Tech Trying to Duck North Texas in 2027
GMG_Dallas replied to Green Lantern's topic in Mean Green Football
Exactly this. -
This game feels different.

Their football unis are great too.
-
Geeze that was an incredible defensive sequence by CJ and Rubin
-
Pretty sure we had a timeout left, too. Too much time on the clock for that to be the final shot.

QB commit - Chandler Morris - transfer from TCU
GMG_Dallas replied to DentonLurker's topic in Mean Green Football
You can love your father and still want to pave your own way separately. If Morris chooses to go into coaching after his playing days are over, he'll probably want to go on his own for a bit. You see it all the time in the NFL where teams are accused of nepotism in hiring practices. It took Kyle Shanahan years to get his own respect, for example. Harbaugh had nothing to prove when he hired is dad at UM. These guys are ultra competitive. If it were me, I'd want to go on my own to prove my worth. I'd hate to be labeled as a guy who only has a job because of who my dad is. -
QB commit - Chandler Morris - transfer from TCU

Really though, y'all really think Chandler Morris, a 20 something year old college graduate student, wants to follow daddy around all the time? I know I wouldn't. Going to TSU would be my last choice if I were him. -

He didn't go to USF either. -

Next game marks just about 1 month since his re-injury. I would like to see him sit until the ECU game on March 3rd. We have UTSA and Tulane next. I think we can afford to let him sit a bit longer. Hopefully it's enough rest to keep him healthy through the end of our season. I know Ross doesn't roll with 10 guys. The point in having Stone and Moore would be to give guys like Rubin and CJ good rest when possible. Handle business early in games, build a lead, and let them play limited minutes. We've been asking for a deeper pool of game-ready guys for that reason. Well now we have it.
-
When Noland and Rubin come back, we have a solid 8-9 man rotation depending on how much Stone plays and what he can get you. If Moore plays 4-5 minutes like he has lately, that's 10 guys in your rotation. Don't know what else you'd want. Yeah the start of the season is yet again another set of obstacles this team faced. When I look at the adversity this team had faced, I'm reminded that many championship teams across all sports can point to a series of road bumps they had to get over and that made them better along the way. This team will be fine. We just need to be patient.

Pretty crazy but here's the schedule with who missed the game: Wichita State - Buggs Tulane, Temple, and ECU - Rubin and Buggs out 3 straight games SMU - Rubin and Buggs return but Rubin goes down again FAU - Rubin is out UAB - Rubin out then Noland goes down USF, Tulsa, SMU #2, Memphis, UAB #2 - Rubin and Noland out for each. First SMU game is all we got with a full team and we didn't make it out healthy. We've led big in almost every single game we've played, except Charlotte and UAB #2. This team, if healthy, would be a top 3 seed. Guarantee nobody wants to play this squad in March if healthy.
-
We take a deep breath and relax. We've played one single game with everybody healthy since conference play started and we didn't even finish that game healthy. Every team is built differently and will have some mismatches. UAB has been tough for us for years. This team, if healthy, will contend for the conference tournament championship.
-
Shooters can get hot at any time. He can't stop shooting just because he's down.
-
The homer announcers questioning the legitimacy of UAB fouls is laughable considering we've been whistled for 13 fouls to their 8 and they've shot 19 free throws to our 5.
-
Game is not over. There's always one last run and we haven't had ours yet.

What would be your move with Rubin?
GMG_Dallas replied to greenminer's topic in Mean Green Basketball
Even if he's 100% in his first game, he should not get the normal load of playtime. The ideal would be to have him play 10-15 minutes his first couple games to get his body back into game shape. Don't want to him to get hurt again right before the postseason. Edit to add, if the season ended today, we'd play Tulsa in round 1. Limit Haggerty and they have no other offense. No purpose in pushing Jones to a full load of minutes when he comes back. Get him going with 10-15 minutes per game and ramp it up to about 20-25 in that first postseason game, then unleash him should we win that first game. -
NIT Bracketology (2/16/24)
GMG_Dallas replied to Glory to the Green's topic in Mean Green Basketball
In that bracket, there's a path for us to get revenge against LSU and St John's or face Kansas State. Xavier with Abou would be on the table as well if all those teams make deep runs. Would make for very exciting basketball even though I'd prefer to get the big dance AQ. -
Last night seemed "Big-Time" to me

He just hasn't put his tires on it yet. -
Rondel dagger??
-
I feel like this far too often.
-
Consistently missing this many layups and 3 foot bunnies is infuriating.
-
For those at the game, Hodge just said in a pregame interview that both Rubin and Noland are getting close to return although they won't be back tonight.
-
Hodge just said they're both getting close.

Same for Hulu. My wife laughs because we "cut the cord" only to have to subscribe to a bunch of services to get what we used to have under a single service. Paramount Plus is pretty good though for Champions League and Europa League. As a DFW sports fan, Bally's is where I drew the line so I'm just hoping a better alternative comes up because I've been missing out on all of that content.
