  1. He has the toughness and a great head on his shoulders to do some good things here. With more talent in the receiving corps and O-line this year would have been much better for him but we can't let his "All C-USA freshman QB" accomplishment cloud our judgement with the QB position and think we have the guy. Time will tell but let's not throw out this accolade as any kind of indication of Littrell's recruiting abilities just yet.
  2. I think you're right but on the other hand Kiffin doesn't make much sense to me. He's not the up-and-coming coach. He's been a HC and USC got progressively worst under his leadership. Art Briles, Sumlin, Levine, and Herman had never been head coaches before UH and 3 of those 4 moved on to bigger programs. I'm just not sure Kiffin fits the bill and I don't understand why they would take a chance at a guy who's already shown he can't handle being a HC. For this very reason, I hope they hire Kiffin.
  3. THANK YOU! I was about to say the same. EDIT: I looked through all CUSA QB starters and none were freshman.
  4. I've seen plenty of reports today from ESPN and others saying they haven't offered a job yet and that UH is meeting soon to discuss the finances of their next hire. I'll believe it when it's official.
  5. Good news is OU and OSU currently have 21 commits per 247 and we are quickly approaching NSD. However many spots they have left are sure to fill up quick. He doesn't have long to commit to either one. Where I'm worried is TCU who sits with 9 commitments right now. They have plenty of room for him. Kansas State has 16 so several open spots as well.
  6. The NCAA allows $550 in gifts per participant. A gift suite is an event where each participant can fill out an order form selecting gifts that are at the event not to exceed that $550 limit and then they receive those gifts. Although I would assume any additional gifts such as the Amazon Echo dot our guys are getting would count towards that $550 limit. I'm not sure though.
  7. Boca Raton Bowl: Memphis vs. Western Kentucky Best gifts: Gift suite NO BACKPACKS FOR YOU. Last on the list goes to our conference champs. Glad our guys are getting some decent gifts for making a bowl game.
  8. Per The Ticket, he picked Baylor over Oregon. Baylor did give him a 7 year deal though and he'll be given time to turn it around. Odd...
  9. I mean Littrell has been at Indiana, Arizona, and UNC. Not exactly football powerhouses and huge destinations for football players. It has nothing to do with being at P5s before. Frank Wilson of UTSA was at one of the top programs in the country in LSU and he seems to be doing just fine recruiting to a G5. I think our guys are either just getting beat because they aren't as good or they aren't focused 100% on it yet. I guess we'll see. Regardless they need to up the tempo.
  10. Turnovers 5 and 6 came pretty late in the game if I'm not mistaken. At that point, it was bend don't break. Take risks to get the ball back knowing we were in position to take chances and they needed to do the same if they had a chance of getting back in the game. If we have a big lead midway through the 3rd, this game should be a win as they don't have the firepower to come back so they will need to take chances at which point we should have the advantage.
  11. I'm sorry. I should have stopped posting when I got to 50 downvotes. Now I know.
  12. He played well, but you're right. C-USA was loaded at RB this year. Hopefully Wilson can stay healthy next year and lead the pack.
  13. We had 7 honorable mentions. Interesting that Jeff Wilson is nowhere on the list.
  14. Teams like Army and Navy aren't playing to get 10 yards in 3 downs. They try put themselves in a position to go for it on 4th each time. They hate to punt, although they will if they have to, but they want to eat clock while consistently getting 3 to 4 yards on a carry. Where they can be dangerous is if they get to 3rd and short, that opens up the playbook to occasionally pass the ball and do damage that way knowing that if they don't get the reception and first down, they still have fourth and short which they're ok with. That's what makes them so hard to defend. You have to stop them 4 straight downs with no penalties each time they have the ball. EDIT: Army is tied for 9th in the country for 4th down attempts this year. They converted 51.6% of the time. They also converted on 44.8% of their third down attempts, that number being 29th in the country. Tough to stop when they consistently get yards.
