Because 1. ONE. single draft pick is something to brag about? Sure. You can't argue that its still a pretty low bar

Despite the conference, they are out maneuvering us at the marketing and recruiting game by a pretty hefty margin. Except for McCasland. He's ours. No touching. Wrens PR game was absolute Fire the first few years when Seth was the new hot thing. Now, I have no idea. But it ain't that.

DRC: UNT depth chart projection following spring practice
Udomann replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
So, is it ok to start crying now, or is there a communal area where we can all do it together? Or do we just wait until Aune takes the field again? I'm open to whatever... -
Spoiler: It's 50% gonna be more than half of us bitching about Aune, and less than 50% of us complaining about the other half of Ruder. Sprinkle in a pinch of complaining why the younger guys aren't getting more interest and you have yourself an offseason. Bake until exhausted of posting.

(I'm also responsible for my fair share of them too)

To be fair, the day I wrote that comment was after seeing 4 threads in a row of people complaining that stuff didn't belong in the football forum, even if football related. Felt like a bunch of folks were policing things, so it annoyed me. I don't check anything but Football and Basketball, otherwise the content on here would be dead. and I like content. It gives me a reason to keep drinking.

Jace Ruder taking lead so far this spring
Udomann replied to Dannymacfan's topic in Mean Green Football
Points that everyone here can agree on. The leadership in that room from SL down has been non-existent since we lost Fine/Graham. Maybe someone does catch fire. I hope so. Either way, going to watch that ship sail or go down in flames every game! -
Jace Ruder taking lead so far this spring

Now, if Aune was an NFL level QB, I'd go with that. But he got benched for Aune, not Burrow. That's about as black and white as a players competency can get. -

This guy was riding pine at UNC well before he started warming it up here too. Sometimes a dud is a dud. -

AAC Charging Future Big 12 Schools $45 Million to Leave by 2023
Udomann replied to meangreen11's topic in Mean Green Football
And one of those coupon books sold by high school bands with a $2 off a slurpee coupon you totally intend to use, but is still sitting on top of your microwave 5 years later.- 17 replies

It's sad how true this is. I think everyone see's the writing on the wall, so they are promoting/shifting & placing folks wherever they can get the most experience before the swinging door hits their rears on the way out with SL. Wren is being smart (I think) in not investing a lot of money in folks who are going to to be canned as soon as they hire the replacement for Seth. So squeeze as many nephews and unexperienced QB coaches as you can get in at a good price while you can! SL really should have been booted at 1-6... but to quote our good and dearly missed friend, Meatloaf: "Objects in the rearview mirror may appear closer than they are"

Yes, that's exactly what I said. And I can't wait to read where I said that too! I love a good mystery.

He's certainly given more for the program than I ever will. When I get closer to his I can start judging better, I hope.

I am a purveyor of fine and curated internet content like yourself. Unlike you, I grew up watching mattress mack on TV from the proud city of Cut N' Shoot Texas ( look it up). So I rather enjoyed the piece on his association with UNT. I didn't know how much he had contributed, just knew he used to be a big booster

Grateful we have folks like you to police the forum content! Keep contributing that fine content sir, I look forward to the next edition of "why is this here", while myself wondering, "why is this here?"

It also doesn't solve the fact that there are maybe a dozen (plus or minus) FBS teams who will ever have a shot at a meaningful playoff run. UNT will never in the next hundred years "meaningfully" compete with Alabama. FCS seems to be more stable, with even some of the smallish schools (SFA as an example) have a shot at things. I doubt anyone here can argue that FBS isn't getting more boring, more dull, more predictable by the year. And less interesting. Until that's alleviated, no amount of bowl expansion can fix it.

Memphis predicted to defeat UNT in 2022
Udomann replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
My grandmother predicted to beat UNT 2022. Not sure how this is news. Or debatable.
