  1. Was wondering the same thing. We don't exactly have the best reputation so what do you expect opposing team's writers to say? They would get killed if they said we would win considering our recent history. Once we show consistent success, you might see this change.
  2. True. If he's unable to play next year because of it, is he eligible for a medical redshirt? To my knowledge, you can only obtain a medical redshirt for the season the injury occurred in but I only know so little...
  3. I desperately want Fine to succeed and believe he's done great so far for a true freshman considering the position we were in after last season. The most telling stat is the amount of interceptions. Hopefully he has a breakout game before the end of the season. Not asking for him to throw for 300+ yards but it would be nice to see him get multiple touchdown passes while completing closer to 60% of his passes in one game. I agree though, if Murray is better for the run game, keep him in as long as Wilson is playing and beyond if we still depend heavily on the run game post-Wilson era.
  4. Really makes you wonder what kind of role Murray will have moving forward after this season as we try to move towards passing the ball more. It's not a big deal right now since our biggest threat is #26 but once we get better pass blocking O-linemen and more talented receivers (hopefully signing day won't disappoint!), I wonder if Murray will still be a starter. I've also been thinking that Fine might not be the starter next year in favor of Devlin Isadore if he can recover quickly from his injury. He'll be here in the spring so he'll have plenty of time to earn the starting job and has played JUCO so it's not like he's as far back as a true freshman from a small OK school. at 6 foot 4, it doesn't seem like Murray is as much of an obstacle although I do realize that 6 foot 9 is still huge. It's obvious that you're more football savvy than most here. What do you think about those two spots next year? If Devlin can show he can start next Fall, is it more of a risk to break in a new starting LG or a new QB? Isadore is talented and was garnering attention prior to his injury. I'm not turning my back on Fine, just wondering what his role is beyond this year with more QBs coming in considering where we stand at OL.
  5. How many students are expected to go? It would be nice to know about many total UNT fans will be there
  6. Their board says they're expect 25 to 30 recruits. How great will it be If those 25 to 30 recruits show up to see 2 to 3 thousand in green plus the band.
  7. I just read about that on the UTSA fan board. Wonder what the number of tickets is...
  8. Per a member of the UTSA fan board, we've sold out our ticket allotment for the game. Anybody know what that allotment number is?
  9. Yeah I just don't remember that many fumbles... I remember 2 or 3 fumbles that were overturned as fumbles (knee was down, etc...) but I don't remember them fumbling the ball 7 times. I'm sure some of those are just botched pitches and not necessarily caused by the defense. The botched snap on the punting play is one... To be clear, I'm not wanting to argue the amount of fumbles, I was mostly curious as to why the amount fumbles were mentioned but not the amount of picks so I though Brett Vito had made a mistake.
  10. Glad to hear that! I was going off of the description in the initial post that says he's being recruited by Mainord and Falani.
  11. Gotcha! I thought about that, just didn't think to check the box score on ESPN. It just seems odd to say they turned it over seven times and fumbled seven times. Makes it seem like they lost all seven of their fumbles and that was it. I even watched the game but didn't realize they had that many total fumbles!
  12. " The Mean Green forced seven turnovers on a cold and rainy day. The Black Knights fumbled the ball seven times." Didn't Army fumble only three times and not seven?
  13. Per this article, he was visiting other schools while he was committed to Iowa and it rubbed the coaches off the wrong way. They expect their commits to stop looking elsewhere and he didn't so the relationship between he and their staff has weakened.
  14. Littrell is from Muskogee. Don't know why he's not the one recruiting him.
  15. In 20 years, we'll all tell stories about when THE University of North Texas cracked two random college football sites' top 80 #rankings. (sarcasm) Let's keep it going by crushing the birds!
  16. Great article. I'm excited to see Fine play in a Dome against a middle of the pack pass defense. I think we'll learn a lot about Fine this game since defenses know they need to stop Wilson to win and playing in a dome, weather will not be a factor. Hopefully he gives us the performance we all believe is capable of pulling off!
  17. This would be lovely and I don't get why we are throwing a fit over it. UTSA has all of their games televised locally. Depending on ratings that may not happen again next year for them but I don't know their TV deal. This was a big year and they just haven't been very good. If we can get most of our games televised locally, our staff will need to make D*mn sure we're good that year so we can get enough people tuning in to justify it for the next year. If UTSA can get done we should be able to as well.
  18. It probably did. The reason I bring it up though is because he never went to class. I don't know if he intended to call himself out or if he's just that dumb but he admitted to never going to class. We know about North Carolina's basketball team as well (regarding the integrity of their student-athletes academics). Syracuse did something similar if I'm not mistaken as did Oklahoma State. And those are the ones that have been caught in the past 5 years. My point in bringing that up is that a significant amount of the "student athletes" who play for the consistently top 20 football and basketball programs have no intentions of graduating to lead careers outside of sports. Their post college days they're either playing oversees if they played college basketball or coaching middle school, high school, or college teams.
  19. Unfortunately, for too many of the major P5 players, it's NFL or bust be it through the draft or UFA. They want to be paid so pay them but don't let them get the free education, etc... Ben Simmons (basketball player from LSU) recently "shut up" a critic on Twitter who said Ben failed every class he was in at LSU by saying he never went to class which is why he failed. They could fill their own league of 20-30 teams and the rest of the country can play college football. I only say 20-30 teams because most P5s would probably be alienated at that point as well. You can probable take the 20 teams that pay their coaches the most from this list http://sports.usatoday.com/ncaa/salaries/ and create a league. I doubt the rest of the P5s would bring in enough revenue from college football alone to be able to to pay their players. Add in basketball schools and have them be semi-pro as well, you probably find a more defined P5/G5 split.
  20. I wonder how much stronger this lady's laswuit will get when all of the UTSA students/alum join her. http://fortune.com/2016/10/24/kfc-lawsuit/ Headline: Woman Sues KFC for $20 Million After Not Getting Enough Chicken
  21. Last time we had a d lineman carry chains around his neck he went West to Lubbock after a year and a coaching change. This guy isn't planning the same, is he?
  22. I'm probably wrong, but I don't think TV ratings will be driven by the C-USA team playing in this game. That will most likely be determined by with B10 team plays in the HOD although, if you are looking at TV ratings, I find it hard to believe North Texas, with its huge alumni base and being in one of the largest markets in the country, wouldn't pull better ratings than any other C-USA teams on a consistent basis. If UNT is playing the HOD against a B10 team, I wouldn't be surprised if the count of green shirts in the stands was around 30k but many Dallas area folk as well as Mean Green fans following on their TVs as a way to check out UNT football without spending anything. From a date/time standpoint, I imagine most of the fans in the stands for UNT will be students and new alumni. Should still be a good turnout if we can make it there considering how large this school is.
  23. Working in the employer benefits world, I can't take off during this time of the year unless it's an emergency, planned months in advance (around September is when they stopped approving for November/December off days), or if you're truly sick (not that they'll check on you). Most employers have a 1/1/201x effective date for their benefits so open enrollment season is around November - December and then it's rush, rush, rush (!!!) to get everything launched... Doesn't make for the easiest holiday season but the rest of the year is relatively quiet.
  24. If both teams are bowl eligible, this needs to happen. It would be great to get some revenge for last season although I don't think we are there yet, there's still two month until that potential match-up...
  25. Thanks for your post. There's obviously certain elements, such as how severe the weather might actually be during a game, that is lost through TV.
