  1. This is my fourth year of UNT football and I have never seen the hype that I've seen this year going into homecoming. Sure the loss to UAB will have an effect on attendance but I do not doubt one bit that we won't see a near sellout crowd.
  2. As a student I couldn't agree more with the frustration of this year's ticket system. I legit had friends not go to the home opener against Lamar because of ticket issues (they obviously were on edge to begin with, but still!). I've always wondered why they don't just let you swipe your ID to enter the stadium like basketball does. Everyone caries their student ID with them, so this would be a perfect solution to the current issues.

    Homecoming Forecast

    0% chance of rain now!
  4. Thanks for posting the picture, it kept telling me the file was too large so I just attached a link. This is a big problem though... Further down in the comments he tells a student looking into playing football at UNT to transfer to a different school if he was serious about playing the game.
  5. For the older generation that doesn't know there is a newly designed, very popular, social media app specifically for college students called Yik Yak. The app requires no username or password, and is completely anonymous. You are allowed to post once you're on a campus and you can say whatever you want and then people "up vote" or "down vote" the post. Recently UNT's entire feed has been covered with smack talk about our football team. Going from the Mean Green pride before the SMU game to this is a very unfortunate turn of events. Anyways, today some self-proclaimed UNT football player had this to say about our team. Very interesting. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4_EkIm9kf1OUVE5S25GbGJZeVU/view?usp=sharing
  6. I, too, have had several instances like you stated above. The most memorable one I have was last January while in Europe I encounter many UNT students, alumni, and even professors. My friend which wore an A&M shirt most of the time never once had anyone come up to him. I always make it a point to bring a UNT shirt anytime I leave the state or country for this reason. Heck, just this past summer I ended up in an elevator in New York City with another UNT student. We are everywhere!
  7. Like stated above, I do believe there will still be a great crowd despite the outcome last week. I was on the bus ride back from the SMU game, and though there were some negative words here and there the overall attitude was one of vengeance and excitement. There is a lot of hope that we will learn from our mistakes at SMU and come back strong against Rice. Whether that happens or not is to be seen. The next two home games should have large crowds (weather permitting), mostly because of homecoming. However, if we don't muster any wins until then I see the attendance dropping dramatically after the 10th.
  8. Just curious as to why they stopped doing the Fry Street Fair every year? It looked like it was a lot of fun. Kinda sad that they tore down all of those unique shops to build a five story apartment complex.
  9. Just to clarify, these professors I am speaking of didn't necessarily "talk up" other universities, most of it was just small talk before class amongst peers. This would often times include pro football as well. I just think it would be beneficial if each classroom had a slide up before class started to inform students of upcoming games, especially the home games.
  10. I am currently a sophomore at UNT and have recently become a very active user on this site. I really enjoy getting the inside scoop on all things UNT. I'd like to comment on this because I feel very confident that we will have a much larger Mean Green turnout than expected. This game is crucial for many reasons and I think that has got people talking around campus. Just today I convinced ten of my classmates, who aren't huge fans of football, to buy a ticket and just come out to socialize. I've also been very surprised by the amount of North Texas students posting on the recently popular social media app, Yik Yak, about SMU (all smack talk, of course). I never once saw this kind of excitement last season for the SMU game - or any game for that matter. I just wish the professors would help push the message and show some spirit about the upcoming games. I've never once heard any of my teachers speak a word about Mean Green athletics, but on many occasions I've heard them bring up Baylor, TCU, Texas, A&M, etc.