  15. Good for you. You can get free tickets as a first responder and if you have the day off or can easily get it, why not go? I sent the information to get free tickets to my brother and hope that he'll share it with his co-workers. The more who go the better. I have one day paid vacation and no sick days left for the remainder of the year. Wouldn't make sense for me to go and a match-up against Army isn't what's going to make me change my mind. Now get over it.
  16. I read it the way you did too. Maybe some combination of both. A lot of students drop out of college early and tag on the time commitment of playing D1 athletics (practices, camps, travel, etc...), they need to be rewarded for having a high retention rate. Including GPA into the equation would be good too, though.
  17. This is underrated. Everybody has their reasons to go to college and play football. While some have NFL aspirations, some view it as a way to dig their family out of where they grew up (go to college, get a degree, get a good job, help you parents). For those who are just looking for a solid education and everything else is gravy, the reason for us bowling is what's most important. I remember reading about Goree and Rutherford and how important it was for them to get out of East Texas, where heroin rules. They needed to get out to save themselves and hopefully save their family. Obviously, it hasn't worked out for Goree, but it's important to many recruits who grew up like them.
  18. I hope UNT finds success. I hope Littrell is who we want him to be. My optimism has slowly dwindled throughout the year. Like you said, not because we lost but because we lost BAD. We made strides at the beginning of the year on the field and in recruiting but both have simmered down while other programs in our position have continued to better themselves. I'm nervous about the future. My outlook has quickly changed. I'm usually very optimistic but February is around the corner and I'm concerned. Coach Littrell, please prove me wrong.
  19. I don't need anything. I just find it hilarious that just a few short years ago the posters on this very board were all talking trash to those who didn't support Dan Mac and then as soon as the narrative shifted for a few popular posters who were starting to doubt Dan Mac, everybody started agreeing that he should be ousted. Mob mentality on here and there's more followers than leaders. We're doing it again, by the way. Won't name any names, but somebody on here has been trying to get a family friend some looks and everybody tells him to trust in the staff and that they know what they're doing, but as soon as somebody with a title implying they're a "recruiting expert" says we should be concerned about our recruiting, everybody jumps on ship with him and starts questioning our recruiting class standings. Edit: This is not a shot at those recruiting experts but rather at those who follow. Most of those who frequently post in the recruiting forum know their stuff and I respect their opinions as I know very little about recruiting.
  20. I express my opinion and am called an attention seeker. I'll play your game and say some only agree with the popular beliefs on this forum to get some much needed affirmation as they fear rejection. It's probably not true but neither is your statement of needing attention. We don't agree, and that's fine, but don't belittle me for due to my opinions. I'll use this as an opportunity to mention a ranking I read that had us at 37 of 40. Good! Better than dead last. Their first reason for this match-up not being ranked higher is that we already played on October 22. Guess they aren't paying attention, right?
  21. Didn't know that but thank you for informing me. I retract my previous statement.
  22. South Alabama qualified as a fill-in (per ABC and Fox) and there were 5 such fill-ins. There's no reason why UNT had to be matched-up against the one fill-in team they had already played. I understand Air Force and Army would have been a swap and I didn't look at that previously, there were still 5 total "fill-in" teams who were able to qualify because there weren't enough traditionally bowl eligible teams.
  23. Last post because I'm tired of this. South Alabama was below us in the pecking order despite finishing 6-6 because they have multiple wins against FCS schools and are only supposed to count one. They will be playing 9-3 Air Force in Arizona. They could have just as easily sent Air Force to Dallas to play us and Army to Arizona to play South Alabama.
  24. This is true. Some fans are ok with it, some fans aren't. For the casual fan though, there shouldn't be a financial comparison in spending $10 to sit at AT&T stadium to watch the Cotton Bowl classic and spending $50 or $75 watch UNT play Army regardless of where you're sitting. Edit: poorly phrased sentence, I know. At work and shouldn't even be on here.
