I like seeing AAC conf championship game listed on ESPN alongside Power 5 conf championship games, giveS me hope in the future UNT can be listed playing for conf championship- on ABC no less! GMG

Don’t agree Bennett’s defense was serviceable. I agree things have gotten worse, and didn’t think that would/could be the case.

If Deon and others can bring in massive players and j numbers from the transfer portal why can’t North Texas? The line of scrimmage was dominated by those bears yesterday. NT needs to leverage the transfer portal better. Poor effort…

Didn’t know UNT had big doners…not calling this team ‘Mean Green’ until they prove they deserve the moniker. North Texas was pushed around at the line of scrimmage and couldn’t convert on 3rd down…I read an article on ESPN that stated new head coaches have two rules they can use in transfers and recruiting, which helped Sanders and the Texas St. coach both bring into their programs dozens and dozens and dozens of new players…why didn’t North Texas do the same?

ESPN says the Mean Green have a 36% chance to win on Saturday. I noticed the game is at 3:00pm - it’ll be really uncomfortable, especially if players are used to Cali temps…how is the NT defensive line looking so far? The Mean Green defense, as I’ve said before, needs to get back to being Mean again. Perfect opportunity on Saturday. Basic but true, if North Texas can improve defensively at the line of scrimmage there seems to be an opportunity to beat Cal, better odds per ESPN than I would have thought…no pressure for new head coach and staff, go out there and have fun…a few turn overs go the Mean Green’s way and could be a game, flea flicker Statue of Liberty lateral kick return (and the ol NT kick-was-whistled-dead-wasn’t-it? kick return) and the swimsuit model place kicker - bring out all the stops…beat Cal! Who knew there was a football team in North Alabama?

Big 10 hasn’t won any CFB playoffs or National Championships since Ohio St in ‘18. Is the Big 10 really that big? With UCLA and whatever other college from CA joining, do they now make the Big 10 ‘Big’?

B12 should make that deal very B12 friendly. No way I’d let CU enter the deal without heavy penalties and fees for leaving early. With no exit fees to leave the Pac12 now, what’s the downside for CU? All in their favor…

Does Deon think that only he can coach his son? Does he now have to be a football coach, too? Can he coach? What’s the value of Colorado? The ESPN article mentions since leaving the Big 12 Colorado has had NO bowl wins and only two winning seasons since 2011…

I read two ESPN articles today - one about Eric Morris as a new young coach, and one about Auburn and the SEC West and J. Shorter - mention North Texas. The unsolicited publicity or recognition is there it seems (at least today). This defense needs to get back to being Mean. That would help. GMG

Need the defense and Caponi to earn the right to be called the Mean Green. Nothing mean about North Texas defense these last few seasons.

So how well do you think Caponi will do this season? Can he be the answer to the Mean Green’s defensive woes? Can they improve by half vs last season and if they do how well will the Mean Green do?

Seems to me whomever coaches my beloved Mean Green statistically North Texas football is .500 throughout its history. So with all these close games projected looks like the author has the same take. I really know nothing of Coach O. Beat Cal

Caught up with a BU grad during HS grad party yesterday and we talked about Baylor’s challenges in new B12 and their NIL collective. That’s the challenge UNT faces - the new NIL and $. I don’t know about y’all but North Texas was an affordable college option for myself vs other schools during my time. I didn’t come from much $. How does UNT’s collective stack up vs TX and other AAC schools? What’s your thoughts on the $ collective competition scenario the Mean Green are in?

Real question is how successful is our NIL collective group internally? Dykes’ describes some of the challenges in a recent ESPN article, and so does Kiffin…both talked about kids’ fluidity in and out of the roster and campus do to the portal …our collective will need to compete this season as well… GMG
