  1. Love the optimisim but unless he's just that incredible, I hope he doesn't start this year unless we have an injury riddled season because that will mean Morris and Smith will have been complete failures and we would be in for another horrendous year.
  2. Feel like we would be better off not offering next year unless he's much improved. He would already be 20 years old as a freshman. Plus, if he really wanted to be here, he would have signed yesterday. I don't want to be a fall back plan anymore unless the talent is incredible and it's clear he was not sold on unt.
  3. Pshh let him decommit. This is ridiculous. If you can't understand sarcasm then I'm sorry but everything was said in a joking manner. If this comment board is what he will base his decision on regarding where he will spend the next 4 to 6 years of his life then so be it. Welcome to the adult world. It's a going to be a bumpy ride if you let these kinds of comments dictate such a huge decision in your life. Congrats on going to Stanford to study electrical engineering. Unfortunately, that won't be enough to get you through life if you're that sensitive and insecure.
  4. If we need a return man with Tre Johnson gone, you'll see Tyler Wilson on the field maybe from day 1.
  5. If he gets it at the start of the fall semester, it will count towards next year if I'm not mistaken. This what everybody was saying would happen for Fine making him a "blueshirt" player. I guess it would depend on when he earns the scholafship.
  6. Sure hope so. Glad Johnson is in but I was hoping for some movement/surprises throughout the day. Guess things can still happen so let's see...
  7. Sigh of relief in this meeting was awkward but worth it...
  8. Any news with some of our targets/guys that have been mentioned on this board? William Johnson, Bain? Any news about potential late commits that have yet to sign. Everything seems so quick since the original flooding of signees early this morning...
  9. Being called a steal on Twitter.
  10. https://twitter.com/MeanGreenFB/status/694878754154217472?s=09 Can't figure out how to link from my phone...
  11. Don't like all the moving but what it does show is how quickly he can learn a playbook and that's all on him. Three coaches and three systems in three years is not easy to work through and he made it happen...
  12. The staff won't be happy with 3 wins. That's what you're not getting. This staff actually has expectations, get used to it.
  13. Depends. If we only sign 15 to 20 total guys with 10 or so being JuCo plus English and Morris we should be good as long as next year is high school heavy with the extra 5 to 10 scholarships. It's not like we are just throwing away spots...
  14. 100% agree most coaches don't have to gamble on fall jucos. Unfortunately this may be the best option for us at this point in time. High school recruits won't help us next year and we wouldn't get enough quality guys to fill up the class anyways. We're getting plenty of guys with more experience who should be bigger, faster, stronger than your average high school recruit. Basically this is the staff saying we are going to win early or we're going to go down HARD. It's a huge gamble but at least they are all in. They buy into their plan and that gives me hope for the next two or three years. We just need to hope these guys provide immediate success (around 6 wins) and that come next spring we are signing a class of 30 solid recruits.
  15. The scary thing about signing recruits out of high school is you never know if they will transfer within the first year or two, have behavior issues and get dismissed, have eligibility issues and go juco, or just not pan out long term. Recruits are all gambles no matter what. Getting a player to stick around long enough to see the field is already a challenge. If coaches had your mindset, college sports wouldn't exist.
  16. Hope he lights it up and proves every d1 coach wrong about his abilities.
  17. I mean, New Mexico had a pretty decent year finishing 7-6 and played Arizona very well in the bowl game (lost 45-37). For anybody who didn't watch that game, they have a very explosive running game running some kind of option football with three athletes in a straight line behind the QB. Rushed for 42 TDs and almost 3300 yards last year. Honestly can't fault him for going there. They seem to be doing some good things and their QB was only a sophomore (ran in 3 TDs against Arizona and threw for another). Key win last year against Boise State too.
  18. Thank you Billy. I definitely see your point that we just don't have a cusa level qb for 2017 and he might be one. Between him and fine, I'm confident we'll have a qb of the future if we land both. Personally, my favorite thing about both is that they can evade pressure and make some plays with their legs and they seem like very high character guys. Also both seem very smart and like leaders. Love that. You can tell our coaching staff is not just going to go after the best talent but also after the best overall athletes with great heads on their shoulders. These don't seem like the kind of guys who will easily give up.
  19. He has an Indiana offer and a Virginia tech offer. Yes that's two. But I'm not counting the Indiana offer because it's from littrell so you take one away which leaves 1 legitimate non-littrell p5 offer. Good Lord... Had it not been repeatedly stated that the Indiana offer might not even be on the table anymore since littrell is not there anymore?
  20. Which is the one p5 offer. I'm not counting the Indiana offer.
  21. Are we putting too much stock in his 1 p5 offer or does he really look like an under the radar gem? And I say one because the Indiana offer came from littrell. Worries me that he doesn't have more attention and quite frankly is unrated by ESPN. I guess the real question is, other than size, is he any other better than fine for instance? Because he certainly isn't much more advertised and I feel like that's the feeling around here. Please feel free to make me look like a fool.
  22. What they really should do is find a player who played a similar position. Brian waters would have made more sense in this case. Yes, older but had a great nfl career. Maybe put all the years he was a pro bowler. Johnny quinn makes no sense for this guy. For rbs, TEs, and WRs you have dunbar and olawale. On defense you get zo and Robertson and some others. Relate to their positions. And unless the player was a legend, nobody who player past 2000.
  23. Wasn't Trevor Moore put on scholarship right out of high school a couple of years ago? My thought is that if he can be a legitimate punter AND kicker, he could be worth a scholarship right off the bat... 2 for 1, right? Saves a scholarship AND a roster spot.
  24. Utah State on December 15th
