Mean Green Nation Podcast 43: Non Cons
Paulie Walnuts replied to Mean_Green09's topic in Mean Green Football
Good show guys. I think the 5-7 predictions are pretty conservative. With all the emphasis on takeaways - not to mention a stud kicker... I think we will find a way to turn AT LEAST one of those projected losses into a win to become bowl eligible. GMG! -

Trenches Battle with Full Pads
Paulie Walnuts replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree. That being said, the starting O-Line has still looked pretty solid. Miles has gotten beat pretty bad a few times. But aside from that, it doesnt seem like it will be the Line that holds this offense back. I hope Creighton Barr doesnt have to sit behind Kirby for 2 years before he gets some significant playing time. He is gonna be a beast. -

MGB: Scrimmage notes (Updated with Mac video interview)
Paulie Walnuts replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Got all excited to read that we "mixed in some of its QBs with the top offense". Then read that it was Greer and that DaMarcus is "really far behind" - and it felt like I got kicked in the nuts. -
I am looking at my boner this video just gave me... and in this light right now... I swear it looks GREEN!!!

Today's OLine vs. DLine (with Pads) footage
Paulie Walnuts replied to All About UNT's topic in Mean Green Football
I have sound on all the vids from today. Check your settings or refresh maybe. Love hearing Coach Mac cussing at em lol. -
Is there a reason to think he might come to NT?
-
At the press conf, Mac said Wallace had a fever and might not be able to go. Dont forget they gotta make room for Chumley to move to TE too lol
-
I was also impressed with Micah Thompson - and Sam Rice as well. Both looked great.
-
Coach Mac did also say "99% of this team is in really, really good shape".
-
I think 71 and 77 must have switched numbers.

I guess the coaching staff is banking on this kind of thing happening about 20 times for this years class. -
Some of the better comments for the bulletin board from SMU's board... "2007 was a win for Bennet, but it was also his only win of the whole season. The Safeway Bowl is currently at 28–5–1, not that I endorse it as a series. I see it more as the canary in the coal mine. 11 more games scheduled, need to get this to 39-5-1." "Agreed, never again will we let that commuter school beat us." "I like how everyone is assuming UNT is a win. I hope it is but I dont put them in the auto win collumn until next year" "We lost to UNT last year by ~40 points, yet everyone on here has that down as a win. While our crop of freshman is better than the seniors they replace, they are still freshman and will struggle. " "The coach who shall not be named was probably a huge reason as to why we lost to NTSU last year. He had clearly mailed it in and the team fed off his lack of energy & commitment, and that stupid offense he ran." "I agree with those who are concerned about UNT game and think it may very well be the key to our season. Most of us expect to be trounced again by Baylor, but beating UNT after getting drubbed by them last year would go a long ways towards building some confidence. Lose to them at Ford and we are going to find out what our guys are made of (and how many might be run off at season's end). For these guys to win as many as 4 games, I see UNT as a "must win" game" "My pride will simply not let me consider losing to NTSU 2 years in a row....especially in our house."

But there is a DeMarcus Smith. We wont know until we actually see it happen - but I am thinking he is going to win the start against Portland St and not look back. So for a year and a half - lets hope he breaks some records. What I am also hoping is that his play will allow Chico to open up the offense - and that should attract the attention of some better than average high school QBs. GMG!!
-
I said COULD not SHOULD lol. I am just hammering the green Kool-Aid over here. I see some young players that look to have better talent than anybody I have seen play for the Mean Green, and I am frickin excited about it. But yeah - I am more than a little concerned with the current recruiting strategy, and results thus far. I could see using a more patient approach TO SOME EXTENT and hope that works out to land some better quality talent. But I also think you need to try to get the majority of your class committed early.
-
I'm starting to think Coach Mac could live off last years class for awhile maybe too. There are 16 sophmores/redshirt freshmen on the revised 2-deep depth chart.

From SilverEagle's Spring scrimmage report: "Other observations, #81 Kahn, is the real deal. He's at least as fast and quick as Chancellor and can catch it better. Actually he's more like Casey Fitzgerald."
