered, not too bad.
  8. YEAH! TAKE EVERYONE OUT BACK AND GIVE THEM THE OLD YELLER TREATMENT!
  9. Don't understand why the clamoring for giving Fine the hook- this time last year we were complaining that we weren't giving the underclassmen an attempt to build for the future, we pulled a dude who was NOT effective in the first week against SMU giving a true freshman the ball, and (here's a surprise) he sometimes plays like a true freshman. We have an offensive line that we knew from the beginning of the season was going to be problematic and (again, a real surprise) is being problematic. We knew there would be problems with depth due to the fact that we have far below the expected scholarship players. We have a coaching staff that is brand new in their positions trying to fit dudes who weren't recruited into the system to get productivity. Yes- this ended up being a really winnable game, and there shouldn't be any excuses for losing. Expectations are expectations and we want wins. However, be realistic. Fine didn't play great. Do we really think Morris would have done better with little to no protection or any semblance of a run game to keep everyone off balance?
  10. Agree with both. I get it, this is Harrell's first time calling plays and he's learning as he goes, but nonetheless, everything has cratered. No balance is really killing us.
  11. Yeah- So promising on the first drive. Disappointing the rest of the time.
  12. It sounds loud on the radio.
  13. I think once they see copious amounts of money flowing in from athletic related sources, the administration will have absolutely no reason to not go all in.
  14. I agree with the sentiment, however, I think it's emphatically clear that to this point, the funding is not there.
  15. Baseball can wait. Football and basketball have to be the priority. No one really cares about college baseball until cws.
  16. 1) I guess the dudes who vehemently supporting RV will never come back to the forums. 2) The banner was totally warranted. 3) I never want to see RV at a game again. It's absolutely atrocious we had SA who couldn't be furnished equipment. So much work to do.
  17. Mathematically accurate.
  18. No phallus logos on the helmet please.
  19. Agree- someone had to say it, though.
  20. Funny part is, I didn't recall seeing SMU on any of them.
  21. While it seems that Buyers is his security blanket, he seems to spread the ball around pretty well. I do want to see him find a connection (on the level Vizza to Fitzgerald) that we could have some fun with.
