I did karate at the little two story shopping strip right at that intersection. Was on the second floor until the guy sold and then I went to a place at Bachman lake. Was supposed to teach me respect and discipline or something.

Fair enough.

As a born and raised Dallasite who spent most of his childhood in the area of Midway and Walnut Hill, I can proudly tell you nobody in Dallas gives a damn about SMU.
-
Take off UT Dallas which is in Richardson and University of Dallas which is in Irving and add Dallas Baptist University and Paul Quinn College.

I agree with you on taking some football funding and using it for basketball. At some point, we'll need to pay our basketball coaches what they're worth, or as best as we can. McCasland was a home run. Hodge is looking like a home run as well. If/when he gets hired away, what are the odds of finding another cheap home run hire? Yes there's plenty of smaller D1 schools we could probably look at taking their coach but I'd like to maintain continuity with a guy like Hodge. Not trying to be negative and already talk about losing a guy midway through his first year. I just want him and his staff to be compensated appropriately based on their performance.

I'm not saying the game was terribly called but as others have pointed out, it doesn't take much to make an impact. In a close game like this, a single bad call can impact the game. With how physical these teams play, it's just incredible that a team can go an entire game committing only two shooting fouls and zero fouls when the other team is in the bonus. They must be the most disciplined group of college athletes to ever exist.

We had more pull up jumpers than them but they shot 6 more 3s than us. 26 of their 57 FG attempts were 3s while 20 of our 57 were 3s. Here's the shot chart below. I don't think we had a single trip to the line from being in the bonus. We were whistled for 17 total fouls to their 11. No loose ball fouls or anything called on them when they were in the bonus. Pretty insane IMO.

My only question about this game is how did we only get to shoot 4 free throws all game? Are they really that clean of defenders down low?

Eventually Johnell Davis needs to be slowed down!

Sissoko with active hands early.

Yeah I know that to be true for the promos. Wasn't sure about the actual game day photos.

When should we expect the starting lineup to be announced? Any word on Rubin Jones? One of the photos the basketball Twitter posted shows Christian Moore lacing up his shoes. Don't know if that's because Jones is out and Moore is expected to get minutes or if it's *just* a photo posted online.

QB commit - Chandler Morris - transfer from TCU
GMG_Dallas replied to DentonLurker's topic in Mean Green Football
Regarding starting QBs, USF had no set starting QB when Chad Morris was there. Two or three guys started at different points and as a result, they went 1-11. The home base thing is irrelevant in my opinion. If you consider DFW the home base, San Marcos is a 3 hour drive away. Not something you can easily do during football season. The starting job is his to lose at UNT. I don't think Texas State is all of a sudden on the radar because they hired his dad. Isn't his dad a wide receiver coach by trade anyways? What bearing would he have on the starting QB? -

Trivia question: Since Chandler Morris has been in college, his father has coached at Auburn, South Florida, and Clemson. Which of these schools did Chandler Morris attend while his father coached there? -
My focus is on this conference getting 3 bids and making deep runs so we get more tournament units. If FAU and Memphis lose in the conference tourney but get at-large bids, I want our AQ (hopefully us) to get a decent seed. No, we're not getting an at large barring the complete collapse of a good 5-10 bubble teams but our seed can still go up depending on our resume as the AQ, if we get it.
-
That's all fine but you never want your best win to turn into a bad win. I guarantee you not a single ACC team that beats Duke or UNC wants them to have a complete collapse and go on a big losing streak.

Should we storm the court if we defeat SMUt tonight?
GMG_Dallas replied to cousin oliver's topic in Mean Green Basketball
That has nothing to do with NET. Respectfully, educate yourself. -
If we get 6 games out of him, I'll be happy. It will give others time to learn the playbook and get experience. Better than the alternative which is throwing a green QB out there day 1 and hoping for the best.

You're the ranked 35 in the NCAA NET rankings, number 2 in our conference. -
Because SMU is our only Quad 2 win and if they jump into the top 30 in NET, last night will be a Quad 1 win.

UNT alum was doing play-by-play on ESPN2. You know he had to be excited. He got to do his exact college job on national TV. "While enrolled in the Honors College, Emrich worked three years for North Texas Television and KNTU-FM, broadcasting Denton ISD football and UNT men's basketball games." https://northtexan.unt.edu/issues/unt-alumnus-ted-emrich-fulfills-lifelong-goal-play-play-announcer

They mentioned it on TV but for those that didn't know...
