Sam Houston Players Enter Portal

Curt Cignetti brought 13 James Madison players with him and has Indiana in the playoffs in year 1 of his tenure. Of their 31 transfers, 24 were from G5 programs.- 17 replies

Sissoko was a transfer from Dayton so he was also recruited by a respected program. I didn't have an issue with Moulaye last year because he was in a new starting role but as of now, there's just not enough improvement at this point to justify giving him 20 minutes per game. I agree with the rest you said though. Nice gym for a high school team. That's a good team. Not upset we lost to them, annoyed with how we lost. It's almost always foul trouble and being outrebounded without making adjustments.
-
I didn't expect to win the AAC last year nor do I expect to win it this year. I did, however, think we were capable of winning the conference last year. We just fell short in so many games. This year looks like it'll be similar.
-
We promoted Hodge for continuity in hopes there'd be very little drop off. Going from back-to-back 25+ win seasons to 19 is an under achievement in my opinion. The current AAC is not leaps better than CUSA was in basketball outside of Memphis. Four of the top seven AAC teams last year were schools that came with us from CUSA and we were the lowest ranked of those four. I can give a pass for year 1 because Hodge was newly promoted but I'm expecting better for this year.
-
I think we'll finish with around 18 wins so no better than last season. I expected more progress from year 1 to year 2 of Hodge yet it seems like we'll underachieve this year like we did last year. The hole at center is glaring. I'm sure AAC coaches are taking notice.

Imagine getting in for the first time in a 4 point game with 20 seconds left because 4 guys gave fouled out. I like Hodge but his rotation style is a joke and will cost us games.

Missing an A Scott who can guard all 5 positions and missing a scorer who can take over. This is as average of a primary rotation as we've had recently. Not bad, just nobody stands out either.
-
It's too early to have one of the losses we should have won. It's just going to be an average year.
-
And about needing to give a bench player a chance, we're being outrebounded 30 to 18. We're going to get murdered by Memphis.
-
Don't care what the records say, there's no reason to lose this team. We're just playing like garbage and have nobody stepping. Just a roster full of role players. Maybe somebody on the bench should be given a shot? Or maybe we can just keep grinding, winning close games we should lose and losing close games we should win.

It can happen in Stillwater apparently

Love the tactic. "Take a pay cut so we can fire you or we'll fire you." -

Tulane is a disaster for those who aren't watching. This was the end of the first drive So basically three special teams turnovers. -
I'm certainly hopeful!

Tulane with a good kickoff return only to fumble it at the end of the run. Want to say the kicker forced the fumble. -

Army up 14-0. Tulane missed a FG on their second drive. -
I'm thinking we win by 10+ maybe even 15+. They started off very hot from 3 with at one point going 6/14. If that's their gameplan, we should blow them out in the second half unless they finish 50% from 3...

I am prepared to respect his decision.

OU's Jackson Arnold to enter transfer portal
GMG_Dallas replied to gangrene's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm not saying Arnold is better than CM, I just find it funny some are pointing to this season as evidence CM is better. When Chandler Morris committed here, most on this board pointed to his injuries and being benched by TCU to say he'd flop here. If Chandler Morris leaves UNT, who's to say Arnold can't come in and revive his career with our offense? Morris was very good this year but struggled against the better competiton. Arnold struggled against SEC competiton this year. He still finished with about 1800 yards of offense, 15 total TDs, and 3 interceptions including 131 rushing yards against Alabama. I think he'd do very well at UNT. -

Breaking: North Texas Makes Skyler Cassity Hiring Official
GMG_Dallas replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
You realize I'm comparing Temple's 2022 salary to our 2023 salary when Morris apparently took less to give his assistants more? If you want to compare apples to apples, in 2022 we paid Phil Bennett 325k, about 200k less than Temple paid their DC the same year. Drayton was in year 1 of his contract and made what SL made in year 6 of his plus they were paying a buyout for another coach bringing their total pay to football HC at $3.5 million for the year. The school has more money than we do. If Keeler really wanted Cassity, they could have paid more more than we could. I mean, they just fired a coach with an average salary of $2.5 million per year and in year 1 of Keeler are paying $300k more than we're paying Morris. Why is this so complicated? God forbid somebody ask questions and bring facts around here. I'm not upset my guy wasn't picked, I'm upset we're taking another chance at inexperience. You can have young talent on your staff but there needs to be a balance of experienced guys too. This is an important year. Make or break for Morris and us as fans. Either we have success, or he's a lame duck and we're looking at another 2-3 year rebuild with a new HC. Regarding JD, I have nothing against the guy. I don't know him. I'm sure he's a great man who means well. I'm just not going to buy everything somebody says without names to these sources. I'd like to know who said Temple tried to get Cassity but he wanted to come here instead. Knowing Morris' seat is likely heating up and Keeler will have at least 2 years in Temple before his heats up, does it really make sense for him to go where the seat is already warm? There's more to that story.- 222 replies

And my own inside sources? It's literally on Temple's website. Here: Temple University https://finance.temple.edu › F...PDF Officers and Top 200 Salaries.xlsx https://finance.temple.edu/finance/right-know Go down to "select salary information" and pick your year. For a PHD, you sure do little research. -
