  1. This can happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime. TCU had a huge drug scandal back in 2010 or 2011 and that certainly didn't hinder recruiting so I don't see why this will.
  2. I don't think he's as divided in the two as you seem to think, if he cared that much about baseball, I don't think he would have went to college. I mean, he was projected as a top baseball pick, wasn't he? What could going to college really do more for him if baseball was the route he wanted to go? I think if he and his dad had it their way, he would be playing qb in the NFL until he's in his 30s. He wants to be the star. Being a starting qb in the nfl is as big as it gets in this country - there's only 32 others with your job title. I think that's what he's trying to do.
  3. what's important to remember is who the hire is in regards to the program. A few years ago we would have had no business making a strong hire like this. There were worst hires to make but not many better ones who would have come here. They graded Littrell a B but said in the first line its a great hire for a program lIke ours. In other words, don't be such a Debbie downer.
  4. I guess it depends on how serious he is about baseball and/or how serious he is about getting an education. Interesting situation nonetheless.
  5. That's what I thought Billy. So him going to TCU is not an irrational thought. Just trying to put that thought out there. So if he goes somewhere for baseball and football, how does that work in regards to eligibility? Can he play baseball right away for 3-4 years and then still have his year or two left of football after sitting out of football for 2 years?
  6. Not that we would land him in our current state, but if we had a good baseball program, it would help land dual-sport athletes who also play baseball. Agree 100%. I'm just saying it's one of many example why it would help. What's the timeline of things? Does Kyler Murray have to sit out a year? Does he still have a redshirt year?
  7. My guess is he goes to TCU. Perfect fit. This is where not having a baseball program really hurts us...
  8. Nikola Stojilkovic is playing in France's lower divisions (N2 is most likely National 2, if it follows the soccer structure, the "National" division is division 3 so he would be in division 4 but I'm not sure). He's bounced around a bit but he's with WOSB (Wassellone Otterswiller Saverne Basket). He's number 10 in the photo for those who don't remember him.
  9. Watch his Hudle Highlights - he most definitely does not have club hands. Probably jazz hands. Read in a few places that Texas was interested in him as a DB and Colorado State also offered as a RB. Better coaching from an ex-RB coach and ex-FB in Seth Littrell can probably help fix some of those things. He's only played football for a few years. Good to know that if he doesn't pan out as an RB, he could make in impact in the secondary.
  10. The most important change in regards to this season's recruiting is for us to actually start having some official visits...
  11. Really exciting stuff. Hopefully he'll keep the strong connections he made on the east coast and we can see some good recruits from that side of the land come over.
  12. I hope he was our first choice. Mac was a somewhat proven headcoach who had won in a difficult place and that didn't help. We got a proven offensive mind who will attract solid recruits. This is a good thing.
  13. Coordinator at a P5 is not the same as coordinator at one of THE P5s that matter like LSU. Either job can be seen as a promotion.
  14. I was about to say this. The two FCS wins might cost them a chance at the college football playoffs, but it for sure helped them get in the conversation. If those were two games against a G5 and a low tier P5, they might not have won both games and you might currently be looking at a 10-2 team with no shot at the playoffs and Littrell might not look as attractive as a HC. Lots of speculation. At the end of the day, you win the games you play. And to the person who said OU beat 5 top 25 teams, no. OU beat 2 teams who were ranked in the top 25 when they played them and who are now unranked. Other than that, OU played 3 top 25 teams who will not even garner consideration for the playoffs. If UNC beats #1 unbeaten Clemson, that win should mean more than any of OUs wins.
  15. Do you have any connection to the Florida gators nation championships from the late 2000s and do you have any connection to Iowa?
  16. "Texas Women's University." - Meachum
  17. Would be nice but I don't know how much it really means in basketball. Remember UNT beat texas a&m by 20 2 years ago and it was an average year for us.
  18. How does losing an experienced back in Byrd and adding Wilson and Evans add up to being "virtually the same RBs"? Even with Wilson being more talented (in my opinion), experience plays a factor especially in pass protection. Besides, I never said you could sit in the pocket with some coffee and a good book if you have the best O-Line, I said it's a mutual relationship between the three parts of the offense.
  19. Stahhhppppp! The O-line was great in 2013 and it wasn't because of D Thompson. According to cfbstats.com (http://www.cfbstats.com/2013/leader/national/team/defense/split01/category20/sort01.html) they were number 1 in least sacks allowed in 2012 and number 6 in 2013. We had big, seasoned O-linemen with chemistry. D Thompson was good by UNT standards but he wasn't some elite world class QB. I watched almost all of his games from the day I set foot at UNT and he missed a lot of short passes or put our guys in bad positions to catch passes (high throws leaving guys open to get leveled) even in 2013. Don't attribute the success of our O-line solely to Thompson. It's a mutual relationship between QB, O-Line and RB and I believe the O-Line is actually what made Thompson and our RBs what they were back in 2013. Put that O-Line with who we have now and we are running for 250+ yards per game as a team.
  20. Free tickets and parking to the first 10,000 who show up. Period. Movie theaters don't make most of their money from ticket sales, they make them from the concession stands. Get people in the stadium and hope they buy enough food/drinks to make up for the ticket sales. If anything, you at least had a better showing and game-day atmosphere for the graduating seniors.
  21. Does anybody know why Everett Withers has moved around so much? We want somebody with experience but he seems to play hot potato when it comes to where he wants to be. Per Wikipedia: 1988–1989Austin Peay (DC)1990Austin Peay (ST/WR)1991Tulane (assistant)1992–1993Southern Miss (assistant)1994New Orleans Saints (assistant)1995–1997Louisville (DC)1998–2000Texas (assistant)2001–2006Tennessee Titans (assistant)2007Minnesota (DC)2008–2010North Carolina (DC)2011North Carolina2012–2013Ohio State (DC)2014–presentJames MadisonHis longest run somewhere was with the Titans as defensive back coach. Not many of his new jobs have really been promotions from the one(s) held before. For example, he was with the Saints for a year to then go to Louisville as defensive coordinator to then be a defensive backs coach at Texas. Defensive backs coach with the Titans to then be U Minnesota's DC for a year. It's a lot of hopping around. We want somebody to view us a stepping stone, but it doesn't look like he's ever really used any program as a stepping stone. In addition, he has a 23-12 HC record. Pretty good! But most of that is in the FCS. I feel like he doesn't have enough HC experience to make that even worth mentioning and this year marks the first time he has been HC at a program for 2 consecutive years...
  22. Although I am most intrigued by the positives Briles offers, I think Mike Norvell would be the best hire. Norvell has the best experience of the two having coached at Central Arkansas, Tulsa, and Pitt. Briles coming here would be the first time he doesn't have his dad around in the coaching world, almost like a kid moving to college after high school. It's a big change.
  23. Excuse me if this has already been answered, but in his 30 years of coaching, why hasn't Chico been given a chance at HC job somewhere? I am really trying to find reasons to like him as our next HC but I just can't agree with the move if it were to happen. If he were that good, he would be somewhere else by now. This is a response to all of those saying give him a shot. Unless we win out the rest of the year (except the Tennessee game) I just don't see a reason why you give him a chance at HC.
  24. Although I do fully respect those who donated to the campaign and fully support the initiative, I just don't think holding $2,000 until RV is fired will make those in charge think to buyout RV's contract at $300k per year for $2k. It is a great idea though. Maybe start a fund with those $2,000 dedicated to hostage money.Throughout the course of the year, it may actually become a substantial amount of money and have some power.
  25. Yes, why devalue an offer by handing them out to P5 prospects in the area? Because our offers currently have so much value, we shouldn't dare devalue them. "You miss 100% of the shots you don't take." - Wayne Gretzky. I didn't say hand them out to everybody, I just said those in the area. Those who might want to play closer to home. Those who might have ties to UNT or Denton.
